@@lucyjrobyn let me just warn you for later levels, they nerfed the shotgun a lot. It does a lot less damage and it holds less ammunition. It is best used just like its Halo 1 version against the flood, not against the Covenant. You can do whatever you want but I just want to warn you.
@@lucyjrobyn okay, another is that you can board enemy vehicles which is way easier in on lower difficulties. In fact, Halo 3 makes it easier because one of the weapons has an EMP effect on the vehicle making it stop for a few seconds.
Fun fact: Covenant Scarabs were not built for military combat but for Excavation. The Prophet of Regret brought the Scarab to Earth because they were planning to dig for something.
Well you're correct that they were built for excavation initially, but they turned out to also be incredibly useful for military operations so they were dual purposed. Something's initial purpose doesn't dictate its permanent use.
Woo! Can I just say how nice it is to watch someone play one of my favourite series and actually take in the story, the cutscenes and set pieces in the world around them instead of using all that staging time to talk to their chat, completely ignore the subtleties and then complain that the game is bad because they don't know what's going on or where to go after ignoring the setup to the gameplay! Everyone is free to do as they wish of course but it really gets me as these experiences (which were very formative and are nostalgic for me) were crafted specifically for the player to immerse themselves and they won't always 'hold your hand' as you said during your playthrough of the first game. That said, some things are very easy to miss and that's not something which should ever reflect badly on a person playing if they are enjoying it. That's the joy of replaying these games, back when games were made to be enjoyed over and over.❤ Very much enjoying your journey and hope you continue and play them all!!❤🌈🔥
“When I joined the corps, we didn’t have any fancy-schmancy tanks. We had sticks, two sticks and a rock for a whole platoon, and we had to share the rock. Buck up boy you’re one very luckyMarine.”
Halo was such a huge hit, that when Halo 2 was coming out, celebrities everywhere wanted to be a part of it. Steve Vai does the guitar Halo riff when you’re jumping on the Scarab. John Mayer did some guitar work in the game as well. You’ll also hear famous voices such a Ron Perlman voicing Lord Hood, Kieth David playing the Arbitor. David Cross (Arrested Development), Brian Posen, John Higgins, Laura Prepon (Donna That 70s Show), Michelle Rodriguez (Fast and the Furious franchise), Rami Malek… the list goes on and on.
Lucy.... there is an additonal Cutscene to the Outskrits Mission. You can find it under Extras and Halo 2 Anniversary Cutscenes.... it's called "Day at the Beach" it shows what happens excatly with the second Pelican that got shot down. The Cutscene was originally released some month after Halo 2 was released. It came with the Multiplayer Map Pack. a lot of RU-vidr who stream and let's play Halo react to every Halo Trailer and what so ever but when it comes to this cutscene.... they are all missing and forgetting about that.
I'm so glad you're playing this series it just brings me joy every time when I see someone pick up the series from the beginning. I played this game series when it first started with Halo combat evolved when I was 11 years old. Bring me joy Experiencing Halo games Bungie for the first time Miranda keys is definitely a hell of a female character I love every minute when they first introduced her like she just was an instant fall in love character for me. She is so badass like seriously she is so badass
Pro tip - as you saw you can swap weapons with allied NPCs now. Marines will never run out of ammo for these weapons, meaning that if you give a marine a rocket launcher they'll be able to use it until they die. It's often far easier to give them the powerful weapons with limited ammunition while the player supports them. Extremely useful if they're riding as passengers in vehicles, and headshot capable weapons like the battle rifle and Covenant carbine are remarkably lethal in their hands - both get a lot of mileage since they're decently accurate. And yeah, common question is what the hell Blur Studios were smoking when they redid the cutscenes for the Halo 2 remaster. In a very positive way, mind. Shot for shot and scene for scene it's identical to the original - all of the cinematography was unchanged - but the upgrade in textures, lighting and general graphical fidelity were top notch even by today's standards. Assuming you continue playing through the entire franchise you'll see their very early work - I think - in the first Halo Wars, and they were brought back for Halo Wars 2 and Halo 5. And yeah, Halo's music was always top notch. Back when these games came out no one ever held them to the standard they do now and Marty's work is responsible for a lot of that shift - Halo as a franchise revolutionized the videogame industry, at least where shooters were concerned. They went from a super niche hobby to events on par with mainstream movie releases.
