So many things I want to comment on. I love Riches green beanie, happy dogs, ferns on bricks, glass managerie, calm water, putt putt of that NB, lock bottom!, that wonderful map! They love the walks but Archie in particular really makes a fuss and sulks when he gets back, especially if he has seedheads in his fur. He wont settle until he id dry and clean.

You talked about walking from Lands End to John O´Groats in one year, in three years I walked "from my home in Gothenburg, Sweden to Jerusalem, not really but all my walking gathered and collected, the walking was made entirely inside Sweden.

Excellent, ambitious plans, calm cruising and prosperous voyages. You'll enjoy exploring Lincoln; Moor up in Brayfoed Pool, climb the hill to the cathedral and castle and loose yourselves in the history of the place. My ears really perked up when you mentioned the name, Gardner. My great grandfather on my mothers side was a Gardner and was one of the founding fathers, so to speak, of Kenora, Ontario. I know my mothers side of the family were British at one stage. The other great grandfather on her side was a Drake. Dad's side was German so we pronounce our last name as 'Groob'. Lovely walk-about video. Really wish I could enjoy a narrowboat life but I'll just have to live vicariously through you two.

I entirely agree Adderbury is lovely and if you get on the bus Bloxham and Hook Norton are equally lovely.My experience of Somerton deep was getting stuck on the way out against the southern gate and having 5 people pushing on the gate arm to get me through.It looked nice and clear for you thank goodness.That is some trip planned for this year,I hope the weather and the water levels gold up .

hi, tip for lincoln. other side of lincolm basin under the bridge 14 day mooring so wont have to pay to stay in basin. hope it helps

The dogs looked like butter wouldnt melt when they're covered in mud 😂 That church is beautiful and i too enjoy walking round graveyards and reading the headstones especially the really old ones. Lovely vlog you two. Many years ago my husband & I had a 24ft boot on the River Thames which we moored at Bray Marina & lived in Bray near Maidenhead. We enjoyed our cruising very much with the 3 young children. One year we cruised upstream past Oxford & onto Lechlade. That took a week & then it was a week cruising home. I remember us going through Aynho lock. There was a chap there taking photos & he asked if he could take a photo of us coming into the lock which we said yes. He asked for our name & address & sent us the photo with a covering letter on headed Parliament letter paper. Have got the photo framed now. Those were the days. I wonder how you tidy up the dogs to bring them back in Laura Maisie. The dogs always seem to search out the wettest and muddiest bits to get into. I had two GSDs, a brother sister duo. The female searched out every bit of mud and water to run thru and the male avoided all manner of wet and mud. LOL Always love to see your happy duo tails wagging running for joy.

We try to get them to have a swim they are very muddy and we keep a stack of old towels at the back of the boat to rub them down. They are really good at standing to have their feet wiped now!

That was lovely. It’s clear from the snowdrops that it was recently filmed. Eight miles is just about right for a winter walk, isn’t it. We did something like that in the Chilterns last week, just about managing to get back to the car before sunset. Like you, we tend to stop frequently to look at flora and fauna.

Aussie here….I lived in Britain for 8 and a half years, Bristol, Stourport-On-Severn, Bewdley, Kidderminster, so I know how cold and dark it can get. Have you considered a small generator like a Honda 2.2 Eu etc. Super quiet and fuel efficient producing 15 amp power…..would that work on a Narrowboat? Doing our first trip in June visiting the in-laws…..can’t wait. We’ve spent plenty of time on the Murray River in our large houseboats. This will be very different!😊

Lots of people do run small generators on their boats and it works well from them. We prefer just to be careful with our power and do manage, We can run the engine to charge the batteries if necessary. It sounds like you lived in some of the best canal areas of Britain. Here, here to the end of covid. The early lock downs stopped us cruising. We were only allowed to move for water and services. Apart from that I think we have been in the best place on the canals away from all the madness. All back to normal now.
