And yet 343 felt the need to put in a battlepass and overpriced cash shop. Mismanaged is the understatement of the fuckin century my dude. Make no mistake, the reason we got the game in this state is because MS doesn't respect halo fans. They pushed this unfinished game out believing most fans would be stupid enough to just accept it.
Problem is there are a lot of mouthbreathers who will fight to their dying breath defending this clearly unfinished game, and MS is happily taking their money.
It feels unfinished. Even the campaign, the one thing that should be the most complete, feels like it's missing something (and I'm not just talking about the no replayable mission thing). Incompetence, mismanagement, corporate finagling, it was a perfect storm of bad development. But the fact that they managed to nail things like artstyle, music, sound design, and the gameplay loop keeps me from losing complete hope that they can turn it around.
I really dont think they DID nail those things. •Opinions on the art style are subjective. Some people like the art-style changes of 4, 5, and infinite, but all i want is a higher quality version of H3 or reach. Basically H2A with a little of Reach's gritty texturing. •There are a few good tracks (through the trees) but most of them are either forgettable or insulting nostalgia bait (i roll my eyes every time i hear 343 milk the halo 3 piano) •Sound design is the best 343 has done, still not anything to write home about. •the feel of the gunplay is amazing (for most weapons) but the singleplayer gameplay loop is the worst of any halo, even 5. At least 5 actually had hand-crafted levels, they werent as thoughtful as the design of certain previous halo levels. But infinite is just a random mountain copypasted 8 times with random enemies spawning in random places and you can cheese in and out of any fight with the grapple hook. Ammo is too abundant. You never feel backed into a wall ever.
The change in artstyle which was mostly done for them from other halo media before the game started is not a feat, Remaking marty and mikes music is no huge feat either, yet they barely FUCKING USE IT. Most of the game you are in silence. There is no music. In Halo CE-2-3-ODST-Reach. There are silent moments but they dont stand out so much because they are paced well with the music that you dont mind it. Halo infinite is just silent as fuck. Most of the promotional music never plays in actual gameplay but in the credits. the tank run is complete garbage because the tank explodes from a paperclip. and in essence is the only moment in the game where you properly hear the "warthog run" Halo theme. The level design is the laziest of the basket Pine forrest and steel tunnels for years. Narrative story that is absolute garbage, "ok so the created are gon, Atriox is here but whoops he die, fight banished, listen to 999 hardon calls from Donkey Kong, Meet the squid pope who threatens you with the reclamation for the 3rd time in this trilogy and like 2 previous times IT DOESNT ACTUALLY HAPPEN, Here are the Endless the PG version for the flood threat Enjoy........UNLESS THEY DONT APPEAR AT ALL. and closure with Cortana. WHOOPS I GUESS NOT BECAUSE SHE EXCUSES GOING SPACE HITLER WITH "I forgot I was part of a team" like what the fuck is this? You want people to stop talking about Infinite in bad way when 343 are begging to be destroyed in the critics. this shit was in development for 5 years. I dont care what excuses they have, But everything is fine because you can grapple around a tree with a fucking rope.
I love Halo Infinite and it’s one of my favorite games in the series (in terms of the game’s foundation) , but it’s far from complete, that can’t be denied. After six years, it’s not wrong of anyone to expect more content and polish than previous titles. I’m holding out hope for improvements though, I’ve seen bigger comebacks, and I’m sure Halo Infinite will have one, but it just sucks that there’s so much missing
I'm okay with waiting for it to improve. But the game being fixed wont erase history. I feel like too many people are willing to forgive everything 343 has done the moment they pretend to be listening to fans, likely as a Cope because they can't accept 343 is actively manipulating their consumers.
when the game is good, GREAT! But don't be satisfied unless we get a satisfactory product IN OUR HANDS. And also don't fanboy out and get biased "INFINITE is finally fixed!" when they add ONE OF MANY missing features. 343 will stop fixing the game when pressure isnt mounting.

