I’m an artist and I often get requested to do car portraits, so the fact that car artwork is in the BOAT tier makes me feel like it’s all worth it. Thank you Donut Media
2 years ago. My brother recreated my drift missile 350z with a hot wheels. He did the custom decals and bodywork down to the rims. I'm 22 years old and to this day. It's the most meaningful gift I've received!
I had an ex actually have a Glass Blower recreate my car. It had all the body lines and quite a few details but also the battle aero wing i have. by far one of the most thoughtful and best gift i've ever received
Yeesh. Don't think I've ever seen a car done. Was it a blower or a lampworker? Impressive either way but blowing is another level. My friends are glassblowers and I've done it maybe 20 times, it's seriously hard and unforgiving. I'm imagining a car is a really difficult shape to accomplish
RC car easily belongs in the B.O.A.T. category. Even if it was one of the Fast and Furious drift cars from Walmart, I would personally be eternally thankful. Those things are fun af.
@@Floridaboyabroad I’ve got the Fast and Furious Supra, Charger, Ice Charger, and a 50 dollar drift Nissan GTR R/C car and I love the death out of them
a trackday has honestly been some of the best stuff in my life, especially when they let you hire out cars driving a 570s at 16 is something i will always remember
I drew my then-boyfriend’s dad’s project bel air as their Christmas card one year, glad to hear it was a good call! He seemed really stoked about it but as a non-car person I was super nervous about messing up the little details. And it definitely did take forever!
I like how James is seated at a bar table and Nolan is sitting on the floor. What. Next video : James atop a bunk bed, Nolan halfway down a basement staircase.
"The feeling of going as fast as you can without worrying about getting in trouble is something everyone should experience." I 100% agree haha it's one of the best things ever ❤
I've lapped round my local track (Sepang International Circuit) 3/4 times on my bike (as in, bicycle) as they occasionally hold events for non-motorsporting activities and hoo baby, that race asphalt is so much smoother than street asphalt! I even stuck a map layout of the track on my bike to be familiar with the layout and a few laps later, I now know every turn and elevation point of the track. I NEED to do the same with a car next! (I don't have a track-capable car tho)
@@antonsjoberg Dewalt is considered pretty good, there are definitely more expensive options though. Most contractors I've worked with seem to prefer going with all Dewalt stuff. I've been really surprised with ryobi with a budget.
Idk, I fell like that’s also what would potentially make it a really incredible gift. The kind of thing reserved for only your best car guy buddy or your S.O. Because if they get it right it shows that they payed enough attention to your driving style that they know exactly the kind of shift knob you prefer. To me, someone getting me a shift knob and getting it right would be like them saying they admire my driving, and the shift knob is proof of that. Now idk about you but as a car guy there’s no greater compliment.
The tools are also good for a car enthusiast who doesn’t have any tools for whatever reason. My dad loves cars and we love working on cars together but he had to borrow some tools. Got him his own set for Christmas. They weren’t to special but he loved it
@@damyanovasen I doubt crashing is even considerably likely, in Germany they don’t just give any moron a license. Basically Germany is not Russia or America.
Bro the universal socket did save me once😂 I had a lug nut that didn’t fit the same size as the rest and the universal socket was the only thing I could get it off with so 100% a boat
With go-karting, I was gifted this one year and it was honestly amazing. I was never really into go-karting, but my parents gifted me a professional go-kart experience where I got to do laps in a professional level go-cart that could easily travel over 100mph. It was honestly one of the coolest experiences I never thought I needed. Obviously this is subjective because of experience, but I can see how some people wouldn’t want it. I think it’d be different based on what kind of karting experience you gifted. One at like a local track might be fun but also boring, but a professional karting experience may be a surprise to them
Man, I really think the tools one is somewhere between Dece and Thanks unless they've talked to you about it before hand. It's just really easy to end up with a duplicate of a tool you already own or a tool that isn't the right size, power, etc for what you need. The detail gift though? That's GOAT.
Sometimes they can be useful. My dad owns a 1968 VW Beetle, and the steering wheel is original, but worn. So the steering wheel hurts to use. Gloves could prevent that.
i think driving gloves are probably somthing you whana buy yourself so you know you are geting the right ones. theres som things that others just can't buy you and driving gloves is one of those things
I was given a non running project car. A 98 dodge stratus. I accepted it graciously because the first car I ever bought was a 97 dodge stratus. Just to make it street worthy, I had to replace the water pump and battery. Still need new tires and a new windshield. But I have started compiling a wish list for the other parts, headlights, body kit, turbo kit for the 2.4L motor. Thanks to Money pit, I have the list I need and advice to start this project. Thank you all for what you do.
at a car show, I found an artistic rendering of my car at like a drive in or something. Found a similar drawing of my friends car so bought one for him too. his return gift was a custom made diamond plate frame for the drawing. pretty cool.
