I am so excited to see this video. I bought the foil quill a month ago (HSN) and also have a Brother Scan n Cut (kids bought for me for 75th birthday )which I have no idea how to use. Today, watching Mary was the greatest inspiration ever. I am truly grateful to both of you for this instructional video and wish Mary had a channel where she taught the Scan n Cut for beginners or actally taught anything, because she got me as a fan. Thanks again.
Deanna Kuroda thanks for pumping us up today Deanna! You can do this and have fun! If you mess something up, stick an embellishment on it or die cut it!! We will have more Mary videos soon!
@@FromJennysGarden I set up my Scan n Cut and followed exactly your and Mary's video changing the word to Celebrate! It came out really beautiful. I put it on Dark blue using gold foil as a title for a Scrapbook Page. I do scrapbooking more than cards. Thanks again for the inspiration. I have a Cricut as well and know how to use it, but now I am interested in using my Scan n Cut for more than foiling. I am hunting for a RU-vid channel to teach me by demo. Thanks again. Deanna
Deanna Kuroda It is very addicting once you start producing quality work that meets your expectations. I will try to get Mary over here this week to do more SnC videos.
great tutorial ladies having so much fun and only I'm only a beginner you ladies have just made my day I best get ordering from my craft store for the foiling quill Thankyou Jenny and Mary
Ladies thank you for sharing your amazing talent, both of you. I appreciate your help. You sound and look very good friends the laughter and humour was beautiful to see and hear. This is my first time seeing your video so I will be looking for others. Kind regards Paul from London UK
Thank you for showing how to foil. I just purchased this item and can not wait to get started. Thnnks to you I now know how. I have brother's scan and cut and use it all the time.
Well, I am behind the times! I just got my Foil Quill set this week. Mary, thank you so much for saying and showing that you have to screw the quill into the adapter. I watched video after video. Nothing. I could not get my quill to work. After examining the adapter and the quill I noticed the threads🤦🏻♀️That’s when it hit me, you have to screw it in! Enough said, you guys are a delight to watch and listen to. I have subscribed an I “rang the bell”. I’m looking forward to your next video.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I was just about to return my foil quill because I didn’t think it did anything special and especially bigger words and fonts. You showed me what none of the other videos were showing. Appreciate your demo!
I've seen the magnetic mat & magnets used with various electronic cutters, and it looks SO much easier than wrestling with the washi tape. Thanks for the great fill info!
Saw Joanns put We Are Memory Keepers foil kit on a good sale, so I looked up what to do with it because I want to make cards and it looked interesting. Found this video and it's late and I'm tired but I'm jealous I'm not there with you two gals because you sound like you are having a ball. Enjoyed the video and you all made me smile. Fun crafting!!!
Mary, you look stunning! I am over the moon to see and hear the two of you today!! I have a foil quill and LOVE it! I just love the bones of both of you! Have a very Blessed and Magical day, petals!! XX
Loved your presentation, especially when you identified the model of the Scan N Cut (same as mine). I just ordered the unit and foil from HSN during your presentation. I have a Cricut too (not used in 2 years) because I love the Scan N Cut. Thanks for presenting.
Hi Ladies I just got a WRMK Quill kit and was looking up videos prior to using it and found yours today. Excellent video. Boy how I wish I knew someone nearby to craft with, you are so blessed! I plan on trying it today or tomorrow. Your tips and instructions along with their instructions will help me a lot. Tips for you: Mat stickiness: clean mat fairly often with a non-alcohol baby wipe. It works great. That said, once in a while you need to buy a new mat. Brother's Standard cutting mat has been improved as far as the stickiness is concerned. I was very pleased. I also have a 350 and got mine for Christmas in 2015 or 16? The mat that came with it seemed similar to the low-tack mat after just a few uses. I get mine for about seventeen $ on Amazon. WRMK's USB designs: you probably know this already but these are great. I bought 4 of them. There are 200 designs on each one plus one font. There are Moroccan designs too, frames, holidays, phrases etc... I've been waiting for something like this because I was determined not to buy a foil press/machine, it was too much for me. I will subscribe today. God bless and happy crafting.
Welcome Laurel! Thank you for the great tips on the mats. I definitely need a new one and will check out Amazon's deal. Mary & I need to get together again, it is more fun crafting with someone else and learning their secrets!
You were right. I haven't seen any videos about using the fill function. (Thank you youtube for bringing me this suggestion.) I wasn't sure if I wanted to invest in the foil quills, but I think this may have sold me. I've never seen any of your videos, but you two are SO fun. Thanks for the info, and I have to go check out some of your other videos now.
Hi. I’m new to Jenny’s Garden, I really enjoyed this video! The two of you are very entertaining. I’m excited that Mary showed us how to “fill” with the Scan N Cut. I am looking forward to your next video. 💜
That was fun! You guys are funny and engaging and I actually learned something useful. The fill with the Quill is awesome. Oh the things I could do! I will definitely check you guys out again!
