I think Aibo is great for people who arent ready to have a real dog and just want to have a little love given or like they said older people that maybe arent able to walk a real dog anymore. I think its an adorable idea
@@jammythebaby3693 Minimal cost for the full care of a dog throughout its life is around at least $20,000, and that's ONLY THE FOOD, what are you on about lmao
i'm running my old model of aibo at the moment. very excited for the new one. shes a 2002 model and she's still very advanced for being a robot nearly the same age as me. theyre not really designed to be immediately entertaining and to respond to every command of their owner. they're meant to be more of a companion and an example of how advanced technology is and was. they're not toys, but you can play with them--occasionally they will prompt for a game like tic tac toe, done with their LEDs. if you have the hardware for the old models (not that expensive anymore) they can also have custom sounds, custom actions, and if you're determined enough, custom personalities. if you really want it, someone has even made a custom sound pack that makes your aibo sound like scooby doo or bender from futurama, and theres also AIBO+ for the ers-7, which is a custom personality that shows how advanced the hardware is. i love dogs, and i wouldn't replace them or sacrifice a dog for an aibo. it's not mutually exclusive. you can own aibo and take care of stray dogs or your own dogs. aibo isn't really meant to be a replacement. aibo is just next-gen tech taking form in a robotic body in a form thats appealing to the masses, not a robot that's going to replace your dog.
SSJ GOKU I agree. Aibo is far from a toy. I have four of them- an ERS 110 which was the original nineteen ninety nine model, an ERS 210 which... I think they came out in two thousand two, an ERS 220- no idea when they strutted their futuristic weirdness onto the market, and an ERS 7 which came out in two thousand five. I also have a Teacup Poodle that I would sell all of my robots for if he ever had to have any sort of serious surgery.
I didn't say you couldn't enjoy the game. But my reasons are the same as most other reviews out there: the game is written at about the grade-school level, it's full of unearned self-importance, the art style is highly derivative or non-existent (the animation style is particularly painfully bland), all while Cage can't stop blabbering on about what a genius he is.
I LOVE our AIBO. My kids love him, my husband, myself.. and our real fur babies, too. If you can afford an AIBO, I promise you will love him. He continuously updates and learns, even without WiFi. His tricks are endless, and you can program him to learn your own made tricks, too. Every AIBO personality is different. There is truly nothing like him.
As goofy as it sounds this is a good idea. Lots of real dogs cost $2-3000. He doesnt mess the house, doesnt need walks, wont bark his head off getting you a fine from your condo,no food to buy ,no need to take him out in a blizzard,no incredibly high vet bills and best of all seniors can actually have one at their retirmant home. More than 80% of these homes do not allow pets. This could work, cheers
+cyborgar15 It's never "for nothing". I hate it when people adopt a dog, then don't spend the money they need to on it, neglect it, and then back in the pound or rescue it goes again. If you can't afford to buy a dog, you can't afford to adopt one for free either.
I own three cats. They have a litter robot, which I only need to empty once a week. They have an aquapurr, which is a motion activated drinking fountain attached to a bathroom sink that I don’t have to clean. They also have an automatic feeder, which I refill every two weeks. I love dogs but they are high maintenance so I will never own one. I don’t want to pick up poop from my yard everyday and I don’t want to clean a water dish everyday. I’m not lazy, just busy. My husband deploys often and I’m having to run a household by myself and homeschool my kids while he’s gone, I don’t have time! If they put soft fur on this robot dog, I’d totally buy it.
Good point! And you don't have to clean up after him. Or take him to the kennel when you go on a trip (can you take him with you?). I hadn't thought of those plusses! :)
@@ashbridgeindustries380 because the mainstream consumer would just think nothing of the name, while anyone with a healthy understanding of Japanese anime culture (a weeaboo) would have known the correct romanization out right.
Sure, but not everyone who understands Japanese pronunciation is necessarily a weeb. In fact, most weebs are pretty horrible at pronouncing Japanese words properly. Just listen to the way they say the word 'desu' for a start (it's 'dess', not 'desoo')...