I absolutely agree that the state Halo Infinite is and was in during launch was and IS unacceptable, and a very poor showing after what was 6 years of development time. But I disagree that 343i actively wants to manipulate their fans, or are just pretending to listen to their fans. First you have Ske7ch who has been extremely active with fans, even back during the Flight issues he was providing updates every 30-45 minutes, to now, where he’s been doing the same thing, answering questions, staying active with people, and updating when or where possible. Secondly, the idea that Joseph Staten, the writer of the original Bungie Halos, and Head of Creative at 343i, is “pretending” to listen and care about the Halo community is absolutely absurd. This sketchy development cycle and final product feels like Microsoft influence more than anything else.
Nail on the head. Game should be well worth playing within a year though hopefully. Think overhauling the mtx armory and adding some sort of true progression (not battlepass) would be massive for getting Halo fans to play/come back
I still haven't gotten over the fact they were so threatened by every part of their property's narrative that they felt the need to completely replace every active element. That campaign is brimming with all those old elements, yet ignores ALL of it in favour of absolutely new crap. AND WHY DID YOU PUT CHOPPERS IN THIS GAME IF VEHICLE-ON-VEHICLE RAMMING ISN'T A VIABLE FEATURE?
I feel like the game could and maybe should have just been delayed for another year but Microsoft just wouldn't have it and wanted a system seller for holiday 2021 :+/
Agreed, with the huge lack of content in mutiplayer it really feels like an pre release game but the core gameplay is great with forage coming out hopefully in a few months and if forage is good I think the map drout will hopefully be fixed
Halo 5 multi-player launched with Arena, a 1yr early pre-release multi-player beta, Warzone, Warzone Assault and Breakout all with mode specific maps. While flawed and still incomplete the ambition of Halo 5 multi-player was evident from the start. 6 years later and 3 months post release Halo Infinite we have Zero roadmap, just 5 arena maps, 3 BTB maps no Warzone, Batte Royale or any ambitious new Multi-player mode even announced after years development. You've got all of 343, an entire year delay, Certain Affinity contracted to work on Infinite since Dec 2019 and presumably the MCC team has moved onto Infinite and we sit here still with no content. And why does Staten get a pass? He has been there a year and a half. He didn't the player progression was broken or the prices in the store were ridiculous, or that the community would want Team slayer at launch or why no assassinations in the game when Halo 5 had them 6yrs ago? I am hoping to heaven above they plan big March content drop to coincide with March Halo TV show debut
I haven't really felt annoyed or bothered at all about Halo Infinite's current state but that might just be because I'm used to Destiny 2 and it is also in a similar state lol. (Bad launch > Great future)
Same with me. Halo fans kinda live in a bubble compared to the rest of the industry. A AAA game launching like this is not the end of the world. Stop the doomuim production.

I would change the coatings for an actual color wheel and armor skins that you can paint the way you please within those patterns, like the green camouflage coating, picture that pattern but with the option of painting it black and white, blue, red, yellow, brown….
It's the network and desync issues man, I can sorta withstand other issues like weapon balancing, MMR, etc. But the desyncing just completely ruins it. Like most have said it has a solid foundation, but there's a ridiculous amount of fixing needed.
When they released the multiplayer early I was okay with some of the performance issues and lack of content. But at this point I expect more than the little content and improvements they’ve added
90 fucking dollars early access with just the bones of a tasty chicken wings. Might as well play 7 days to die. Or maybe they are trying to compete with it 🤔
What would I change/add? More maps, better customization (seen really good ideas in reddit for this), fix all of the desync related issues and fiesta BTB just for the chaos.
Completely agree that the game can be turned around and that gameplay is killer. But by labelling it early access or beta or even thinking about it in those terms excuses 343/Microsoft of their responsibilities to us as customers. This game needed to be delayed even more than it was or stay in free beta stage for a lot longer. The early access preview was so much fun that I can't see running if for longer as a negative. Also glad to see someone else pick up on the mismanagement of this game. There needs to be a much clearer vision for Infinite over the coming years or it will become just another live service clone
I think there's a lot of unrealistic projecting here on based what you want a finished game to look like vs what the reality of a finished game looks like
I think people just wanted the same amount of features that came with past Halo games: Forge, Firefight, expressive player customization, team slayer on launch, playlist variety, etc. The gameplay is alright but Infinites infrastructure is a major downgrade from what even Halo 3 launched with in 2008, even with the troubled development. I dont think people expect products to be less inovational than their predecessors so yeah they're going to be upset when the game barely has more features than Combat Evolved did
I absolutely love this game, I’m still playing everyday and have yet to just get tired of it, but I see the problems, I wish there was more content and the game released with the same amount of content that reach did. I have faith that in time 343 will find their sweat spot of bug fixing while adding new content, like everyone is saying this game has the potential to be the best halo ever and even one of the best online shooters out there, it just needs the time and support of the halo community to push it where it needs to go.
The ignorance on twitter is unreal, people just have their head in the sand and keep quoting HCS viewership (which has FOMO twitch drops) as if that's a good metric for the games health.
If I could change one thing? I would remove the free to play shit. Set a price on the game and make the custumasation like I halo 3. Remove all in game monetasation
Is this the new excuse? Why can't Halo fans just admit that this game absolutely needed more time to release properly? I love Halo just as much as everyone, but Halo content creators need to stop telling their audience what to think. We had expectations, they weren't mad, simple as that. Microsoft and 343i are the ones to blame for this. They are clearly still out of touch with their community, they clearly don't know what their fans expect when a game releases. This game is not in early access. I'm willing to bet that if this game was full price (campaign + multiplayer), it would still release incomplete, not because it's early access, but because it needed more time, and it shows.

