Every Ghostbuster playset & playhouse needs its own ghost catching storage facility. In his video we share the fabrication of the wood and metal welded custom containment unit inspired by the Ghostbusters firehouse interior from the movie and Real Ghostbusters cartoon. I fabricate many of the parts I needed out of TV mounts and miscellaneous junk lying around the house. We only had to purchase a few items like sheets of plywood, arcade buttons, and a ribbon This video is part six of our Ghostbusters Playhouse build series. We are drawing inspiration for the design of this extreme DIY playhouse off the Ghostbusters filming locations. The exterior of the Firehouse building in New York, Hook & Ladder Company 8 and the interior of the Fire Station No. 23 in Los Angeles. The fire stations have been a filming location for several other shows and movies but as the home base for the Ghostbusters what better fire station could you model from for a kids playhouse. We also got a few ideas from looking over our sons Ghostbusters firehouse Playmobil set and the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters images online, wish we had that! Other inspirations for ideas came from the Ghostbusters video game and The Real Ghostbusters animated TV series cartoon. We will be posting a series of videos of all the construction update videos and details of how we make this playhouse. We are incorporating two cedar wood playsets with the slides, climbing wall, swings, monkey bars, rope, fireman's pole, and any other playground equipment we can find a great deal on. The plan is to incorporate some other items from the Ghostbusters movies like a ghost, electrical shut off switches, wooden lockers, wood railing, slimer with slime splats, the stay puft marshmallow man, and much more. I know we always have grand plans but we will see how many of these we can accomplish.

Harrison's over there living the childhood I wish I had... When I was his age, I had to attach a fallen tree branch to my school backpack with yarn to pretend it was a proton pack and pretend a battered old lunchbox my mom got at a yardsale was a ghost trap. Granted, I don't necessarily regret having to use my imagination like that, as developing those imaginative skills have helped me immensely in my adult life, but I would have killed for movie-accurate play props like this too. EDIT: also, it's perfectly fine that this isn't a 100% 1:1 replica and that you made some changes/mistakes when building it. One of the key aspects from the movies in terms of design aesthetics was that the prop builders wanted the equipment to feel like Egon and Ray cobbled their equipment together from whatever they had on hand or could find at junk shops, flea markets and thrift stores on the cheap, so by "making do" with what you have or could find is completely keeping in that spirit (pun so much intended) of guerilla garage building.

Been building an ECU myself on&off for a couple years now. This actually gives me the inspiration to finish the thing! I love that you didnt stick entirely to "100% movie accuracy", I always find that boring and stressful. In fact, I'd say I think I prefer it this way, as a sort of mashup between the movie & the animated series. Love this build!

Thanks Ryan you know I feel that way about most of these props I see that movie fans make. I can tell you many times the fans do have way more attention to detail than the original prop maker. They often times busted something out with whatever and made stuff work off camera and through editing and now people try and replicate these things and really make them work. Thank you very much Christian. There were so many great examples out there of the original prop that others have done incorporating the RGB one really made it fun for me to make. Still have to put some finishing touches on it like the white square on the door and others said I should try and make the gauge move, add sound etc. I guess a person could keep messing with it forever. Grade 8 bolts are expensive! Amazon sells silicone ice cube trays that are hex heads you can fill with resin to make lightweight bolt heads. Its a really beautiful piece. Walter Peck would be proud!

Hey guys! This build just keeps getting better! You could fix the problem with those LED's just by getting a sheet of Frost Filter gel. Something like a Hollywood frost (no pun intended). Just stick it to the back of the glass, and you may have to move the LED's further back so they don't hot-spot. You'll get a nice soft glow. So many things can be done with frost filters and gels, I think a lot of people using LED lights these days kinda forget some of the old theater lighting tricks can still be used.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have a ton of different gels so we will definitely try that. If I move them back farther I will need to make separate spaces because its all open and the light leaks over to the other lenses. Just have to mess with it again some more. Thanks again 😃👍

I love that you went for a RGB, Movie hybrid for the containment unit. The best I had was the Kenner toy ECU as a kid I’d have loved to had this. I’ve been toying with the idea of building one my self but got so many unfinished projects I can’t start another.

I hear you Robert too many projects. 😲 The mash up made it fun but I couldn't decide on how I wanted the door. I really like the way the RGB door slid out instead. But if I did that it made me just want to make it like the cartoon altogether. Its a fun project if you do ever get around to making one. thanks 😃👍

I am sure they didn't start out skilled. Just like any craft or art....you must make many mistakes. Mistakes are invaluable!

@@TheSkyHive I do plane on building a containment unit at some point but Hollywood hunters definitely gave me some ideas on how I could build one

Oh I forgot to mention that I have an extra Ghostbusters ribbon cable for proton pack if you or anyone might be interested in it I'd be happy to send it from where I built a full size proton pack the other ribbon cable that I have left over I plan to use on my nephews Spirit Halloween pack that I plan to get him for Christmas but I have two extra room and cables one of them I'll be happy to send my email address is go4holland@gmail.com

OMG, I'm sure that Harrison don't realize how lucky he is to have a Dad like Chris to make him all these cool things. I'm sure that when he grows up all the kids in the neighborhood will be at your place because it will be the coolest place for them to hang out. I hope you guys a far away from all the fires that we're seeing on the news. Stay safe.
