Aftersun and Tàr were the best of 2022 and I was bamboozled when Blanchett didn't win the Oscar. When I watched Aftersun for the first time, I felt like what did I watch... I could appreciate the craft but the themes were not clear. And some re-watches behind me, I now think that I can't possibly feel what Wells felt towards her father. It's difficult to understand a man who's constantly drifting away from you all the while sitting right next to you. Some extremely underrated movie/filmmakers recommendations- Complete filmography of Éric Rohmer, Bergman Island, Beanpole, Bacurau, Better Days, Il Traditore, The Great Beauty, Corpus Christi, Entire filmography of Jacques Audiard and Jacques Tati and Jacques Rivette and Jacques Demy, Last Year at Marienbad, The Living Trilogy, Entire filmography of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Z, First Cow, Orpheus, Black Orpheus, Entire filmography of the Archers. Now let's get to the weirder stuff- Pink Flamingos, Burst City, Empire, In the realms of the senses, Funeral Parade of Roses, filmography of Stan Brakhage and Maya Deren. Is it just me or does anyone else have O Brother where art thou as their favourite Coen Brothers movie? I'd also like to get people's opinions and of the channel's main man (sorry mate, I am not good with names) on a few movies- Sans Soleil, Koyaaniskatsi, Samsara, The Beaches of Agnès, News from Home and Flowers of Shanghai. BTW has anyone seen On the Road by Jafar Panahi's son Panah Panahi? Is there any movie more dauntingly daunting and colour-pallete-wise greater than Mishima cause I certainly can't think of any. Finally, what do people think of Taiwanese Cinema?

If anyone is interested to do such things i am not gonna lie to you but these dvd's are way too expensive to buy. First, you need to buy Dvd Player then bluray discs. And Let me remind you all the movie or shows that you'd like you need to buy each disc for each movie or particular season of that show because collection costs alot. Brought up from normal indian family nobody can afford it. Even i would be feeling honored to gather all great pieces of art and placing it inside DVD Closet. Maybe one day this dream will be live in front of my eyes. It costs you around rs. 4000/ - 5000/ good part is it's available on Amazon and Flipkart.
@adityadas5820
@adityadas5820 Месяц назад
You're talking about 4k disks tho. blurays are available for less than 1000 per film, and you can't just build a collection overnight , you need to start by 2-3 films per month. I'm slowly building one. I just buy 4ks for films that i really really love or that look spectacular on the format. And dont buy films you'll never rewatch, or just buying to fill your collection because you're getting it for a low price.

If you have the budget, there are some Criterions on Amazon. You can find Blu-rays of some popular Hollywood films and Indian films there too. Then you could try asking friends in the US or Canada to help you out during the yearly Criterion Flash Sales, and collect from them later. Of course you could also try making the effort of finding surviving stores in your town/city, but that’s a little difficult. Still worth a shot.

My thing with burning is this, I decided to watch it a a month ago as I have heard such great things about the movie and I didn't not like the movie. To me it came came off a little "pretentious". The next thought that crossed my mind was It's quite plausible that I am just stupid and lack "cinematic sensibilities" which was a sobering thought that was hard to tackle as I aspire to be a filmmaker. I love films. I know art is subjective but I still feel stupid whenever think about it. Now here's some of my interpretations of the movie 1 I don't think Steven Yeun's character killed the girl. I believe it was really hard for Lee Joon su's character to deal with her absence after he slut shamed her and he made this narrative up about killing the girl. I think he gave himself benifit of the doubt that when he smoked marijuana he heard him say that he burn greenhouses. Even he did say he burn greenhouses I think he meant he likes to putrefies the "good soul" as the girl wanted to find "meaning". 2: He made the whole thing up after the girl's disappearance as he slut shamed her and it was really hard to deal with it so the part of the movie that takes place after the girl leaves in the car after being slut shamed is all in his head as it is revealed that he was writing a novel at the end so maybe he daydreamed/imagined the whole think and wrote about it as it was therapeutical for him in a way. He took solace in that. Now mind you I have only watched this movie once and this movie was one of those movies that truely "subjective" and open to interpretations. Let me know what you guys got when you watched it.
@Kieslowski1989
@Kieslowski1989 11 месяцев назад
I know that it's to each their own but I feel that Burning is a triumph of Slow-burning (no pun intended) cinema. It's also a triumph of off-the-nose dialogue as in it never tries to explain itself. Keeping things hidden in the mud as we tread forward. My suggestion would be that if you want to give it another try, watch it only this time, don't assume things... Don't try to fill in the blanks. Sometimes it's better to leave the blanks as they are. It might feel more complete that way. Just appreciate the craft. A humble suggestion. BTW I'd love to know about your favourite movies.
