Dude, your videos make me ALMOST want to buy an air rifle. I can't really justify it with no legality issues around regular varmint firearms in my area. Your footage, accuracy, consistency, and complete JOY in this platform makes this dedicated powder burner tempted with every video you post.
Since I have greatly modified my 30 cal M3 I don't think the M4 is for me, nice enough but do not consider the upgrades on the M4 significant enough to warrant a purchase. Not all of us can afford to just buy the "latest" great thing either, just bought a 35 cal dynamic to add to the 25 cal Pathera so no money left anyway
Just another scam, just like they just released a "New rifle" dynamic compact, instead of just releasing a conversion kit, why buy a whole new rifle just to be able to have a compact version, at least offer some improvements.
Great M4 overview Matt! This past month I acquired an original 2015 FX Impact to sit next to my M4 on my gun wall. Great visual reminder that greatness can evolve and doesn’t have to completely change to get to the next level.
Got my m4 all set up for .218 34g javelin slugs. Such a great gun. 700m superior heavy liner, slug power kit(spring, tungsten hammer, pin probe, accu bipod, Donny moderator, trigger guard saber tactical low profile full size
Still rocking the original Impact (numerous upgrades and close to 10,000 rounds) and it is still my favorite gun. I am considering a M4 just because of overall wear on mine, and the new trigger.
What is your hunting setup Matt - mind sharing power settings etc? Another great help would be a video on things to check if groupings stop being so tight? Thx for the grt content as always.
@@Peter-tb3pq I like the M4 my first XF rifle we will see how it goes. if its bad i would not buy again. maybe Ill consider something else.. so whats better than the m4?
The M4 is nothing more than a low production cost M3. The M4 cost less to manufacture than the M3. The only party that benefits from the M4 is FX Air Guns.
Until the sloppy barrel system is fixed, no more FX for me. Every time you put an FX smooth twist in a case or bag, it'll lose zero. Had a streamline and dreamline. I replaced it with a 5.5 AGT uragan with a LW barrel. Have had to set the zero once or twice in 2 years. My uragan shoots nielsen slugs sub moa at 120 meters for about 1/3 of what an impact would cost.
without the primary regulator, what is the purpose of the power plenum? Is it not just connected inbetween the bottle and the (now primary, previously secondary) reg?
@@AirArmsHuntingSA That makes a lot more sense! thank you! Visually, it looks like the plenum is between the bottle and the reg, but functionally, the plenum is between the (now primary, previously secondary) regulator and the valve, correct? Edit: Nevermind. Reg is in the grip frame, not the rear housing, where the pressure gauge is. I was confused.
Matt did the FX M3 community discover that the Delrin piston in reg#2 is more durable than originally thought? I've been told that the original stock M3 can be run not only at 300 bar but with reg#1 bypassed. That is, like the M4. I've replaced reg#2 with a Huma air unit so I feel like bypassing the 1st reg should be OK. Another question is why is a special part needed for that? Why not just open it up with the adjustment screw ?
I am sill waiting for a FX carbine pump rifle. Just like my fully customized $1,000 crosman 1377. Just with a FX repeatability and quality feeling. 18" STX and folding/collapsed stock, and picatinny rail.
As a shooter looking at getting into airguns coming from rimfire and centerfire is the M4 a good place to start? I always liked the look of an m3 but now the m4 is here and I think it looks pretty good.
Crazy how far airguns have come in a short time. Used to love them before I got into rim fries/centre fires. Remember thinking how much of an upgrade a 22lr was over them. Now it looks like the 22 lr is being outclassed by them.
Fx cannot out class a red rider. FX air guns are for people who don’t know anything about airguns and then they get one and then they go one day to arrange where other people are shooting their guns and they find out that they’re really junk. And then they find out they’re getting beat by $500 guns in accuracy and power. How is that class action lawsuit against you guys FX
Brilliant! How did you get your micro and macro so low? Have you maxed out your reg pressure? Is it better to have a higher reg pressure and lower hammer tension?
