100% my thought pattern right now. As my kids grow, I've been looking at the Tundra for aftermarket. My only concern is length for some of the things that we do. Still on the fence. It's good to hear your thought process. Great points.

I may still be in the honeymooners stage, but boy do we love the truck. We just went to the MOORE expo last weekend (reason behind my delayed response) 700 miles one way, and it was such a pleasant drive. We had all sorts of cross winds, head winds, weather of all sorts and the truck, well just drove itself. The space in the rear seat is almost ridiculous and provides a black hole of toys, books and writing utensils. But you are right with length of truck. Going from a Jeep to a full size truck its crazy! These things are huge! I pull into a parking space and when I get out, I realize my truck is half way into the drive lane. I do want to get a few more things built, but want to return to Colorado to hit some of those awesome trails. Just try to avoid the skinny or switch back ones.

Dang, gonna miss you at MOORE this year. (Un)fortunately headed to Northern Arizona.

Hope you had/have an amazing time in Northern Arizona. We have never been, but is certainly on our list.

Totally the right move for all the right reasons, especially power and space, which always seems to be a premium in Jeeps and most midsized trucks! For us, it's just as much about the journey as it is the destination, and I enjoy the harder trails/getting to the more remote locations, so feel a Jeep is the right tool (for us). When we traded our portly and underpowered 10A JKUR, I regretted it so much that I ended up with a JT a couple of years later. The 8 speed auto made a big difference for sure, but still back to power and space; there is only so much to be had with that JT platform.

So far we have loved the change. The power, space and comfort has been a nice upgrade. But I am sure I will be steaming, when I sink my 7000 lb truck in a moderately easy trail trying to get back to a campsite. I couldn't agree with you more. The Jeep platform JK, JL, JT are truly the off-road champ. We never made it to Moab in the Jeep which I do regret, but we were able to tackle the Colorado BDR, which was amazing. Although the truck probably could handle it, I would want to get a few more mods before I tackle those trails again.

What a surprise, good choice, I’ve always been a Toyota fan, 4Runner and Land Cruiser currently. Considering the new Trail Hunter Looking forward to seeing what you do with it

The Trail Hunter looks pretty nice! We have been very happy with the Tundra thus far. We have made a fair amount of mods thus far and now I need to give our bank account a rest to recover. lol.

Thank you. We have really been enjoying the truck. As of right now, we do not plan to be at the expo. But you never know. A more likely opportunity would be the Mountain expo.

I will always love my jeeps, however my f150 has more power/room/durability than the jeep and we have enjoyed our travels in it!! (and yeah... I did cut a full ragtop roof in it cus I just missed the open air driving!!!...but hey it was only HALF the size of the roof I cut off the van!)
@FreysOnTheSide
@FreysOnTheSide 4 месяца назад
That sounds like an pretty impressive mod! I don't think I could convince myself to cut a hole in my truck roof.
@WeekendWanderersOverland
@WeekendWanderersOverland 4 месяца назад
After cutting the entire roof off of a Ford Econoline. And putting a port hole in our camper for a rooftop tent. It only seem natural to measure about 11 billion times before making the first cut. Absolute favorite modification I’ve ever made!! don’t be scared. You can always buy another entire truck cab!! 😂

Love this. Should ride like a caddy compared to the Jeep with more room and hauling capacity. See you in a few days!

Hemi swap would have been nice in your jeep. America's Most Wanted does these engine swaps and they do financing. I'm thinking about it for my jeep gladiator.
@FreysOnTheSide
@FreysOnTheSide 4 месяца назад
That certainly would have solved one piece of the pie, by adding more horsepower. Unfortunately, the Hemi swap doesn't provide better ride comfort and more interior space.

@@FreysOnTheSide , the willy's jeep gladiator has a really smooth suspension and the seats are comfortable on long trips. I've read that the gladiator has more leg room as well. Do you miss going "naked" in the jeep? I hope you have fun on your trips and be careful out there. I want to go on a nice trail and put the windshield down on my gladiator for the 1st time for a different experience.

@@user-fk2dm5oy9f I bet that will be fun riding down the trail with you windshield down. Be sure to bring some goggles and some extra toothpaste to get those bugs out of you teeth. Save travels and stay hungry for adventure!

Toyota, are great trucks. I have a 2016 Ram myself, I already put 20-10 Scorpion Nomades with 33x12.50’s 20. My lift goes in this weekend, 3” front 2 inch rear. When switching to the bigger mud tires, I only lost 1mpg.

Full size trucks are really nice. I (Matt) would love to get a lift on the truck, but this may be a few years down the road.
