yeah we have in shed feeding and we used to feed 7kg a day in the shed during winter (autumn calving) now we only feed about 3kg a day cows are doing about 550 a season on twice a day
Could Look into doing Lucerne to keep them milking through summer/ early autumn months. Can even look at Drilling an annual into the lucerne late autumn for the winter period to mop up the excess nitrogen and help with shadowing out weeds
@FamilyFarmingandFun yes. You have a good system, it works for you and family and I wouldn't change it. I used to be staunch TAD but I had herd homes and a mixer wagon. My mate was next door where I am now and showed how good OAD was, especially for his young family, economics still work out , so he's happy like you
