If they want to appease the TV hates, then other than replacing it with Rally-like Gameplay, they could just overhauling the TV system with a platformer style gameplay in story quest, that allows the player to control Eous. However, even though you are controlling Eous, if agents in that particular story needs to be active/contribute to the stage's progress, the concept of Eous\Proxy giving guidance to those agents could be interpreted as giving control of those agents to the player. All this is present like a side-ways platformer gameplay, with puzzles in the stages, ethereals, hidden routes, and they could make it simple or very complex. Even the already existing moving the boxes puzzles in TV mode can easily be implemented in a platformer. And players also are seeing/controling their agents just in a more 2d style platformer way. I doubt anyone would complain at that point. But that's a lot of work, but they already have the arcade, and what I'm pitching isn't too far from what they may have plan for arcade games.

The problem to me is that ZZZ didnt market the tvs AT ALL. They made it seem like it was just a combat game so coming into it and getting 10 minute longass puzzles thrown at you with 2 mintues of combat isnt a good time. Especially for story mode where people just wanna play with the new characters and watch cutscenes. I know some people like the Tvs but its isnt fair for the people that like the whole game except for the tv system. So I think the tv should stay but be 100% skippable. Like give us the option to turn it off.
@TheMrToxin
@TheMrToxin 7 часов назад
But the combat it has is boring if it's the only thing that exists. WuWa for example has a much better one and is even open world. ZZZ lost all its charm now and is jut a regular hack n slash game with barely anything being unique.

Nah, I'm a TV enjoyer, and I don't mind it in the game because I personally enjoy it but chapter 3 without TV, if made right could be epic. Imagine a stage dark af, with a night vision toggle like Genshin Elemental sight mode, and you would have to navigate those dark areas in stealth trying to avoid those special ethereals. If done right they could give the players a feel of thrill and suspense. They could make it so that if these ethereals find you, you don't simply get reset but you would have to run and find hiding/safe areas. I don't know it would be epic, but of course that's just more work for the developers.

I dont know about making players run instead of resetting. Stealth gameplay is big frustration for a lot of gamers especially in action games I think if they got caught they would much prefer to reset. I think it would be harder to pull of than you imagine.

On the point of the feeling of movement in the tv mode, I believe it is tied to your network connection delay, because when I play on the American servers (from Australia) each individual movement is delayed be cause of the high latency. Since mobile players probably tend to have a spotty connection that would cause some problems for those players

i honestly think just give an option to player to turn it on/off the tvs for the story, for hollow zero its perfect with no tvs for me i need the tv cus i just care about the story, in chapter 4 the mcs feels like NPC literally like genshin and hsr mcs there is lore in the end of the ch 4 but u can put that scene from the beginning without whole pompey story and everything is fine for me tv is very important for the mcs story i still think we should stop trying to make everyone happy, game for everyone is game for no one look at nikke that game at launch getting clowned and ppl called it "gooner game", hey but look now they proud being gooner game and still doing insanely well

One hopeful thing is that, if the TV Mode stays in future side stories, maybe after a long time from now, positive feedback could give the devs the excuse they need to reintegrate TVs into the main story. In fact, if the main story without the TVs gives us some really dumpy patches... then the lesser of two evils is realized and then boom, ZZZ 2.0, TVs are back in main story. As long as there is some form of TVs being used for creative storytelling purposes in the game, then comparing it against the main story will always have the potential for reintroduction.

