Even though nothing crazy happened, I always cherish the parts where we have great crew moments hope Elbaf has more of these moments

I think they definitely could be hallucinating/dreaming/being played with like dolls. that would explain the 0 fall damage, inconsistencies and lack of straw hat. If they’re being treated as dolls, I could imagine that person switching out their clothes, moving them from area to area, attempting to replicate their attacks, swapping the animals etc

Adored this chapter. My favorite part was the giants wondering why all their animals were dying and finding out it was the Straw hats. Feels like it's been a while since we've had some goofy, fun chaos in OP.

Fun note about Usopps outfit, it appears to be a direct reference to Asterix and Obelix, a french comic about Gauls (I thought they were vikings based on the aesthetic of the comic but they are actually Gauls, which makes more sense for a french/belgium comic)

I think we are thinking about the wrong kind of hallucination. There is a very cool story in Norse mythology about Thor, Loki and two other guys arriving to a mysterious castle where they must complete a number of challenges (eating meat, drinking alcohol and speed running, which sounds VERY appropirate for Luffy, Zoro and Sanji). There is even a huge cat involved in the shenanigans, which is obviously referenced in the new chapter! The twist in the story is that none of them are able to complete their individual challenges because the owner of the castle tricks them so see their competitors are something different that what they really are (for example, in the meat eating challenge, they think they are competing against a regular dude, but they are competing against FIRE ITSELF which obviously consumes things faster and without limit so they can never win). Long story short, I think all of this could be happening, but someone is messing with their perception so they keep tripping balls, hence the cat turning into a lion, etc.

I think the gear 4 thing might not be an error but Luffy doing some looney stuff and doing a partial gear 4 just on his leg. His fruit does grant freedom to do what ever he wants to do

Also, in 1126, some one says « wake up nami » this is similar to the fairy in The legend of Zelda when you start a Zelda game… The weapons can change like in video games ?? And when usopp and nami fall of the lego castle we can see a black case / screen ( = black sceen when u change the lvl??) (Sry for my English)

There are so many continuity errors this chapter, they are tripping balls. none of this is real.

Ok so my theory is that there is a part of Elbaf that is literally a dream world, like there is a physical realm attached to it but Yggdrassil has some connection to dreams that make dreamers meet in these unreal worlds, and I think this is because as Devil Fruits are connected to dreams Yggdrassil has a similar connection. I also believe that Giants are big so they have Big dreams and this is why this phenomena happens specifically in this part of the world, which may also clue us into why Bucaneers are exceptional: they are partly giants and thus are capable of massive dreams. I think this could fit into the nine realms mythos quite nicely too

At first I thought the whole issue with the continuity errors was just an issue on Oda's end to be fixed in the volume releases. Now that the community keeps noticing more and more, I'm pretty sure there's some trickery afoot.

I agree the inconsistency may be intentional to reveal Luffy has been kidnapped and what we are seeing is possibly a fake Luffy and the the biggest clue would be his straw hat is replaced which isn't the first time Oda dropped a clue involving the straw hat. (Remember when Robin first appeared and put on Luffy's hat as a form of foreshadowing her joining the crew later down the line?)...I think Oda is going to reveal that Luffy is in trouble and the crew will have to save Luffy

I'm curious who the villain in this arc is because it feels like we're past the point where a local figure like Loki can be a viable threat. I really thought every arc after Zou would feature some major series-wide antagonist, but Shanks isn't here anymore and I can't think of anyone else who would make sense here

We need to get type-moon on her radar it’s the strongest franchise in anime with their base abilities giving them immeasurable speed. & my power scaling playlist has all the proof we need, my essay playlist also proves it has the best written characters in anime especially in the girl aspect.(which some shonen struggle cough* Naruto) Like generic anime channel’s shirou vid, it’s billion$ budget & ufotable come together to give us peak animation of any year they drop or period. It’s also the lotr of anime with lore on lore & galore.

People complaining about how slow the pacing are, i mean it's just the start of the arc I think we can all agree that Oda always starts off an arc with a slow pacing, a little bit of adventure. Oda is not gonna start an arc with a bang, he always build it up until we get some insane reveals, some actions later on Look at the other arcs we have been through, going into Fish man island was a slow start, going into Punk Hazard was the same, then going into Dressrosa and then into Zou, Whole Cake and so on. Oda always have that build up but although, we are in the final saga now

One thing that the fanbase is finding weird is how... Certain things stand out. There are multiple small errors all over the place. Nami has a blinking sword, Luffy gains a sword that becomes an axe on his back. Sanji changes the leg hes attacking with, Luffy uses "Gear 4" even though its clearly Gear 3. Nami and Usopp fall from a *very* high place, quoted from Nami herself, and are completely fine. There are human sized skulls at the site of the fall. Luffy's Straw Hat is completely hidden, if even in there. Usopp's bag disappears for a second. The LEGOs broke like regular stone, and the castle, Bigstein Castle, is named for being a Big *Stone* Castle. Needless to say, this number of discrepancies is way higher than Oda has ever casually had in a manga release. To the point that it feels s bit purposeful. Could it be that we are still in a hallucination? Maybe under the grasp of a Devil Fruit User like that one baby stand user in JoJo? In addition, where is Chopper? Why is the only Straw Hat that doesn't drink not with the rest of the group? Is he in the Giant's ship? Is he in the Sunny? Is he not stuck in this possible dream with the others?

