'We're Just Trying To Survive.' City Continues To Tag Vehicles Owned By Homeless 

You are not 'trying to survive'. You are making a total mess wherever you are. Poverty is one thing. Slobbery is another. No sympathy. Clean yourself and your surroundings and humans will treat you differently. I grew up in a home with violent abuse and my mom supported 5 children as a waitress. She always told me ' no matter how poor you are , you can always afford a bar of soap'.

I was homeless for 2 years. I just had my car and my dogs. First tip: get out of California! The price of everything is outrageous and most cities have gotten a real hard-on about the homeless. I spent my homeless period camping on Federal Land in the desert of Arizona (during the winter) and New Mexico (during the summer). You have to move every 2-4 weeks and you have to clean up your trash, but it's doable and hassle free. Not the answer for everyone, but for god's sake, get out of California if you can!

If you're going to be living on the streets you need to be as minimal as possible. Don't have a bunch of stuff accumulated outside, don't stay in the same spot forever, try to stay as invisible as possible, don't be noticably on drugs, don't act like you own whatever spot you pull up on. Keep it clean, uncluttered, away from residential and business areas and move around from time to time and you'll get by without being constantly hassled.

Why are governments so cruel against their destitute citizens? These people have served their countries and paid their dues all their lives. When they need a helping hand, they are treated like outcasts and hounded like pests. Local governments have so much open land where the poor and destitute can bring their tents and motorhomes and live with some decency. The local government can then provide basic services. It is a shame and a disgrace to treat your citizens like that! And please don't tell me about the law, change your unjust laws and make them pro-poor! You judge a nation by the manner it treats its women, children, elderly, animals, sick, prisoners, and the needy!!!

I feel bad for them. I'm 65 and on social security too. If I didn't still work I would never make it. I'm blessed though. Everything I have is paid for and I have a savings but I could NEVER live just on my SSA.

I'm homeless and live in a small RV. I'm about the only homeless person living in my vehicle in the area who has current license tabs and dosen't have garbage and junk stacked up around my vehicle. For the most part the police leave me alone. This is in tacoma Washington.

With the extreme lack of affordable housing this problem is never going to go away.

I've worked in that business park. And let me tell you it was so clean before they got there. They throw garbage on the street, double park they vehicles so the drive path gets so narrow, kids running around across the road and dogs with no leashes, one person got beaten to death there so police had the area blocked so people couldn't even get to work, those homeless women wave men by cause they prostitute, there's drugs being sold, you can smell Marijuana all the time, they are loud all the time which causes problems for businesses, they fight among each other, we had multiple cars broken into, they unscrewed the tires which could've caused an accident and killed/harmed the driver, block the road by literally parking in the middle of the street just to talk lol, the business park became dirty and depressing. They caused so much inconvenience to all the working people in this business park.

I wish I owned a business or had some land that I could let these people park their cars or live on. I just feel for the homeless so much!!! May God protect and bless these sweet vulnerable people!

I would have a lot more sympathy for these people if they didn’t litter and make their (and our) environments such cesspools.

It would have been a great deal easier to feel bad for this man if his girlfriend wasn't doing the fentanyl stoop in the background. He'd been there for 2 years, on SSDI and received a couple of stimulus checks, yet the idea of moving to a less expensive city never occurred to him? No one wants to look out their window to see a hoarders junk yard. The woman featured was on here before. She had an RV, a motorhome and another car that she mentions here was towed. Here she is again with another car, still living in the same spot with her kids. She mentioned that the area was rat infested previously. Same deal, two kids, how many stimulus checks and child credit payments later? Pack up clothing, get in your car and move somewhere that is safer, less expensive and not filled with drug addicts.

They just want you to move your car, public parking lot, private property, the county whatever, they don’t want to tow it. Stupid emotional piece, these are simple city ordinances everyone has to follow.

If they are receiving disability or SSI they need to move out of California, when they choose to live like nomads living in their vehicle or out of their vehicle they need to move around. They cannot post up anywhere and expect the police to not tag their vehicle with a parking violation. Why not leave Sacramento and move to a different state especially somewhere where they can afford rent or buy a RV that they can keep running and move out of the state or move around in the state? I know what it’s like to be homeless but I would never think I own the block and can post up for expended period of days, weeks or months. They want others to fund their housing instead of taking control and creating their own housing by living in RV or building a tiny house that they can tow.

So... they've been there for years and haven't cleaned up after themselves. I wonder why they're getting moved. Not once did they mention anything about a JOB. The city can't save/help you, if can't even save/help yourself.

I feel they should be able to get help. But I also feel they should help themselves also. Are they so helpless that they can't clean up the area or are they expecting that to be done for them also. Sorry I look at how you treat area you have been staying on and say get a bulldozer and trash it all. You could have been keeping area clean but you didn't.

I understand the conditions are poor, but I can’t help but feel for these people. They look worn out and beaten down. I’m sure they made their own little community. They have so little it must be heartbreaking that they’re forced to give up what little they have. I hope they’re getting support with health issues and housing.

Everywhere is hiring. And why are they homeless? Poor choices?

People from the city drive out to the homeless-communities to pick up food bank food; because that is where the food banks and free-ice machines are located.

Such as _Pallet Shelter's_ *Shelter 64* which sleeps two in a private cabin. Placed in combination with _Pallet Shelter's_ other components: *Community Room,* Bathroom, and Services Office; to form an entire *Homeless Shelter Village.* Where rent is 10% of net income for the 2 person shelter and 20% for the four person shelter. Which goes to providing _one free meal a day_ and *childcare* so that the working poor can go to work: in the Community Room.

Its not sympathy they want its just know someone cares .....i was homeless worked 2 jobes i didn't want sympathy just a chance to rent a place but because i spent so much time in and out of prison had no back ground and no bank acount could not open one after 911 and so i did all i could but still held 2 jobs homless just some of the peoples i met didnt wake up and say i want to be a drug addict i want to be homeless they lost family are were abused locked up and for gotten prison and doing time dont help you with job traing schooling and as i said who you run with some dont care if you get high are about each other ...so you see how do you better your self knowing once your done doing time your right back were you started smack in the middle of were you left off....the same for rehabilitation program you do all the work but do the try to get you a job having so maney resources they claim to have using gods name but once your done right back to perole and back to the streets ....the proud (AMERICAN MEXICAN)

The problem is not the homeless it's their stuff. When you have nothing everything you find seems like treasure. There bags and a portable chair. Possession limitations with in city limits. If you don't have a vehicle or storage. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
