We Put A Picnic In A Pumpkin! An Autumnal Miniature Diorama

The Miniature World of Kit and Caboodlers is the one place for videos I truly look forward to each week. I know when I get here it will be fun, entertaining, instructional with a flavor of fantasy and whimsy! Fleur and Kate, you NEVER disappoint! This one is so very charming. I love how the snail came out and how it’s having a picnic with the pumpkin lady, very clever. To have it around an actual snail that was looking at it like it was the king of snails! That was so cute.

Kate, some thoughts to keep in mind about your snail: the bottom, what he moves along on, is called the foot. So it should be wide and flat. And thins out along the edges. His big antennae are his eyes and the short ones are feelers, but you can think of them as his nose for positioning purposes. And you can use toothpicks (cocktail sticks) or pieces of wire instead of clay so they are sturdier. Just paint them to match the body. He has a tiny mouth on the underside of his head, if you watch a snail you can see them eating with their mouth. Your head shape is perfect. Also the size and length of the body are spot on. If you make 10 more, you will be an expert! And I think you should! And as you said, leave them all over the house. Or put one in or on all your houses. It can be your signature.

I once grew a huge pumpkin to put my baby granddaughter in and take a picture of for her to enjoy when she got older. Haha the pumpkin grew so big it overdid itself and rotted off!! So a picnic in a pumpkin is not such a strange idea. My granddaughter who is now 17 thinks it was a great idea. Even though she hasn't got a photo. HaHa

If you ever do another fruit or vegetable diorama. It might be fun to decoupage a contrasting wall-covering onto the interior. With micro-needlepoint, or portraiture for accent. Loved this picnic vignette. Well done! ☺️