Hi Azrial, enjoy your content and enthusiasm for ZZZ. Great discussion, too. For anyone who wants to respond, these are my opinions, not blanket statements. So, I'm neutral regarding TV mode. Personally, I find the TV mode in the main story as the primary way of showing what the agents are doing to not be particularly immersive. It makes me feel too disconnected from what the agents are experiencing. I can't see the character models or the in-game environment. What I'd prefer would be TV mode sliding onscreen as a temporary overlay when Phaethon has to help the agents navigate or interact with something in a Hollow. So, brief puzzles that occasionally interrupt the flow of running through 3D environments and fighting enemies rather than the reverse, which it was in the first few chapters. As the primary way of navigating levels, I personally prefer being "on the ground" with the agents and having Phaethon provide assistance and guidance rather than the other way around. For example, TV mode could show Phaethon unlocking a door, opening a new path in a level, disabling hazards, unlocking chests, extracting information, turning hazards against enemies (Phaethon is controlling them via Eous), provide a specific bonus to the agents in a combat engagement (maybe Phaethon is helping agents locate Resonia), etc. Another idea would be rather than always making TV mode a forced activity, it could be a tool you bring up while inside a level to solve problems and receive buffs. Make it more like enabling the player to hack stuff in levels and play with the in-game environment and less strictly a puzzle-based gameplay mode. For TV mode itself, they have made some improvements to speed it up in the few Exploration Commissions in patch 1.2, so it does play faster. For Hollow Zero, I have no issues with the gameplay because you have choices that make it more interesting and interactive. It still isn't as immersive for me, but the more roguelike style of gameplay makes the mode more fun.

Reiterating, I think the best of both worlds is how it was done in Chapter 3: combat was evenly spaced out and exploration had thematic significance (the ghosts that teleport you back to the start). Going forward, I think each chapter needs exploration to be thematically fitting outside of combat. For example, Chapter 4 could've had hollow raiders or other shifty characters who could aid or obstruct you depending on how much trust you put in them. It would fit with how the Outer Ring is described as a relatively lawless place that has valuable opportunities if you know where to look.

I played the TV modes recently in 1.2 (a new one, and some old ones that I haven't done). it feels much smoother. you don't need to actually step onto the valve gate now, you just need to be next to it, and a prompt will pop up in bottom right asking you to pay or not (no zoom in and no Fairy keep repeating saying it's not a smart lock etc, but Fairy still say the "opening valve"). when in speed up toggle, the dialogues no longer cuts off (if it's voiced), but instead it sped up. I haven't done any HZ exploration yet.

for me the tv's are only frustrating when there is new story because I'm not interested in getting stuck in a puzzle when I'm so hyped about the story and want to see what happens next and to make 2 things clear the story puzzles aren't difficult I'm just impatient and trying to rush through them while that's partially on me if I'm but at the same time if I'm playing for story the puzzles are always gonna feel annoying 2nd this isn't just a zzz issue every game I've every played has including star rail if I'm trying to see what happens next a pointless easy fight or a puzzle will always feel annoying for me the tv's are most enjoyable when they are in the event quests or side quest as if I'm doing those i have time set aside to do them and there have been multiple times where i was surprised at how much i enjoyed them since I'm not a puzzle type of person normally i enjoyed the pacing of the 1.2 story and i can only think of a couple spots where a short tv section would be enjoyable and not feel like they are trying to stall for time in summary i dont think the tv's should go away fully but they will always feel annoying in story quests to some degree and should stay in event quests or or side quests but if they add them back into story missions in small doses i would be ok but still should be less then they have been in the past

I don't care abaut the TVs specificly but i do care abaut 2 things specificly that they can't just delete and call it a day. Those are: -The relevance of Phaethon in gameplay. In Chapter 4, all Phaethon did could have been done by a basic ass carot. In fact, that's what all the biker gangs use on the daily basis including the SoC. This chapter gave me a huge "why were we even here?" feeling. -We need something to break up the monotonity of kill tresh mobs, go to next room, kill tresh mobs loop. It could be other things, the bike minigame should have been it in this chapter and i have no idea why they only used it once... the way most of the missions felt like i'm just doing daily grinding another 40 times is not great. So, yeah. I would rether have the old style but even if we don't get that back, MAJOR modifications are needed here

Carrot data becomes outdated quickly so phaethon is a much better navigator to have on hand. Thats it, that's their relevance. They never had revelance in gameplay. Everything they do in the tv can just be explained through combat.
@patrickcarter2829
@patrickcarter2829 2 дня назад
@@TheKingofHonoredOnes on the contrary, I think the TV's are a necessity to break up the monotonous nature of the combat. For example, Chapter 3 was a pretty good execution of balancing tv and combat: the "ghosts" made for an interesting and thematic exploration and offered a way to showcase what was happening outside of combat, like actually navigating through a Hollow.

