Watch to find out what it did to our workshop an how we sorted it out!!

I am so very glad everyone is ok and the damage to the shop was minimal. So scary. When painting over smoke and fire damage, you're best off using a stain- and odor-blocking primer like Zinsser B-I-N or Bullseye 1-2-3 Plus. The B-I-N is shellac-based, has great adhesion as well as high hide and permanent odor blocking. The 1-2-3 is water-based. Make sure you get the Plus version for the stain blocking. For strong odor blocking, you'll want to stick with the B-I-N.

Thanks for the tips Jennifer, I didnt know it blocks odours as well. I'll have to use it on some of the really stained parts. 👍

I had this happen about 4 years ago, buildup of dust in the 3 phase motor in the table saw. Know what you mean about the panic setting in, I used a pry bar to tip the saw in order to get an extinguisher into the motor, cracked the cast iron and motor was toast. But that was the worst that happened so not the end of the world.

Possible case of spontaneous combustion? Its happened after you've moved those carts which could spill oil/fuel?

Very small chance I guess, not ideal storing them in the building and I should take them out. Shame my security camera didn't catch it!

Lucky there mate. It’s always my biggest fear with my workshop, I always switch off all the sockets before I close up for the evening and being that it’s down the end of my garden I can glance out every now and then.
