I dunno, I personally thought it got annoying as fuck after like 3 minutes. He loves hearing his voice and just rambles nonstop. Like you said, it felt like 06 commentary and that's not necessarily a good thing. Throwing in some quirky puns and jokes here or there is fun but rambling nonstop the entire time got old quick.

@@Rofflemywaffle while i can definitely see where this is coming from, in a more professional environment, Yipes is an ultra entertaining commentator. dont get me wrong, he does ramble nonstop, but, for example, in Ludwig's World's Greatest Gamer event, Yipes was so amazing in yapping and fit the event so well.

He still has plenty of hits by himself but I feel yipes is the best when (1.) he knows the game very well and (2.) he has someone also funny to bounce jokes and ideas off of like Chris matrix or Lee chung. I met Yipes and his crew at a bar outside of Texas showdown 2023. I was on a melee Hiatus and started playing MK, he looked offended when I asked who he was, and he was kind of a dick head.

Haven't met him myself but most things I hear about him are pretty nice (unless sports or games are involved then he becomes the greatest trash talker😅). It might've just been a case of how New Yorkers can come off as rude to others.

Slippi has done a lot of good for the competitiveness of Melee, but it’s made a lot of them soft. This is what FGC was, in-person and unfiltered. You got razzed in arcades, locals, some random basement at 3am, and you had to deal with it.

A lot of them just seem socially awkward.