People are not seeing the bigger picture here. They took out TVs that was a unique feature of ZZZ and replaced it with absolutely nothing. Now this game is just a regular hack n slash that you can find in the dozens, there is no charm to it anymore, and it will get boring when all you do is combat. Since TVs won't appear in main story anymore, and we will never get butcher approaching, saving Grace's machines, ghosts in the towers again, I simply uninstalled this game, even though I spent money on it. Probably won't even bother playing any future Hoyo games, if they just betray players like this 2 months after launch.

First of all I am a TV Enjoyer, second this is a list of all the points I caught were mentioned by chat and Azrial with my feedback and opinion attached to each of them, if you would like to copy this format and use it to give your own go ahead :D the .1 points are just the continuation of my feedback and opinion as well as my own conclusion. Also please don't comment if you don't have anything of value to say... Things like "Ain't reading that" "HOLY YAPPING" are fun as memes but stop the conversation from naturally flowing in the comments. And Azrial if you would like to ever use this comment and its responses to further expand the topic in a new video that would be great! 1.- Speed Up cuts off dialogue: Yes it does and it was mentioned in the Face to Face so they are working on it. 2.-Base Speed Increase: In theory it was already increased. 3.-Animation/Zoom Speed/Oversaturation: YES, this has been an issue from the beggining and I saw almost no one mentioned, things like Fairy asking if you want to open doors, recollecting Data, opening chests, etc. have no reason to be displayed EVERY SINGLE TIME after the "tutorial" so just get rid of it after that. 4.- Movement Speed too slow: This is imo not the issue, but instead point 3, no matter how fast you can traverse TVs if animations stop you in your tracks all the time. 5.-TVs being too hand holdy/easy: Here I think we can see the first point of conflict between people who tolerate/enjoy TVs and those who hate it, if you make the TV puzzles harder then TV haters will still complain, as they don't want to be stopped in any way from rushing things and entering combat, they simply don't like TVs no matter how they are implemented. 6.-TV Layout can have way more variety depending on which setting you are in: Extremely fair point, not only does this change make immersion better but it also just straight up makes TV more appealing to look at. 7.- TV Exploration vs Agent Exploration: While a major factor is the ability to see and use your Agents the main difference I find is the amount of work you have to do in order to move along the story: In TVs you have a gameplay style that may or may not be enjoyable (regardless of optimization) that you can't avoid, in 3d exploration you just need to walk from point A to point B to get to the combat 7.1.- In summary, people get into ZZZ expecting to enjoy combats since the game advertised itself as an Action Game, but then one of the major aspects players find thrown at their face and forced upon them since the beginning is TV mode, a mode that has NOTHING to do with combat and thus turns them away from the game since they didn't get on board to do mini games / puzzles and yet they are forced upon these mechanics that let's be honest do take a lot of time compared to combat aka the main aspect of an Action Game, not neccesarily that the TVs take fights away but that they are too many and too long in between fights (Not inherently a bad thing imho since I enjoy them, but from the PoV of someone who straight up joined due to sheer hype of having a game centered around it's combat I can see why they hate them) 8.