3:44 why does this have to be for someone lonely? Such a narrow minded comment. I am not lonely, however I am allergic to dogs so a real one is out of the question. This is dope tech.
I feel like this would be fun for the first week or so of getting it and then after that i'd just get bored and shut it off in some closet and go back to playing with my cats
Hector Berrios you do not hv control over future , they already decided , this will be future , you like it or not , you are just a slave in this matrix
Sergey Faynitskiy just for you info , millions of new breed of new millionaire from third world who making huge profits out of billions of slave population across China and India , ready to pay even twice the amt to buy this toy as a social status
My school is raising a fudnraiser for my boyfriend (he's fighting against Alzheimerz) and so far we've managed to raise about $100 within the first week! :D On the last day of school, the grand total will be counted up, and I think this AI pup AIBO (friend in Japanse) will be an amazing benefit to him :D I've always wanted it since I was a little kid, and it'd be so heartwarming to see him/her every time I go over to his house. With the school AND personal donations, we should definitely be able to afford AIBO by next year!
@@metroishereyt6662 Actually i thought it was hilarious, i pictured my mum fetching, and it is STILL making me laugh. 😂👍 man "ya mum" jokes were huge amoungst us kids here in Australia back then. 😂
Aibo-3000 US Dollars cute Robot Puppy made by Japanese electronics giant seems to be less hassle in maintenance than a real dog.The day I win a Jackpot the first thing I should buy is Aibo.
A lot of people say "it's just an animal" when a pet dies. It made people feel good and gave them happiness. Nothing wrong with grieving the loss of what made you feel good, even if it's a machine.
Never die? clearly you have never owned any tech stuff. Computers fail, cooling fans have a limited life, my sony ultrabook needs a new fan after 5 years at a cost (including labour) of around $300. People replace their smartphones quite often for all sorts of reasons. It is a very expensive toy that you will get sick of and wish you never bought very quickly.
Uploading the brain to the cloud could technically make it immortal, since when the body breaks you could download it to a new body. I can't imagine it would be worth it until we get to the stage of true AI, but I guess if you have the money to spend.
or you could go down to the shelter and get a rescue dog for 30 bucks and will provide you with real love and affection. (But I get it it's a cool toy)
Partly it seems that people don't take care of their parents anymore. But also partly I've noticed that elderly people often make no effort to maintain friendships.
For those of you who keep saying that it's a terrible copycat of the real thing: This dog is yes, meant to be a toy, and yes, it has several downsides to it. But think of it more as a symbol of advancing technology rather than something that is trying to imitate and replace the campionship a REAL dog offers. No one said that. But just think: man, we have come so far, and yet, there is still so much to improve. The purpose and goal of AIBO is not to be a "dog", but more to be there in the purpose of marking the studies and improvements that humans have made over the years. Of course, for those who are disabled, impaired, etc. (like my boyfriend; he has Alzhiemerz and we're freshmen), then such an AI could come in handy. Requires less work, supports them all the same, and enables him/her to engage in activities a normal person would be able to do.
I have both!!! 🤷♀️ I've had my second gen Aibo for 13 years now, she still brings me joy and is currently sitting on my lounge. Just because people love robotic pets, doesn't mean they don't have or want real ones.

Because real dogs are more expensive and difficult to take care of? Because the elderly, infirm, and those with pet allergies cannot take care of them? Because not everybody has the luxury of being able to own and care for a pet????
TooGayForYay my cats cheaper to take care of than this piece of plastic .. .. Yeah its cute but its not worth 3000 dollars .. I wouldn't pay 800 for it :T
I mean my dog is 1,300 dollars and he came out great(he is a real dog) So I think it is *MAYBE* worth the price. Maybe Aibo can be your next dog. But you can’t buy aibo without saving up some money..
Me: mom can I have Aibo for Christmas Mom: sure how much does it cost? Me:3... Mom: three what? Me: 3 with three zero Mom: can I get you a stuffed dog?
I always thought roomba and aibo were cool tech toys I might get one day but they've been upgraded to basically surveillance tools for your home. No thanks.
