I must the only person that loves Carnival of Souls. People never gave it a chance. It's Revenge on steroids. So many killer songs on there.

Great episode! I personally really enjoy Hot In The Shade but I can't argue with those points that were raised about it either.

Great show! In Your Face, the Japanese bonus track from Psycho Circus should have been included on the album. Probably would have been jousting the title track for the best song on the record.

"KISS KLASSICS" is my most listened to KISS album, totally awesome. "Rock and Roll Over" is their greatest album ever!!!!

Fun show and good discussion about a seminal US band. I mentioned elsewhere 'Dynasty' derailed me from the KISS train and I never got back on. While there are good tracks on the following records I would rather they were all gathered on one record and dispense with all the filler. And regarding 'Soul Station' - OMG.

Hot in the Shade with better drumming, a proper production and without "Read my Body", "King of Hearts", "Hide Your Heart", "Rise to It", "Boomerang" and "Love's Like a Slap in the Face" would be my 2nd favorite non-make up Kiss album from the 80's.

Actually Paul's voice started going after the first run of his solo tour which ended in November 2006. That's when his voice first started to crack and only got worse from there and then he had his throat surgery and it only made it worse. Btw, I like Paul's second solo album from 2006. It's the last time Paul sounded great.

A fun entertaining show! I could say top 3 least favorite but 5 is hard because I dig most of the catalogue.. 5.The Elder 4.HITS 3.Crazy nights 2.Sonic boom 1.Destroyer... all had great songs but I never listen to these except Elder..I'm burned out with Destroyer..I like 4 songs off it

From a music stand point, I love Psycho Circus! But with the behind the scenes BS and ghost players on it, it's a letdown but I'm looking at it in a positive way just like Creatures, full of ghost players but the music does the talking just an incredible album. And yes! Asylum is a great overlooked album ,my favorite non makeup album

I think Martin was a lil' juiced by the end of the show. He was very animated and taking no prisoners with his critiques. Those beers were going down quick.

Nothing like the pre Dinasty Kiss era. But they kicked as in 1992, no make up and real heavy metal look. Alive 3 is awesome. I think Bruce was the perfect guitarist for them, Tommy Thayer is awesome too.

I've said the same thing, Hell Or Hallelujah sounds like Modern Day Delilah 2.

Entertaining show. Martin went IN!!! Even if I didn't agree with everything he said, he really cracked me up! Of the 20 studio albums, my bottom five in descending order: 05/16. Carnival of Souls (Love 6 songs on here. The other 6 are just ok. Don't hate this like many others seem to.) 04/17. Revenge (I don't rank this one quite as high as many other fans. It's still a pretty good album, though.) 03/18. Hot in the Shade (Hack: "Abysmal." LOL!! Some good songs, but I don't like the production, way too long, and many of the 15 songs sound half-baked, and are largely unmemorable.) 02/19. Sonic Boom (You can probably guess where I'm going with this.) 01/20. Monster (These last two sound like a tired and finished band. Both leave me very cold, especially this one. This is easily my least favorite KISS album.) Incidentally, I love Psycho Circus, but I understand why many don't like it. I wasn't a big KISS fan at the time of its release, so the circumstances surrounding it don't affect me as much. Unmasked is in my Top 5, and I actually love Crazy Nights. Great show!

Mike. / DEAD on. In 1984, I saw a video with Paul Stanley , and he could not say it with more passion, that IF he wanted to talk politics, he would stand on a soap box. He said , it should not exist. Now , he does not shut up. Actually, he went from my favorite to my least favorite.

Great show..I first heard kiss in 79 and they were my gateway to heavy metal and hard rock..I kinda lost interest after asylum but recently I've rediscovered them through youtube.. living in Scotland they never toured here til lick it up so I only ever heard about the live shows in the 70s. They have produced some rubbish thoughts years but as my first rock band they will always be my first love. I can still remember my disappointment at hearing the elder for the first time the day it came out.. what were they thinking..but all was redeemed by creatures..

Take the make off and what do you get there as good as Sweet or maybe the Bay City Rollers or the partridge family 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

TOUGH, first concert I ever saw - 12-16-77 @ the “ infamous “ MADISON Square GARDEN, definitely my 2 least favorites. No 1 PYSCHO 🤡 CIRCUS. My second least favorite: 🥵 HOT in the SHADE 1989

I know Hot in the Shade isn’t great but I still like the album and far from my least favorite. I’m a sucker for slide guitar and that’s why I like the opener “Rise to It”

36:00 - Martin Popoff ridicules 80s commercial Hard Rock as "hair metal", but loves 70s Commercial rock. In this caricaturised version of history, Hard Rock dies out around '83 and turns into what he calls "hair metal" (as if Paul Stanley looked like marine recruits before that) This is a shallow, decontextualised narrative, and Kiss' own history refutes that. '80s Hard Rock had evolved into' 90s Hard Rock style and 'Revenge' is a good example of an old-School band updating their sound. At the height of Grunge in '92, Kiss was still selling out arenas. ( Btw' Crazy Nights' has cheesy lyrics, sure, but its not more cheesy than 'Christine Sixteen')

Animalize, Rock N Roll Over, Lick It up, Dynasty, Unmasked worst albums to me, but all their real early albums sound so dated, listening to them now, remind me of early to mid Sweet band. and i can't listen to them so juvenile sounding, Revenge is their best and coolest album.

Thanks Hack and Martin and Mike for doing this list this was pretty easy for me but I have to say that not only are these my least favorite Kiss albums but also they're just not good at all.......here is my list for my least favorite Kiss albums : 1. "Music from the Elder" (1981...... to me maybe the most bizarre album ever made to me only two songs on the album are good......."World without Heroes" and "The Oath" 2. "Unmasked" (1980) ........I just didn't like this album......there was just that certain something missing from this album but I don't know what that was 3. Peter Criss solo album (1978).......sorry but I'm going to break the rules here......because since I really like for the most part all of the 80's and the early 90's non--makeup era except for one album (see no. 4 below) I needed to put something else here and this is the album to do so.......to me this is just an absolute DUD OR TURD of an album 4. "Hot in the Shade" (1989)........not many good songs it has FIFTEEN SONGS WAY TOO MANY on the album and sorry but I liked the album better when it was called "Crazy Nights".......lol 5. "Psycho Circus" (1998)........did not like this album I remember at the time really looking forward to this album and it was extremely disappointing to me........the first studio album made off the reunion tour to me not many good songs on the album I found it boring it probably could have been better

I hate these "We pick our 5 least KISS albums" shows that people do. The episode is such a downer. I was definitely in a better mood before I started watching this. Holy moly!!! I can't even star for the end. To sit through this is like pulling teeth. Ouch!

- Kiss has always been a commercial Rock band, There's not really any musical change between their 70s and 80s output.