Hello Matt and as always thank you for the review and for ox wagon diaries. 1 question off topic. Is there any word on the FX Halos? Curious to hear from you about accuracy and lethal range. Shot placement being the key to a great shot. But range based on element conditions and shooters skills. Hope your having a great day. Cheers
Ditch the first reg or go huma, put the bigger plenum and power block on, run a tungsten hammer, change to a 1 piece top strap/rail. Now your impact is an m4 more or less. The rest is stuff you've likely changed anyhow and fx rolls out upgrades as a model ages, you'll likely be up to date on your own.
I was excited when the impact m4 was released. Some of the upgrades are okay but overall weren’t compelling enough for me to buy one. I actually purchased a used impact m3 from Utah Air Guns with some great accessories for the same price as a new impact m4. I don’t see an increase in velocity so what’s the point of spending an additional two thousand dollars? If you already have a M3?
🤠 Another great video/class, thank you 👍👋👋👋 I get a feeling that in some cases a smaller caliber pellet may be more lethal if the speed is higher than the larger caliber for medium to large game; like crossing both lungs of a deer. Where as it seems to me that at 50 yards the larger .35 cal would be significantly more powerful for hunting than the .30 cal. But at 100 or 200 yards… I’m not so sure how long would the weight of the projectile works against its effective reach. Maybe we should have a calculator of: speed, versus calibers and grains to know that. Could you please comment on the lethality difference between the .30 and.35 calibers - for the higuest power of the M4 - at 50, 100 and 200 yards?
Great informative review as always... Here is an odd question .. I own a couple of PcP's from another brand But I'm so keen to add an FX to my collection Do I go for an M3 or M4 out of the box ??
Hi all as a new impact m4 sniper 700 22 question is can one change out the barrel to a 25 or 30 cal just changing the barrel ... to get a higher caliber
The only issue with fx is they're relatively unreliable as soon as someone starts messing with them. I'd say 50 to 60 percent, we sell are returned for warranty work from accuracy loss to leaks. When they work, they're hammers, but getting long-term reliability seems a flip of a coin on the tech that assembled it.
Hello My friend. My name is Joselito Vilas Boas, I’m from Brazil and passionate about the FX Airguns brand, I’ve used several models and currently have an M3 .22. I recently purchased a Liner Heavy and received the Liner 1.18 instead of 1.16, but I didn’t see information about the difference between them on any forum. I noticed that the shock of the 1/18 is much greater than that of the 1/16, as the speed decreases a lot with the 1/18. In addition to this speed detail, what is the objective of manufacturing the 1/18 Liner? What is the difference between the 1/18 Liner and the 1/16? Thanks
Is it correct that you can get a click when cocking the M4 before it is actually fully cocked? It'd be easy to load a slug without a full cock and, possibly, then double load when you fully cock. Does that make sense? I like to hear an audible indicator that tells me that it's cocked and loaded so I know I'm good to go especially on night hunts. I can anticipate errors (speaking about myself) if the click is not confirmation of a loaded, ready to fire, weapon.
Good job and you know that I love FX product but... see my vidéo on the New Mora Standard of rti-arms... WE have everything immediatly, no need to buy options... Efficacité, accurate ...powerfull. Some good ideas to take for FX...
I really like this type of PCP gun but I live in Southeast Asia, specifically Vietnam. The government does not allow Vietnamese citizens to use all types of weapons.
Hi Matt! Problem: Gun 1 week not in use, no changes in Regs and constant pressure, but first shots very low speed (880 ft/s) but increasing with every further shots, after 10-15 shots stabilizes at programmed 960 ft/s. Very bad for hunting use. Any ideas what could cause this problem ? Don't want to disassemble the whole gun
FX are burning MK1-2 impact owners with non upgradeable parts for the older models on new releases of the impact. I purchased an MK2 watching your videos, I do love the gun but will not fork out $3k every time FX adds minor iterations. Most people would hand over hard earned money to FX if they look after the customer. Make them upgradable (all parts) so we won't have to try move an old model gun to upgrade.