One thing that's good to remember in this and future Halo games is that marines don't use ammo. If you have a sniper/beam rifle, or a rocket launcher or some other powerful weapon, when it's down to the last shot or last few shots, you should give it to one of them as they'll be able to keep firing it. If you have a squad of marines all with sniper and explosive weapons, they can do a lot of damage and need way less babysitting to keep alive. It'll make your job easier as well.
Oh my!! 21:04 Where did you learn to drive?? In Tijuana??" 😂😂😂 I thought that was only a latin Spanish dub phrase considering how spicy Halo 2 marines are in this, but to hearing it in the og language made me laugh harder.
The one marine that said “it’s tight quarters sir, use this” had a shotgun for you to swap for but she was behind you, not the one with the rockets. Halo 2 shotgun has much less range than the one from Combat Evolved but it still packs the same punch (at very close ranges) Edit: NVM you found the jilted, would-be shotgun sharer.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but ima give you some halo bread and butter, there's something we halo fans refer to as *The Noob Combo* basically what you do is you keep a battle rifle as your primary weapon but as your second you *always* make sure you have a grunt pistol (the little green gun the small aliens use) you charge up the grunt pistol and fire it at an elite, one charged shot will always deplete an elites shields (the tall red and blue aliens) then you very quickly swap to the battle rife and shoot them once in the head. With that technique any elite no matter the color blue, red, silver, gold will go down in two shots. So to summaries one charge shot from a grunt pistol and then a quick round to the head from the battle rifle. The grunt pistol charged shot actually homes in on whoever you aim it at. Works well on jackals too (the smaller aliens carrying the shields.) As for any other enemies keep freestyling. I'd advise checking out some legendary difficulty playthrough's to see how people use it. Not trying to backseat by the way it's just fun finding hidden strats. :)
Wow!This level was absolutely amazing and you did so very well! The building graphics were so good.I loved how you took that soldiers gun and how you can switch places on the Warthog now! Those little flying ones look like gargoyles. The bridge part was so great! This is so good and I want to know where we are headed."Its just a fleshwound..Im not dead yet...beware the rabbit!"Amazing job!
Dude I love Johnson every time he gives a great line the people that were riding his lines for this character and the voice actor they nailed it delivery 10 out of 10
Only recently found your channel from the Black Ops playthrough but I have to say this channel honestly has been helping me get through some tough times. The humor and playing the games I've loved brings some light to my day. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Sorry to hear you are going through hard times. Glad to hear the videos bring some levity to that. Stay strong, thanks for watching and for the lovely comment!❤️
I am always blown away by the graphics in the cutscenes but the in game footage is crazy good in these more tropical areas. The way the sun cuts through the trees and buildings is breathtaking
I love when you come across an enemy XD "Hello li'tl one" , "Oh arent you strong" Like a mother on the battlefield "You'll catch a cold in that outfit you will" My favorite playthrough video i seen in a while lolll
The thing about the prophets is that the UNSC has had plans to go after them. Before reach, they were planning on capturing a prophet to force negotiations. Since Regret headed to Earth and was unprepared to meet so much resistance, he’s now in a situation where the UNSC can go after him.
(Grunt winds up a grenade, sticks Marine) (Violent explosion) "There is nothing left of that soldier. I need to tell their family." God, I love this game.
4:23 I just love the combat dialogue in Halo 1-3. It is so good. I think most games nowadays don't even come close to having the same level of combat dialogue. It feels like every marine is unique. They have so many lines. Many other FPS's don't have that much soul and attention to detail.
Excited for your reaction to the next couple levels. Lots of people hated them but i think its where the better storytelling starts, and the levels are really good.