- Balance between TVs and Combat: As of 1.0 TVs did take a ratio of 80-30 with the scarce fights that were thrown at us being 30 seconds long with TVs lasting several minutes in comparison (Massive ratio disproportion that I will elaborate further in point 8.1). Then as of 1.1 TVs take the first major step back with Jane's story being completely removed from it (Now arguably this was a side story that didn't involve Phaethon and thus made sense to not have it). Then finally we get to 1.2 where we are reintroduced to Phaeton's story and surprise surprise: TVs are not there finally confirmed to be removed and even introduced optional modes to Hollow Zero making TVs completely useless and funnily enough I think that was the only instance where I personally would have removed TVs since it's meant to be a sort of grindy mode that you do WEEKLY and it burns you out really fast whereas all the story TVs were unique and you are only meant to experience them "once" and then move on to new TV mechanics from their respective chapters. 8.1.- What people fail to realize is that Zenless combat is extremely simple COMPARED to other Action Games, be it gachas (PGR, Wuwa to an extent) or mainstream (Bayonetta, Devil May Cry) and thus becomes repetitive and monotonous real fast IF it's not engaging aka A CHALLENGE: Point in case, combat during story mode is extremely dull when it comes to a challenge as it's literally designed for casual players to be able to clear it by even giving trial characters in case theirs fall short... And here is where TV mode came in: It provided a way for non stop combat -similar to 1.2- to not become dull and repetitive due to how low the difficulty is during the story. Now let me ask you something: Was the combat enjoyable during 1.2? For me it was the most tedious content TO DAY since I've already tried both Shiyu Defense Modes that require you to not get downed once and the combat even distracted me from dialogue during 3D exploration since I have to either focus on my gameplay or on the text on screen... This mind you didn't happen to me once during 1.0 and 1.1 (The latter to an extent since Jane's story was a side story of which most dialogue was blabbering between her and npcs) so take it as you wish. To finish this I want to add my own perception of this issue: There are 3 kind of people right now which are TV enjoyers, TV haters and TV neutrals. Most TV Enjoyers jumped into the game already expecting TV mode alongside combat making their reception incredibly positive, most TV haters jumped into the game expecting a game HEAVILY focused on combat and how can we blame them? Hoyo did nothing to market the TV aspect of ZZZ outside of betas which made said TV haters even more displeased with TVs as their feedback was ignored in their eyes when the game launched with their inclusion being a major aspect... But I am going to have to be the devil's advocate here and tell TV Haters this: Devs have every right to choose which feedback to follow and which to ignore, and most feedback regarding the TVs during betas was "Remove it" and not "Improve it" :/ Devs had a vision and they stuck true to their guns which I really admire since I believed they achieved their objective: To grab a small loyal new audience unique to ZZZ (A mix of Dungeon Crawler and Action Combat, two already niche genres). Sadly that's not what Hoyo as a company was expecting and thus resulted in this change in an attempt to lure back the more mainstream kind of players that left due to the presence of a niche gameplay, sadly I doubt that's ever happening at this point and many of the loyal players who stayed because they loved what ZZZ devs accomplished might now be leaving the game. That's it, I never intended to say who's wrong or correct, just to share my thoughts and real dissapointment as one of said loyal players, I will continue to support Zenless as I believe firmly these are the best Devs any gacha game could ask for and can't wait to see what they do in the future :D And to quote these genius dev team "Well, in terms of feedback actually a player's feedback often times isn't necessarily what they really want".