And why is does Staten and Halo community manager take the public hits for 343 stumbles. Bonnie has given up even trying to have any meaningful communication with Halo fans. She takes no public responsibility for the disappointments and it makes you question the leadership or lack thereof within 343. She should be the Phil Spencer of 343 and Halo. Being the PR and taking the heat for the team when things go bad and to offer hope. Spencer was out there when xbox was at its worst. Where has Bonnie been? I didn't say fire her, I'm saying the game is out. Msft and xbox are doing some.big things in gaming right now. She should communicate where state of Infinite is right now good or bad
They somehow took previous legendary working Halo titles, bunch them all in one game (MCC) and somehow made it arguably the worst launch in video game history. And then took 6 years to fix legendary games that were previously working. What to expect from Infinite? I don't know but yes the gameplay feels great however the vehicle gameplay is the worst of all Halo games. I want Infinite to succeed though.
Early access title for a game that has been in development for how long? The game has a foundation but its not gonna last unless they can actual put some meat with their potatoes. This game has half the content of ancient titles. Good foundation but 343 has no idea how to manage time well and a huge portion of people aren’t going to wait for them to make more/better maps, modes, forge etc.
The game is annoyingly close to being perfect. The gameplay is there. It's just the sever issues. Desync, latency, ping, is the only thing that is keeping me from actually enjoying the game.
Those things are so mismanaged and broken though, and then there is a host of other issues with Lack of content, and an engine that 343 don't know how to work with, being Slipspace. It's not really close to perfect my dude, they literally told us their UI doesn't support changes to the store, they are that lost with their Own engine.
I agree that we should look at Infinite as beta/early access BUT the thing is... its SHOP is full functional which is BS. If its not a "complete" game it shouldnt have a fully functioning shop that can take your money :))))
Honestly on Xbox Halo is in beta, but in PC is barely a pre-alpha lol, I have never been more dissapointed with a game than with Halo infinite, I honestly regret paying 60 dollars for the campaign and 20 dollars for the season pass, I literally paid it because they said we could earn everything through playing the game so I wanted to support those decissions, but guess what? they lied in a video directly and now my faith has been totally vanished. I have a 3060Ti and sometimes on menus and gameplay I get sub 20 fps, is actually insane, and some friends of mine everytime they get into a vehicle the game crashes.... man this is so sad, I really wanted to love Halo this time around but things are not what they used to be 🙃, even with other franchises like Batlefield and CoD. I' ve been more happy playing older games tbh. They prioritized monetization with the excuse of "hey we are free to play" (when the campaign is still 60 dollars so they just took away the MP from the value) and created even more problems like excesive cheating due to f2p and almost everything related to progression is tied to monetization, so no, I won't buy anything from 343 again and is sad that I say this but this game is not even polished to be released, is an early access title that has a cost of 60 dollars and monetized... sorry but this was on purpose by higher ups in either 343 or microsoft, so no thanks I am done with Halo infinite unless they literally change every system (which they won't, a lot people already bought cat ears)

This is not an early excess or beta game. This is an unfinished and broken Game which was released anyway because they needed a beloved franchise to sell the new xbox and gamepass. A beta is a play test to get feedback by players an improve the game before the release. Also early excess games should not have paid seasons or cosmetics. Remember years ago battlefield 4 was in the same position and no one called it a beta that time.