@@danbrown6255 they did, but big companies like this always take something from each other. FX took their DRS design from a snowpeak gun from nearly a decade ago.
The plenum is not 75cc according to Ernest. Its the same volume as the m3, just with 750 on it. Looks like a marketing trick. The first regulator has now a dead plug, so the block is the same. All the things that have changed are just tiny details. IMO not worth switching from M3 to M4. Being not able to use the bagrider, cheeckriser etc from Saber Tactical is just a huge huge drawback.
No bad vibe here.... Just my opinion, i think Fx needs to rethink their marketing strategy and the way you package your guns. Skout Epoch is taking the market with better deals and more advancements features. That harden rail and analog pressure gauge is no longer gonna sell to me. Look around at your competition their decades ahead from your design. Again, just constructive criticism. And over exposure on your products, i think, is bad. See how many views this gets.
Nah those you mentioned look cheaper made and have less power for a significantly more money. Also analogue gauges, I don't see your point, can you give me a hint on what exactly you see as advanced there, so i can follow?
@@MarkusOsmers like i said it's my opinion no bad vibe. Maybe it's time for FX to do a self check after the euphoria. If you can't see the advancement of Skout Epoch against FX. I'LL LET YOU FIGURE IT OUT AND RESPECT YOUR COMMENT. LIKE I SAID NO BAD VIBE.
Hi matt it looks like you have no trouble with you tensioner on your gun. A lot of people are having a problem 😊what gives. I would appreciate it it you could get back to me on this 😊
I started out with the most simple air rifle from Walmart Gamo whisper cal .177 and now here I am about to spend 4k on a FX IMPACT CAL .35 WITH BIPODS+ ATN X-SIGHT 5-25 ULTRA 4K KNIGHT VISION + ANOTHER MAGAZINE AND A 700CC BOTTLE LOL XD
@@thijspost6821 not just that, but .22 is probably the most efficient calibre when it comes to bar per joule. The slugs are heavy enough to put good energy down range, but not so large that it needs a heap of air to move them. He gets 47 shots on the reg out of that relatively small tank. Big bore rifles drain a tank like that in a couple of shots, which isn't practical for the kind of hunting Matt does.
Hi again mat .I wonder why fx can't listen to Ernest. Hi mods to th m4 really make totall sense to me .don't get me rong I love my m3 and m4. But why oh why don't they listen to him. Please please have a word with fx if anyone can it's you mate 👍 please consider this 🙏
Well, I am not Matt, but I believe from cheap PCPs you won't be disappointed from Air Venturi Avenger. Actually, I own only FX rifles, so I do not have private experiences with AVA, but I saw plenty of positive reviews of Air Venturi Avenger.
I’m a Matt, just not the one you’re asking for. 😂 I started with an Air Venturi Avenger and a Arken optics scope. It’s a great gun. My Dad actually stole/bought it from me. Now I have a Panthera Hunter Compact.
Any FX rifle loses the point of impact every time you use it, the Barrel is the big problem that they never fix, any slight touch on the barrel and it no longer has the accuracy because the barrel is very flexible, but these guys earn a lot of money to make false advertising.
I have had mine for 7 years and it never loses zero after a knock and I’m not being paid to lie for fx is it that you are just jealous of people that own one
@@Coowallsky The current introduction of the M4 product still does not mention the barrel system. Apparently this guy himself may be using LW, TJ, CZ barrels privately. He received a lot of advertising fees from FX so this is the reality.
I have an M3, and it lost zero every time. took it out, and I have done extensive modifications to fix the fault. It's a poorly designed barrel mounting system compared to other Rifles, a solid barrel is the way to go.
That supressor way too big, looks like a Maglite flashlight 😂 so many nice, less bulky air supressors like impulse air, donny fl yokozuna, and other good companies.