Like when did it become expected for devs to fundamentally change a game just because some people don’t like it?? This just screams entitlement to me, like I don’t cry & complain about Star Rail being turn-based & expect them to change the game because "else I’m going to quit"? This is all so frustrating for us fans who like the game for what it is.

I still think the TVs are a foundation of the storytelling in this game, and unlike my previous comment on it... I think I actually don't want a "better" replacement for it. I want the TVs incorporated into the story, plain and simple. But I don't know how to appease TV haters, other than that the TV mode will receive optimizations to go more smoothly (which, it would have anyway regardless of it being potentially removed from main story due to negative feedback or not).
@zaregotoch.8491
@zaregotoch.8491 2 дня назад
Sure, it was already in the game but that doesn't mean that it's the "foundation of the storytelling". You can easily tell a better story with the manga panels or in a rallye-like quest as we've seen in 1.2 and in Jane's mission. I just think it's strange how "TV enjoyers" act like ZZZ is supposed to be a puzzle game. That's the issue: action combat and puzzle doesn't mix well and that's why TV mode needs to change.
@zaregotoch.8491

I missed the stream. As a TV hater I have put my thoughts into 2 parts, my complaints and my suggestions/ideas: Complaints: - Visually VERY unimpressive in general and throws me out of the immersion - Gameplay is sluggish and not satisfying and a huge contrast to the fighting - It's just on rails scripted with no freedom to do anything interesting/creative and it just takes a long time to sit though - I disagree that TV is good for storytelling, ever since they removed TV from the main story I've been way more invested. In TV mode it just looks like a parody because you see a low effort representation of what we could've gotten in 3D or animated/in manga panel form (much better). - I personally hated my life every time I had to go through TV quests to the point where I have actively avoided them. - I don't think interrupting action combat with a slow and long puzzle section that holds your hand could ever work and you can't force fighting game lovers to suddenly enjoy puzzles. There was only one TV quest that I enjoyed and that was with the Bangboo Battles. - Don't make the puzzles harder because I already dislike being forced to use my brain to progress when it's unrelated to combat. - Like someone said in Live Chat I play this game *despite* the TV mode being in it. - To me TV is the same miserable experience as the boring puzzles in Star Rail except I'm forced to do them. - I do not agree that it's necessary to show what Paethon does behind the scenes, you can just have the MCs talk in the background and imagine them guiding you. Possible solutions/ideas: - Make it fast paced, make it less about puzzles - Overhaul the visuals, show the characters, maybe cute pixel art of your team while it walks around? (like in an RPG) - Add roguelike gameplay elements to TV mode (resonia, items you can pick up, shop, events) and multiple ways to clear it, basically make it more like Hollow Zero - Have different characters have different passive and active abilities that can be used in those "dungeons" for various ways to clear it Example: you use Anby's Lightning Active skill on an enemy tile - a cut in of Anby appears kinda like in Persona with the eyes- which decreases all the stun resistance of the enemies and then you enter the fight. Example #2: Nicole's passive increases your Gear Coin Gain by 15% so you can buy more stuff at shops. - Maybe add RNG-generated floors like in mystery dungeon games and you fight a boss on the final floor which should be designed in a cool way. - So basically TV will be much more fun because it will be much more like an real dungeon crawler with actual gameplay you can get engaged with. - A simpler but less interesting idea would be adding short TV sections to the combat sections rather than combat sections to the TV sections like rallye gameplay + short TV puzzles to unlock/hack a door/gate for example. - Otherwise maybe TV would be better as a separate/optional thing like the wasted Bangboos on the streets or minigame. - As for storytelling I love the comic panels and I think most of the things that cannot be shown in combat stages should be shown there rather than in TV.

So basically you dislike using your brain & just want "run here, talk to x & repeat" gameplay? Also how does it “throw you out of the immersion" when it’s an *integral* part of Phaeton's story?? Saying that you don’t care about them just shows that you don't care about the Story at all and only want to play combat over and over again until you will eventually quit because it’ll get boring. Also less TV will *not* result in more manga panels/more cutscenes. Honestly just play a different game at this point because you clearly don’t like ZZZ. This is like ordering a Pizza and complaining that it's not Sushi. Play something you enjoy for what it is.

@@cawashkaI do care about the story but I do not care how it looks on Paethon's PC, playing from the perspective of the actual agents is much more interesting gameplaywise & visually as well as more immersive. In TV mode you can't even see the world they are actually in and have to imagine it which a joke because Hoyo has no lack of funds to show us properly. That's why it looks like a parody of what we could've gotten. I love using my brain but not for puzzle gameplay which I'm not playing ZZZ for. Those that skip story won't play the story I'm the first place, they will focus on the side modes like hollow Zero, shiyu defense, etc. There are players that want to play through the story but not have the TV mode. Adding a skip button to the TV system wouldn't help those players because now they would be missing the story to avoid TV gameplay. @@AzrialVanitywow thx for reading my comment , thought since the first thing I wrote was U GOT IT ALL WRONG no one would give me the time of day , after reading sone comments I admit ur chat more civilized and much smarter than me , not like I thought otherwise.. got so pissed at the game while playing the story then took it out here I sincerely apologize to who got offended by the comment, I definitely think that there is a hint of truth, saw earlier other comment that said along the line that they lore watcher (witch they skip the story in game and then watch it later here in ur channel and the tv make that more difficult)

I like the TVs (or maybe I just never minded them), but I honestly think I prefer the rally commission style, specially if they play around with it more, I'm not really a puzzles guy, if the puzzles are too hard I just look them up online, and I've noticed that I kind of avoid as many exploration commissions as possible, also since I'm a story let's play watcher I tend to just skip the story in my accounts, and it's a lot easier to do so without TV sections...