@@lucyjrobyn at 4:48 you say it looks like a Collector (which I'm assuming is from ME2) I'm just playing on the fact that H2 came out first so "you mean a Collector looks like a Drone" (the Halo enemy type's name) I know you played ME first haha I'm just highlighting the fun of the different POVs
"Make good choices" 😂😂😂 hey, I'm the one who told you about the rough translation for muchacho being my dude. I guess "bruh" may be more 2024. Often, it's all context. Makes me think of when my daughter will call from work asking me what's this word in English and I have to scratch my head because context and regionalisms affect the translation. Spanish has more words than English. Add to that that I am from Puerto Rico. Caribbean Spanish is different from South American spanish, also different from Mexican spanish, and way different from Spanish from Spain. If you get a group of these different nationalities, someone will always say something that the rest of us go "what the hell is that word?" 😂
Blur studios completely redid all the cinematics for Halo 2 anniversary, and they knocked it out of the park. Each one manages to capture the feel of the original but elevate it in some way. The only downside is the difference between cutscene and gameplay is a little bit bigger than it was in the original, so it can be a bit jarring going from the absolutely gorgeous cut scenes to the only slightly less gorgeous gameplay
Highly recommend checking out the "Day at the Beach" cinematic that was cut from the original campaign. It follows on from the pelicans that crash at the beginning. Also recommend checking out the map from the rooftops, there's a fair bit you otherwise don't get to see, I believe even a few easter eggs
I'm so happy to see someone playing my favorite game of all time!! ❤ I had an idea when you finish halo games or were looking for a new fps story, BIOSHOCK! the story is the main focus, but the combat and atmosphere are beautiful in all games!
fun fact not sure if it's been mentioned or anyone else noticed that the female marine talking with Sgt Johnson when he's dropping off the tank is voiced by Michelle Rodriguez, who played Letty in fast & furious.
I think you missed it, but that white elite at the end dropped his plasma sword. You can use them in this game. They're quite fun. They come with a lunge attack that closes distance fast so you can just dart around stabbing people.
Loving the Halo series. Always great to see the game through the fresh eyes of a first time player. One humble tip if I may, always be the driver! (Except for one level at the end of Halo 3, but we’ll get there when we get there)
Those purple things you call pods would appear to be somewhat of covenant's weapon crates, they sometimes have weapons in them. Sometimes they're just closed. You can not open them.
When I Joined the Corp, we didn’t have any fancy shamancy Tanks! We had Sticks! TWO sticks and a rock for a whole platoon… AND WE HAD TO SHARE THE ROCK!!!
Idk if anyone has told you yet but the Grunts are actually 5 feet tall, they just look tiny because Chief is 8 feet tall. They aren’t so cute when you really think about it 😂
Yes, the vehicles were improved in Halo 2. After the popularity of both the Warthog Run and the second level of CE, they seem to have decided to add smaller vehicle sections that are based on traversal, not combat
You probably figured it out by now but just in case, click “read more” for a hint about swapping weapons with your bros If you’re out of ammo fir a really good gun, like the sniper rifle or rocket launcher then give it to them and they have unlimited ammo. Just don’t get in front of whoever you gave the rockets to…
A special mention about the marine and ODST AI. Halo 2 and Halo 3 have perhaps got the best ally AI and it makes the campaign so enjoyable. Especially in Heroic and Legendary difficulty. I try to keep them alive as much as I can
Just to give you a bit more joy, you can drive the Wraiths on later levels. Also, the rocket launchers can now auto-target if you hold the trigger for a few seconds.
Don't forget your motion tracker ;) Allies will only get onto a vehicle if it's at a complete stop; it's good to try and pick up as many as possible to compliment yor vehicle's weapons :)
03:54 Clearly you've never seen a Grunt Ultra in action. Tbh though, never have I in my playthroughs but they exist somewhere in every game, and they are absolute menaces. My God... The covenant sniper DOES look like a mass relay 👀 Your little jiggly worm dancing to the soundtrack is adorable btw 😬🥹
Game mechanic tip: vehicles in Halo 2/3 will not be destroyed until all occupants die. So you can safely drive a burning warthog indefinitely. It stays that way until Halo: Reach.
@@Bolsh_ No cap fr fr. If you weren´t being ironic with your language, I have been playing Halo since before you were born. But if you don´t want to take my word for it, just go into a custom game and try it yourself.