Real talk, those universal sockets are great! I have one in each car road tool kit and one in my home set. They work on so many sizes, stripped nuts/bolts, weird shapes like hooks and screw eyes, etc. They're not the strongest so don't expect to break any super stuck bolts loose with this, but it will save you in a pinch.
Got a gas gift card for my birthday. As a Biker I can use for almost half a year, one of the best gifts ngl. Also detailing stuff is awesome, we love things like this, you will never go wrong with these.
Best car gift I ever got was back in the day when I just got my first car which was a 1998 Nissan Maxima, a friend of mine that I also kind of hustled with called me one day and told me to meet him at our neighborhood tuner/performance shop...when I pulled up he comes walking out with a bunch of boxes, and he had brand new aftermarket tail lights, LED running boards, and a new aftermarket grill. All of it was nice high end stuff that I wanted at the time, except I never really told him specifically what, or that I wanted those things. He just knew I was into the tuner scene (so was he), so he got them for me. Unfortunately years later, that car was destroyed in a street race, with the same guy that got me that stuff sitting in the passenger seat next to me - wasn’t really my fault tho, some guy blew a red light and I T-boned him.
One of my favorite gifts was a detailing kit from my sister. Wouldn’t buy it myself but she new I could use it- also a great gift because it’s something you can actually use
love u donut! James and Nolan you guys are literally the greatest you tubers ur both hilarious and make bad days fantastic love u both keep up the great work.
*Gives a $5 hot wheel that is closer to Nolan* Nolan: "Woah! Thanks: *Is told he can keep something at a house for 6 more month* Nolan: *Basses Shoutint*
I work in a tire shop, one of my past co-workers had a “show me your TTs” shirt with two turbos covering the breast area. He absolutely loved it. To the point that he would wash it every night just so he could wear it almost every day. Not really my taste, but those “harrharrhurrdurr, lookit how clever I am with car stuff” shirts certainly have their market...
I just did that with a manual 2004 civic si that stayed inside for 2 years without running and tracked the owner and bought it for 350$, do it man it's worth it
I got a Craftsman mechanics 200 piece tool set for graduation. All matter of builds, engine swaps, and maintenance later, it's something i use nearly everyday! Tools=BOAT!
only if they're good socks, which cheap novelty socks usually are not. those ones looked like the quality of a 98% scratchy polyester special that some startup would hand out at a job fair. i''m very specific about my socks. i only buy two kinds: winter and summer socks. A not the same brand pair of socks as the rest would mean i'd have to bother matching them and actually get sad when i can't find one of the socks because it stuck to something else in the wash
@@Thumper68 If you're a man you don't need to posture about being one by driving certain things. If the only reason you drive a manual is to prove you're a man, then that's just sad. a man who drives auto because he doesn't give a shit gets more respect from me than one who drives stick to prove a point about masculinity. You're allowed to like things without putting other people down for not liking the same things.
@@arsenalfanatic09 easy snowflake did my joke ruffle your feathers. What’s sad is your reaction and assumptions all over a joke. You earn respect. Your reactions for you going backwards lol
@@Thumper68 your 'joke' was shit and made me sad for all the people who think they have to be macho. It wasn't really a joke since i bet you do think people who don't like driving manual transmissions are less manly. it's not a joke to literally state your opinion using recent slang like 'soyboy'. You come off as quite insecure since you have to justify your hobbies as being masculine. if you like driving manual, then that's good for you. But shitting on other people for not liking it is quite immature and stupid. reminds me of a kindergarten argument about why batman is better than superman. Or when people fought in middle school about playstation being 'gayer' than xbox.
Had a friend make me a model of my old FR-S. Down to having acquaintances of his 3D print my wheels and body kit and everything. Definitely a BOAT gift.
I actually think the portable espresso machine would have been a great accessory for high truck, mostly for the camping aspect of it. But for like a normal daily driver commuter vehicle, nah.
James: "The feeling of going as fast as you can with out worrying about getting in trouble" Me a german 18y old guy: meh we have the "Autobahn" love your content
A friend of mine once owned a RHD (in Britain) White De Tomaso Pantera with gold split rim Revolution 5 spoke wheels. I bought a standard model kit of a Tomaso, converted it to RHD made the correct style rear wing and body kit to his old car and machined from brass and aluminium scale correct rims. I am a pretty accomplished model builder and I won't deny I was MEGA proud of my efforts. It looked awesome. He stuffed it on the back of a shelf and within a year the trash. I haven't seen him for over 10 years now.
The portable Jump starter would be up in the Dece section if it was a high quality one for someone who works on cars professionally, or even does multiple side jobs. Working at the dealer or even mom and pop shops over the years finding one was in pain at times, especially one that was kept charged!
I don't remember where, when, or why we got them, but whenever I've needed to grab them out of the trunk, I've really appreciated our extra-long jumper cables.
