I am diabetic. My doctor/nutrionist both tell me to eat ONLY when I feel hungry. The problem is that I have a huge appetite and sometimes it's hard for me to distinguish between hunger and appetite. Diane
Hi Paula (i was formerly memawsmarket) The last week of December 2023, my hubby and i decided to go carnivore. Did not even know anything about carnivore month coming up! Keto for 2 years but i was getting blood sugar spikes after every meal that included veggies and other things like low carb tortillas, etc. My blood glucose almost immediately stayed around 95 to 105 when we switched to carnivore. That is my NSV! However, still have not lost any weight. All the carnivore influencers say something different. Eat more fat to lose weight, eat less fat to lose weight, eat more protein, eat less protein, etc... It is incredibly frustrating! I am 60, and need to lose 80 lbs. 😢 I am using that same app you have. I feel like i am not getting enough calories but honestly, sometimes taking one more bite of meat makes me gag. I would love to be able to join a group but i am not working and so no pennies to spend on that! I'll be watching your channel more diligently to see how stopping the IF is working for you. God bless!! ❤
I like cottage cheese too. Daisy brand, if you can get it does not add starch. I find it a little boring so I will on occasion add in a small spoonful of salsa and or grated cheese.
I had my labs drawn 1/30/24, started out with weight watchers but quickly moved over to Keto after watching you guys. My labs were so exciting, my A1C went from 7.8 to 6.5 and my cholesterol surprised me, my bad cholesterol number was alway high but it was in the normal range this time, my total cholesterol number was 171. I cannot wait to see the doctor 2/7/24 - going to have him take me off these meds, by the way I’m down 27lbs 🥰
You look great! Happy anniversary! Can't wait to see your results! I feel that most people would feel better and be healthier if they would just give up ultra processed food and sugar and eat a more whole food diet. I am a huge supporter of IF too!
Funny you should talk about not getting enough protein Paula. I was just learning that could be why I am experiencing less weight loss although my clothes and body do feel better and different but the scale is not moving as much. I usually do go by how I feel not by the scale and was surprised when I did weigh myself. I'm gonna try adding that protein shake like you both have~thanks for the link discount!❤😊
Hi Paula and Ed. As I have shared comments with over the last 6 months, I am so glad you are going the route you are. I am an IF'er too and I am also more Carnivore than Ketovore as time has evolved. Thank you for your platform. When I started sharing with you guys I wasn't sure how well I would be receive as a Keto/Carnivore lifestyle participant. You welcomed with open arms. Thank you. I am going to do this challenge with you guys this month with no IF and using a lot of Maria's E. e-book, I just purchased on line. I can't wait to try the receipes in there for her Protein Sparing ideas and track record of success and she how it goes this month along with you guys. And yes after doing IF for two years it is going to be a challenge! So thank you for your support and understanding and this challenge!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think I may shift to a protein focus as you mentioned in your video. I'm looking forward to seeing y'alls results with that. I think we need it to build more muscle as we get older. And remember muscle weighs more than fat! (self pep talk here! 😜)
Wishing you the best with this challenge Paula. Switching things up oftentimes helps a lot. I’ll be interested to see how it goes. I basically try and listen to what my body is telling me. Sometimes I hungry in the morning and other times not. Go figure, lol😊
I am a big believer in the carnivore diet and will be staying with it. I may add in some ketovore days once in a while, but primarily carnivore. It’s what is working best for me and I feel so much better!
Looking forward to this month’s videos. I’m still having a journey with my health issues, but I know God is in control. I pray this way of eating brings even faster healing for Ed and better results for you.
Hitting protein is really difficult. I started in November and have used Maria Emmerich's PSMF cookbook to help me out. It's been a big help. I've tried PSMF this month and see it's benefits, but I'm thinking of joining you on Patreon in February. I like the idea of coaching availability. As for IF; I mix it up and don't do it daily. I also mix up the times so my body doesn't get used to a routine. Belated anniversary wishes to you and Ed!
I stopped IF a long time back because I wasn’t eating enough and was beginning to feel not so great, I eat three meals a day and have not gained a pound, matter of fact I lost a few more pounds and now am trying to gain them back. Yes you are correct we try different things and see how that works for our bodies and how we feel is the end goal. Might just join in on February challenge, will see how it work. Thanks again!😊
I had to allow myself a larger eating window when I started weight lifting 3-4 days a week. I am hungry a lot earlier in the day when I am consistently walking 3 to 5 miles a day and weight lifting every other day. I think my muscles are saying "feed us! we are trying to grow" -- so I easily meet my protein goal eating 3 meals a day with a more generous eating window of 8 or 9 hours.
I think I missed where you got your numbers for protein grams for the day! 😬 is it just the app carb manager or a different formula? Thanks Paula. Love you guys!
Super newbie here with a quick question: may I ask why you choose to use nut milk for your protein shakes? More protein? Lactose intolerant? Lower carbs? Like I said, I am super new to all this, and I was curious. Hope that’s okay. Thank you! 💖
I’m thinking when you hit your macros, especially your protein macro, you’ll lose the weight faster. I used to not eat until noon or one o’clock, but I was stalled and the weight wouldn’t budge. I was hungry after working out, so I started eating eggs and bacon when I got home from the gym, and my weight started coming off again!
Since doing IF and eating only twice a day, I also found I so hard to get all my protein in. I know your body can only absorb so much, and here I was eating as much as I could just to get over 50g per meal. That was crazy and too hard to continue. I know I'm not getting enough protein, so I'm going to join you in adding more meals and divide up the protein. I was wondering...how long should you go in between meals so protein will be absorbed?
I love watching your channel and you've been very inspiring to me, but I must admit I kinda stopped watching since carnivore became the main focus. I understand what you are saying, it's just personal for me. I'm interested in seeing your 'new' challenge though.
I still think you could get that amount of food in during your intermittent fasting times. Your two middle snacks weren’t that much. Maybe just add an extra hour for your window??
We’re working it out. We can’t eat too much at once we get full fast. It still may change some. We’re just getting started I’m sure will have a few blips
Paula, how long did it take you on Keto to start seeing remission of your autoimmune symptoms? I have Hashimoto’s and have been working on this for two years (low carb, not always keto). Still have the same amount of antibodies.