Hey just caught up from ce to here really enjoyed watching you play glad you are enjoying the game and can't wait to watch your journey through all the games!
Here’s a tip with vehicles in Halo 2 that they changed from Halo CE. In Halo CE there was a health bar at the top of the screen when you got in a vehicle and when it ran out, it exploded. In Halo 2 they changed that completely. Vehicle health is dependent on the operator’s shields meaning that as long as your shields are up the vehicle you’re piloting will never explode. You can take a Warthog or any other vehicle that’s on fire and still cause havoc with it. The only outliers that cancel this new vehicle system are insta-kill weapons like the Rocket Launcher, well placed Plasma Grenade, or another heavy vehicle weapon like a Scorpion Tank.
You're right, the cutscenes in this game are incredible, but make the most of them because for the next two Halos in the series it's back to the more ordinary graphics! They still have their own charm though, so not to worry...
Girl remember that you should always look around for new weapons and ammunition. Before driving warthog and if possible give rocket launchers to passenger for infinite ammo ❤😊
29:50 "It's tight quarters on the other side Sir. Use this" Lucy: "Use what?" 😂 lol Lucy, you crack me up! She meant use the Warthog since the tank can't fit in the tight quarters 🤣🤣🤣
you could take guns off allies in halo 1 too, in both games if you swap them a weapon with 1 bullet they will have infinite ammo so you can use all but 1 sniper or rocket shot and hand the power weapon over to the marines to play with until they get got
the unggoi(grunts) not meant for war is such a funny comment to hear when you know Halo lore🤣. 1 thing i advice you to do especially in this game is go look for the terminals. They explain lore about things in this game. In halo 1 its like random stuff, but in halo 2 its really intresting to look for
4:43 “You can hear them giving each other $&@t! Did you guys hear that?!” They’re giving YOU $&@t! Just wait till you hear what your allies will tell you in Halo 3, especially when you swap guns with them. ;)
2:35 I dont know why I went full Back to the Future there, but I did.... 5:56 Obi-Wan would be proud :D also, Blur Studios redid those cutscenes in 2014, they are amazing at their work
30:00 as you were running up the ramp you ran past a lady marine who had a shotgun, when she was behind you still back at the ramp she goes "its tight quarters on the otherside use this" and holds out her shotgun to you but you ran past so she assumed you didn't want it and followed the marines in XD
I love how you missed the prompt to yoink the ghosts several times at the 36 mark. Tbf, you were nearly dying and thats probably why you missed it. But yeah, you can yoink vehicles now, if you haven't already found out by now.
The Halo 2 Anniversary cutscenes are very well done, but it does help that unlike the original cutscenes, they are pre-rendered, and not in the game engine either.
it always surprises me that so few people catch that michelle Rodriquez is playing the female marine at the start of the tank level. you'd think her voice would be immediately recognizable. also in halo2 .. if a enemy vehicle is not moving ... you have an oportunity to jump on and knock the driver off and take the vehicle from them.
@@Black0raz0r well most i've seen recognize him unless they are a genZ then they don't recognize him , but that's not surprising since he is a much older actor than what GenZ grew up with. where as michelle rodriguez is a little more current.
31:20 Figured I'd also mention in case nobody else has, for the majority of vehicle segments in Halo 2 and Halo 3, you can pick the gunner seat. You just tell the Marine to get off the turret and then they'll run to the driver seat instead. If you're in a vehicle, the friendly AI will usually pile in with you regardless of what seat you're in. Fair warning though: they're shit drivers. I've had Marines just drive off cliffs before, the pathing for vehicles can be kind of dumb sometimes. So let them drive at your own risk.
Taking our boy Johnson's Sniper without even realizing who it was. For shame 😛. Covenant weapons that overheat *can't* be restocked, just replaced. Also SMGs, Pistols, Plasma Pistol and Rifle can all be dual wielded... and mix and matched. Shouldn't matter much on Normal but a Plasma weapon with a bullet weapon is always a good combo. Energy burns through shields bullets shred health bars. That poor gunner, put in soo much work and you just let him die! Ma'am, if you don't stop people won't get on/in your car. Especially when the car is a multi-ton tank.
