Loved seeing more of Alan, she's such a sweetie. Great content, editing, always enjoy seeing your trips into town as well as the cruising. Also we enjoy seeing what Ben is wearing, like his style. Emily's smile warms our hearts. Cheers to you both from Lancashire.

Heartwarming viog 😊 +8:40 Interesting house architecture - Regency / Dutch ? Oh noo - why does the coffee log smells of cow poo ?! That's such a disappointment 🤨😂 The salt extractors pumped water in to force the brine out, which also stopped the caverns collapsing, but nowadays, lots of the caverns are used for gas storage.
I tried to watch this yesterday when I was on a quick break at work, but alas it wasn't meant to be! I'm off today so I'm spoiling myself, climbed back into bed with a mug of tea and I'm catching up 😊x
I had nearly finished a 2000 piece jigsaw when my cat had its mad half hour, jumped on the table and slid off the end along with my puzzle, in my experience cats and puzzles don't mix! Just a fun fact most towns with the suffix 'wich' were salt producing.
Whenever you find a town with a name ending in 'wich' - such as the famous Cheshire trio of Nantwich, Northwich and Middlewich - you can assume a connection with salt. The 'wich' denotes a group of buildings used for salt making; boiling salty water and collecting the residue.
There was an industrial-scale coffee plant just down the road from where I worked for 30 years. Usually it smelled quite nice but when they burned a large badge of beans it was horrendous. Can't imagine what burning a coffee bean log would smell like.
Can I make a suggestion about the stove? We recently had a new one fitted and the guy said at the start, leave the door ajar (not wide open) and the air at the bottom (which you did on the video). When the wood catches well, then shut the door but leave the airflow open until cast iron is properly hot as, if it’s cold, the fire will go out😉 I must try that wire cage thing for smokeless fuel as I have some to use up before we turn over completely to kiln dried logs which seem to be SO much more efficient! Pretty nearly smoke free and not much ash😊
Bit late watching this episode, Venetian marina have a sister marina called Whilton marina on the grand union canal. It’s equally as nice and they own a lovely caravan park called Cosgrove Park also a stone throw from the grand union canal. We have a holiday home there :)
A cat always makes a jigsaw that little bit more difficult.... I love jigsaws, yours doesn't look too easy but they're so addictive. Alan will get the hang of it eventually. Thank you for the video, calm & informative as usual. 💐
How do I love you two? Let me count the ways . . . always good historical content even when an empty field, Frog spawn? See it here, Mr. and Mrs. Mallard always a guest appearance, Bennie's Mom the best gifter ever, and all in all you two make me feel included. Thank you and blessings galore
Always been curious about how you steer a narrowboat in order to avoid hitting the banks in the narrower stretches or when you go around corners. Also how about steering it into the very narrow lochs? Could you explain it please? Thanks.
I always look so forward to your newest videos. It's hard to wait, but I am always so glad when they appear.! I don't have satellite TV, or cable TV like I used to have, but I have been saying your videos are absolute fun to watch. They just are virtually perfect!
Exceptional footage and audio, Emily has out did herself on this episode. Great to have you three back on the canal, Historically fitting from Middlewich, love that town. You'll have time this spring to work on the boat, for now just chilling and sharing your magical footage will have to do. How many times a day does Allen get feed. Looks like she is very well cared for and enjoying the puzzle life. Thanks again for giving us another upbeat video. Enjoy!
There's a 'salt museum' in either Northwich or Middlewich (maybe both!) and they told us that many of the houses in those towns are timber framed because the brine extraction causes the ground, and houses, to sink sometimes. When it happens, they put an enormous jack under the timber frame and jack up the house to where it was, then pack in some extra material and it's good for a few more years!
I always enjoy watching your vlogs. Alan is so cute and loves seeing her having a walk around outside your boat.love you both go out and about and talk about the history of the place.so looking forward to the next vlog. Have a lovely week.😊
@Lookup2Wakeup The closest you can get without entering the sea is Bristol but, I know Ben and Emily will LOVE Bristol. also there are some great festivals near there. perfect for a musician like Ben.
Loved the vlog (again!!). Classic ‘Benny’s Facts (tm)’. 😆 Recipes, cruising, locks, beautiful bird song and loads of Alan! Thanks so much ☺️ Is that a new song at the start of the vid? Loving it 😊
