As an old farm boy, I love to see land reclaimed. When you finally get it cleared and figure out where the perimeters are going to be, take your tile plow and go around the perimeter and cut all the tree roots that are running out into the field. Farmer Chris’s corn will do a lot better around the fences.

better use would be a subsoiler ripper on the whole field to get the ground lose again. We do that up in northern Indiana. If there see a hard spot in there field when they plant corn after harvest they will sub soil rip there the spots and where the truck drove for harvest to loosen it up.

This one really makes me jealous. It reminds me of what myself and my wife grew up around. We each grew up in very small communities of less than 400 people. We now live with our teenage sons in a small city of 20,000. When we looked for what is now our home, we both thought the convenience of town would be good. 13yrs later we ALL agree that acres in the country would have been FAR better.

Farmer Chris can come in with a heavy duty land clearing disc after you’re done clearing all the big trees. He can work the field in two directions and chop up all the sticks and roots and have it ready to plant in corn come spring. Before you cleared that field deer could hide in that brush and never be seen. You’ve made a massive improvement to your new farm in a short time.

Livestock, grazing cattle will eat the grass and some leaves. Hogs will root up all the brush and help kill all the trees, goats will eat pretty well any thing. Much of the work was done by the animals. I have read they in some cases fenced in small areas at a time to speed up the process. It did not happen in a day or a week, it was busey work in the off season if there was such a thing.
@zifnab6824
@zifnab6824 6 месяцев назад
this field was brush. settlers mostly dealt with mature trees. easier in a number of respects (less plants to remove overall) and you can get a number of seasons of the hogs eating the acorns. harder in that now you have big stumps to get out.

Snicker, you could always hire a herd of goats and their herder to take care of the brush the machines don’t deal with. A lot of the brush you mowed down is stuff that they love… You will want to leave some of the more mature trees alone the road as a wind break or something like that Better check and see if there is no wildlife around the pond before you remove it, if it has fish and other critters then might be best to leave it be

Amazing work! The difference in clearing with the excavator vs bulldozer with blade or root rake is no comparison. When 90-95% of everything burns with no large chunks of wood buried in the dirt makes the end results so much better. Plus you don’t have near as big of a stump hole to deal with. You 2 are the best team to watch on RU-vid. Clint and Kevin are in a close 2nd place.

I feel like this would be a great place to build a shop and storage area. Can't forget Aarons pond feature. Put a fountain in the middle of it. Lol curb appeal. In reality, yes it costs money. But you could get the shop out of the house and store all your equipment and materials and accessories in one place just right down the road. Maybe you could sell or rent out the place in derby next to the convenience store to help fund the build. One last build with the whole crew! Featuring Dirt Perfect, Man behind the scenes, Nya Millennial, Jerry, and Captain kleeman. With a little farmer Chris supervising lol. It's perfect really, you have the barn already for materials like pipes, and the open face for the small tractor, skid steers and accessories. All it needs now is a pole barn or enclosed building for the large equipment which could double as a shop. If built close enough to the barns, could still be room for farmer Chris to do something there as well. I think it's time for Dirt Perfects dream shop! Love what you do. Can't wait to see this land develop.