Covid was 2 out of those 6 years, friend. Halo games typically have a 3 year dev cycle and 343 made Halo 4 in 2 while not having a headquarters for part of its development. Covid definitely played a role, but to claim it as the sole reason for Infinite’s current state when we saw upper management shake ups like we did is just unreasonable.
@@TheReachWay it's not the sole reason, but it's the biggest one in my opinion. It was two years, that's a lot of the development cycle. We can see the same issues in the other games. Covid took a major role and is fair to mention it
@@gabrielb8472 Covid played a role but it was definitely not the biggest issue. Outside of Battlefield it’s not like every game releasing late Covid is mechanically broken and content deficient. I want to chalk it all up to Covid believe me, but I think It’s been brought up more than enough times in order to excuse and deflect from what ultimately was a management problem. The creative director of the entire project was let go ahead of the original 2020 release date, if that doesn’t scream a bigger issue I don’t know what does.
@@TheReachWay Halo Infinite is far from being mechanically broken. And almost every week one game is being delayed, some with multiple or indefinite delays. And it's just not Battlefield. Just look at Cyberpunk, GTA, CoD.... From the new shooters Halo is the one in better shape. It is a world wide phenomenon in every industry. No hate, just saying that this time your criticism is not on point. Pd: Joseph Staten was involved in the project way before the oficial announcement. Chris Lee leaving the studio wasn't something of last minute, neither Joe's participation in Infinite.

Honestly Halo Infinite has the worst online experience I have played since SvM Blacklist on the 360 and is very clearly unfinished, custom games are broken and missing core features, game crashes multiple times daily on PC, and the game as a whole is missing a staggering amount of content. The fact of the matter is we wouldn’t be having this conversation if there weren’t major problems that you want to discount. Trust me you’re talking to someone who gives 343 every benefit of the doubt, I’ve been to the studio multiple times and am personal friends with many of the devs. My argument is not targeting the talent at 343, but rather those managing the talent. Regardless, the project is under new leadership with Joe, and I’m super optimistic about the future of the game. And to address that point about Joe, according to him he was never involved on a deep management level until they formally brought him on. I get your desire to defend 343 when you see a RU-vidr critique them but I’m not blaming the devs for this, they crushed it and developed a wonderful core game despite the challenges they faced. But the point you continue to miss is that there had to be an issue outside of Covid that resulted in the state Halo Infinite is currently in. Saying I should have mentioned Covid is a valid critique and I should have mentioned it. But I suppose I consider it a given at this point. oo and what id change/add/done differently with Infinite would be : Marty O'Donnell on staff, and round up all the OG Halo dev's. we would have had a totally different game. I almost forgot what would be nice to see is the removal of all micro transactions from the game that you cant get just by playing the game to unlock.
Nope. Go back to r/halo. The game works. And just because there are a few server issues doesn't mean it's in beta for Christ sake. Games don't work like they used to weather you like it or not. By your logic halo infinite will never be finished until it's very last update.
I disagree with this completely. I've been a Halo fan since Halo 3 I've played all the games even Spartan assault and I have to say... Infinite is in my top tier of Halo games. Yes there's not much in the multiplayer but jeez is it fun. And the campaign is by itself in my top 3
Never said it wasn’t fun, but the multiplayer objectively unfinished. I absolutely adore this game despite its flaws and play it daily. I’m sticking with it for the long run

Yeah I mainly was trying to communicate that we have to think about Halo Infinite as an early access game in terms of the level of expectations/content we have and the update frequency. I tried my best to point out the managerial stuff in the vid as I 1000% believe upper management is to blame for the state of this game. Sucks where we're at but we just gotta keep on waiting unfortunately.