Thank you Jenny and Mary for sharing this technique. I love my Scan & Cut and to know I can do this with the Foil Quill has given me some great design ideas. I am also a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been on the fence about the foil quill since I own the Minc. But now it's time to dust off the scan n cut. This is awesome, so many possibilities.
The trick with the SnC and getting good cuts is to cut with as low a blade pressure as you can and cut as slowly as you can. Also, if the tack on your mat is getting too low-tack, clean it off with an alcohol-free wipe, then get the fat Zig two-way glue pen and methodically re-glue your mat, leave it to cure overnight and it will be tacky enough for anything you want to throw at it. There are a number of really good RU-vid videos on how to do this.
Thanks Judi, I’ve used both cheapo spray adhesive & Zig 2-way on my SnC mats. I just get aggravated that you can’t clean & re-use like the Cricut mats. But there has not been a tool yet that “does everything”. That’s how they can patent their technology.
Jenny, that’s my point: you _can_ clean and reuse your mats just like the cricut mats. Have a look at Jen Blausey’s videos on how to maintain your mats.
I love the fill in option! I will need to practice this. Hopefully, I can make it work. I have to wait for a new mat to come. My original mat will not load into my ScanNCut. Brother is replacing it.
Thanks for sharing, just incase anyone else is house bound and struggling the medical tape is commonly known as micropore tape, and yes the supermarket/mall etc is brand is brilliant xx
Jenny, I noticed that you are using the mat with the turquoise strip at the top and purple at the bottom. The mat that I just got from Amazon does not have the turquoise strip only the purple. That mat is so sticky that you have to be careful not to tear your paper when removing your cutouts. Thanks for the video ladies!
CATZ312 the mat is the original from the bundle I bought when I purchased the machine. I’m using it more now that I know you can just use washi tape for most things. Thanks for the advice about finding a sticky mat on Amazon- will check that out!!
Hey I watch Stacey. Thank you for sharing how to use different foils with we r. I love using this tool and so glad that I waited and didn’t get the go press n foil. And have to buy plates and dies to use it
As addicted crafters...we have several foil machines. They each have their own merits. My husband once said, “The right tool for the job.” I remind him of that every time a new tool is unboxed!! 🤣
Hi I am from England. I love your video. I just got my foil memory keeper. Got the new scan and cut machine to. Have you done the video on how to cut the friends out , would love to see it . Going to look for more of your videos, you are brill at explaining everything, Thank Sandra
Hi here in the UK Brother have said that we can use Pinflair stencil glue to restick our mats you can get it from create and craft which is available in the USA
Wow!!!!! didnt know they have fill tip! Thanks. gotta get em now. What pen did u use to fill it? bold? fine? medium? or any of them as long as we use fill option? im sooo tempted now. did u have to download a software or info to have that fill option? sorry for asking a lot cos im very interested in it 🤩
They used the blue (bold) pen. You can use any of the pens. You also can go to tools and select the fill. There you can select different patterns. Depending on the pattern I would use the small or medium pen. Not to say you can’t used the bold one. Go ahead and play with it. It is so fun.
Very good, I guess I will start using my Scan n Cut. I have a Cricut which I use exclusively because I find SNC and Shiloutte software difficult to understand, but I think that I can handle this. Have you all done the next video? I'd like to see how to use your own projects, like how to put my name in and fill the letters from my name, or how to foil then cut. Thanks ladies.
Another thing to try is going to dafont.com and trying out some of their fancy fonts like Zengo using this method. Also, I was told that you don't need the foil press. Because the foil is heat activated, you can put it through the laminator for the same results. I have not tried that yet, but that is what they said.
All great tips are welcome in Jenny’s Garden. S. Kreates I don’t think cricut has a fill. I have not seen either cricut or the camero on Utube where they used the fill button. I just don’t think it is going to be as easy as the SnC. Maybe that’s why we haven’t seen it yet.
Thank you for sharing! I needed this tutorial because I wasn't liking the results of just the outlined images. I have both a Cricut and Scan n Cut and it seems that the Scan n Cut has better options for foiling using the Foil Quil. Can't wait to try it out.
Wow ! Brother has the fill option in it ??!! Cricut doesn’t have a fill option :( ! Silhouette does but you need to pay for the upgraded version to have the fill option activated! I hope cricut adds the fill option soooon ! But for now what you can do for cricut to fill is make your own design in Inkscape and hatch fill it and upload it as an svg on cricut. Cleversomeday just created an awesome video on how to do it in Inkscape: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wYzMujtnkfM.html
Sarah Miles I have a CM350 & Mary’s is the model before that (so its older). As long as you have updated the firmware on your machine, then you should be able to fill. We have not tried the Cricut yet, but plan to in the future.
