@@AmyRuby it does and you can't hear the horns;-; there's like 6 and there's only me and my friend who plays French horn you can barely hear me even when I have the melody
@@Sous4m4n As much as people like to claim the instrument they play is the hardest, the horn is the MOST difficult to play in the brass family. Even google says so, look up the top most difficult instruments to play and the horn is right up there with the violin. You have to play through sometimes 22-30 ft of tubing (depends what horn you have... single, double... etc.) and it's also the smallest mouthpiece which makes your embouchure SO important. Most brass instruments do not require you to fully depend on your chops, but the horn is ALWAYS relying on your embouchure. Yes, all brass instruments do, but not to the extent the horn does. Why do you think even professionals have fracks and that so many people quit the horn? Because it's very difficult. Not to mention tuning is a whole circus in itself... should I tune with this slide, this one? The bell? Hand further in or out? Not to mention how awkward it is to even hold the horn while playing, as the bell faces behind you, we sometimes have to use panels behind us to reflect the sound back to the front. And as you rest your hand inside the bell, the only thing holding your instrument up is your left hand which plays the keys (so it cramps easily) and your bell is resting on your leg which can sometimes slide if you're not wearing shorts or a skirt. And no, you can't just grab the bell and hold onto it, or else the tuning will sound bad and you'd be holding it incorrectly. Just a SINGLE movement in the bell and you could be completely out of tune, so you are always tuning with your hand, more than any other brass instrument, especially with the 20+ ft of tubing. It also has the WIDEST range out of all the brass instruments. Which is why parts for horns can go from playing high parts like the trumpets or very low parts like the tuba. Not to mention the amount of breath control you need for it is insane. It's always shocking to me just how easy it is to play the mellophone for marching band or the trumpet fo jazz band... the crazy lack of embouchure I need for the euphonium, and the easiness of the cornet and flugal... everytime I play other brass instruments I'm like "How can it be this easy??" But it just is, and it's a nice break, but playing the horn is also very rewarding in itself. People are always saying how hornists are always fracking notes or playing incorrectly... you don't hear those problems with other brass instruments as much, right? That's cause the horn is actually very hard to play lol Look anywhere online, the horn is always top 3 for most difficult instrument to play. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D6amB-tnzpk.htmlsi=UH06WFkPpkz1ioiK Look at this to see how ahem special the horn is compared to all the brass instruments.
I play French horn of course people forget that I exist. True story, band director didn’t have one for years so I had no extra sectional rehearsal placement and got to sit wherever.
I was the only French horn player in my middle school able to play out of the French horns octave scale😂 I have played French horn since 2016 I’m thinking about getting back into it
Saxophone part is true Underrated is true Need to play louder is true No recognition is true Puddle of spit is very gross but true As a French horn this was all just facts
Nah cuz we came back from summer and I hadnt emptied my spit in a while so I was having trouble playing notes for the first 2 weeks until I emptied it, and now I play the loudest because im so used to playing with spit (director tells us we're at perfect volume now lmaooo)
The saxophone thing is so true that I rewrote the part for sleigh ride this year to mix in some of the actually decent saxophone parts because it wouldn't be anything new.
i know how to play the french horn, but my band director just lets me play mellophone the entire year instead of switching between marching and concert seasons
I play french horn, of course judges ask if my band has french horns there are 4 of us and we horrifically underplay and my band horrifically overplays as we were told 🙅♀️🙅♀️
Me and my band director both play French Horn, of course I still don't get proper recognition or proper time Also almost everything else in this video is accurate
I play French horn, of course everybody thinks they can pick up my instrument and play it easily WHEN THEY CANT EVEN BLOW INTO IT WHEN THEY TRY 😭😭 (why do we always have to sit next to the damn saxophones 😭)
Ikr I can barely hear myself because the damn saxophones are always playing louder than they are supposed to. The band director: I put you next to the saxophones because you sound the same and have the same parts. Same sound maybe. Same parts? Not always.
👀there’s 3 other altos In my band and I’m really the only one that knows what I’m doing so I have to play loud in order for my part to be heard….. we also have no French horns😭😭😭😭
I’m an alto player and we have no French horns in our class😭😭 there are 3 other altos one berri and a tenor😭😭 out of the altos im really the only one that knows dynamics😭 one of the other altos kinda knows what to do but does not know dynamics😭😭 the others really don’t play sooooooo🥴 but in my marching band we have 2 mellows and they have very similar parts to mine but they also have a little bit of the trumpet part i think!
RIGHT. we do sectional plays sometimes (where each section plays a specific note or rhythm) AND HE ALWAYS FORGETS FRENCH HORN 😀🙏 but he never seems to forget the trumpet or euphonium or any other section ☹️
DUDE WHAT DO YOU MEAN PROPER RECOGNITION AT PROPER TIME???? MORE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT A FRENCH HORN IS THAN A EUPHONIUM. I HAVE GOTTEN CALLED A TRUMPET, TUBA, TROMBONE AND SO MUCH MORE😭😭😭 (even my band director forgets I exist)
