An IRL hoverboard wud most def actually work on water; assumin its electronics are protected (which id imagine they wud be bcuz dust and the like). Actual hovercraft works equally as well on water as it does on land and i cant imagine theyd remove such a feature from a hoverboard. Yes, that scene always bugged me heh
