You are correct, the older generation is built different and the world will not be the same when they're gone. The world is getting progressively dumber. It's just like the movie idiocracy 😔
It's what I would call 'set to fail'. We are being set for failure, in many ways. It's a crazy old world which doesn't seem to be looking to clever at the moment...
You are the future older generation. Over a lifetime of accumulated experience and distilled wisdom, you too will develop many of these abilities. As will your contemporaries. We develop them over our lifetimes to make our lives more efficient. We collect tools and skills. We learn from our mistakes. We gradually, through the years, master the art of living. The next younger generation will venerate you just the same as you now venerate your elders. It's all part of the cycle of life.
Yes I agree with you, but (and there's always abut) I believe the level of knowledge and skill will be less due to things such as technology and 'robotic' machines doing lots of our tasks for us. Making us more dumb so to speak. And for some reason everything is becoming reliant on electricity. But that's another subject... 😐
@@welshgingerhobo Since people began, old skills have always been lost. New ways of doing will always be created. Not all for the good, not all for the bad.
I really enjoyed listening to you, thank you. Im 60 next month myself and when you were talking about 'clip its' to seal bags I was thinking 'how else would you do it?'. Lovely that you are helping these guys - I do admire you. Experience helps people to learn these 'skills' - but like you I think this way of thinking and living is diminishing. Its telling that in many cultures they revere their old - believing there is no substitution for experience. In the west we belittle them and only listen to the young, who are doomed to make the same mistakes as the previous generation, as they will not pay any attention to those who have gone through this and learnt from that experience in the past.
Thank you for your input. I couldn't agree more. The good old ways of doing certain things are dying slowly. Let's hope there's many wise people to replenish the planet in the future 🙂
This is the way I feel about my grandparent's generation (the WWII Generation). They are gone now, and their frugal and practical ways are fondly remembered. They bought homes on mill worker's pay, one income, but scrimping and saving. When I hear the younger generation saying older generations had it "easier" I don't agree.
Indeed indeed. I worry about other aspects when they pass also. I feel like smartphones and internet(yes, not only social media) has completely destroyed the younger generation, and to a large degree even the not so young. I'm 51 and I'm struggling with internet/distraction addiciton. When the last people who aren't glued to their phones pass we are deeply alone in this world. There won't be any people left who even remembers previous times, cause people won't know and won't even care, won't know what they have lost. Even going back to the 80s, society was completely different, and for the most part in a positive way. SOME young people are aware of this and curious about it. Most, I think, don't know. We're truly moving into a world lacking authenticity and "aliveness". It will also be very sad to see all the old artists and actors pass cause I don't like any of the younger ones
It sounds like you're describing my parents, but I am (only in a few ways!) turning into my Mum lol. I use wooden clothes pegs to keep packets shut, and I've got the little jug to fill my iron 😂 Best thing was from my Nan though, 4 metal spikes joined into a cross to pierce through potatoes to help them cook quicker in the oven! Rubbish description but it's brilliant! 😂 My Dad has old jam jars full of screws and nails etc in his shed. So handy! Lovely park there too, enjoy it! 😊