I don't think Nami has made me cackle in laughter in years, but that panel where Usopp gets absolutely violated and Nami's hysterical face just got me. I think maybe some of her funny moments in Whole Cake got me to laugh last time?

im no stranger to One Piece shenanigans at this point but holy hell reading this chapter felt like a fever dream. Luffy denying food, the crew's weapons and gear changing slightly throughout the chapter, the strange lego buildings everywhere, THE FUCKING WORLD TREE YGGDRASIL BEING REVEALED so much is happening and it's quite literally the first chapter on Elbaf and i have absolutely zero clue what the hell is going on and where we're headed from here

Just wanted to let you know that the alcohol they drank “absinthe” is also called the green fairy and is a thing in real life. It was a minor plot point in the movie eurotrip

This chapter grew on me just because it is such a special thing. There have been a good amount of people that just read this like another quick chapter without looking deeper into it and they miss out on information. But for those who pay close attention to the artwork and dissect the dialogue, there is clearly something going on here. And it’s not so bad to miss out on this information because when whatever is happening is revealed, it’ll be cool to look back on and see all these things. I’ve even heard there are nuances in Japanese that indicates something odd is happening. Whatever comes of this, I can’t imagine it isn’t cool and interesting. We’ve had weird stuff happening at the start of arcs that gets explained later, like Thriller Bark and Punk Hazard, but this seems like it’s in a league of its own. Honestly can’t wait for the next chapter.

Lego is Danish, and it also looks like there could be some minecraft in there to which is Swedish. i think its a fun play on past and modern scandinavia.

A possible inspiration for the cat-lion could be the Swedish coat of arms. A more obscure inspiration could be the Gripsholm lion, a horrible taxidermy of a lion that, due to being so bad, became a tourist attraction.

30 seconds on the island and they’re already menaces! I love that Oda slipped in a “stepping on Legos” joke. And where’s Chopper‽ There are so many inconsistencies with this chapter that I would chalk this up to being amateurish if it was any other mangaka. I would think it was a mistake if it was one or two mistakes. But this is consistently every main character, over the whole chapter. This is Oda. 95% of what he does is on purpose.

Nami using Usopp as a human shield is legitimately one of the greatest things I've ever read, I love Nami 🤣

What's happening to the Straw Hats reminds me of what's currently happening in another manga called "DandaDan" (highly recommend, but the first chapter is hard to read). I'm not gonna go into too much details, but basically in the most recent arc, some of the characters were shrunk and teleport into a DnD tabletop type of game. The game is like another dimension full of crazy environments and our heroes have to confront different level and boss-monsters to, hopefully, get out.

I loved Nami's expressions in this chapter. So funny

IF these are hallucinations, I find it interesting that Nami views Sanji as a prince-like knight.

Honestly, I'm on board with them still tripping balls from the absinthe. I just need to know what the hell happened to my boy Chopper. Oda's too cruel to leave my boy still unaccounted for right before his break. But I can't deny I still do love the feeling of starting a new arc. Hope this arc is as chaotic as Egghead.

Another potential inconsistency is that the attack names kinda don't line up. This happens sometimes, but it really seems like Zoro and Sanji are using different parts of each others' moves

The lego area reminds me of Dressrosa, not in style or architecture obviously, but it reminds me of Sugar's ability to turn people into toys and how that was the goon Usopp took care of. Maybe a stretch?

Some people on Mangahelpers have theorised that the “Giants” we first see are actually normal people dressed up in Elbaf attire The reasoning being that the so called “Giants” we first see called the Ear God/rabbit gigantic

After Wano, I never expected Nami's skirts to get any smaller, but Oda always has ways to surprise me.

Honestly, I don't think the crew being taken away is a hallucinations because then it wouldn't make sense for Oda to write the outsiders' point of view and show the crew's actions affect reality and people they don't know. The giants on the ship still found them gone and the residents of the village are shown to feel the ground shake and worry, so it can't be something Nami dreamt up when she has no awareness of them. I have no idea what actually happened but someone must have intervened since the Sunny is nowhere to be found and maybe they can create illusions or manipulate reality in a specific space each time. But the animals getting beaten has to be true...idk idk

I dont think it's a hallucination, since the town's people / giants were scared about the giant rabbit disappearing, and sanji said they killed a rabbit.

The one most people know, who is a shapeshifter and mischief maker and sworn brother of Odin, and Utgard Loki, aka "Loki of the Outlands," who was an illusionist giant who, as someone else mentioned, messed with Thor and Loki.

I hope that this arc can be the last proper adventure for the strawhats before everything culminates in the final war. The original crew (besides Chopper, hopefully he's just somewhere lost 😭) being the only ones here... and the alabasta panel call-back makes me believe Vivi reunion will finally happen! Shanks and Saul reunions will be amazing as well. Egghead has been fantastic, but we have to say goodbye-- so excited for Elbaf!!

Well, I can’t predict anything for the story but I do predict this (my prediction is based on absolutely nothing so please don’t take this to seriously! 😁): we WILL be getting official One Piece Lego sets somewhere within the next 2 years. I can’t imagine Lego ignoring the huge success of One Piece and now that legos are introduced in the OP universe it could be a perfect time for a collaboration. Hell, maybe these chapters are the first clue there might already by talks about it. Again, not a serious prediction, but the thought a Lego Going Merry or Lego Arlong Park… can you imagine the awesomeness?!
