Loving Brians attitude towards things not going as planned. He looked gutted at first but by the end of the video he had completely turned around and decided not to let it get him down
The older 20VEs from P11 Primeras sounds a lot more vtecy, the one in that particular S14 is a P12 20V head if I remember correctly, better for power and flow but doesn’t sound as good as the older ones
Was about to say the same thing, cheap and easy to do and when you pull them apart and realise how easy it would be for the little rollers to go through your motor, it’s a no brainer.
Water pump bolts are handy for low mileage/new engine cam handling but for a high mileage engine cam removal your best bet is to put the cam sprocket back on and use that instead. That would give you much more controlled leverage to get that crusty cam out.
Was not expecting to see a neo VVL sticker in the Oakes garage, surely get your hands on a G20 and SR20VE swap it at some point, you won’t regret it, I promise
So, for those that have never known what NEO or VVL stands for: Nissan Ecology Oriented Variable Valve Lift and Timing (commonly known as VVL & VVT) is an automobile variable valve timing technology developed by Nissan. VVL varies the duration, and lift of valves by using hydraulic pressure switch between two different sets of camshaft lobes. VVT varies the valve timing throughout the RPM range. Together they function similarly to Honda's VTEC system.
Brian if you’re going to have JP do the work you might as well go the extra mile and go forged internals you’re almost there to Texas speed cam so you might as well get rods pistons and bearings you’ll make it a lot more stronger in the long run it’s awesome to see you get your Beamer back on the road 🔥👍😃🤙🏽
Lol those VVL heads are everywhere here in nz haha I have about 4 customers with them and I work at a very small workshop so if u really get stuck they aren’t hard to find here in New Zealand
Should have kept the 2,8, when it's not chocked by the stock intake it produce similar hp as the 3,0 and don't have problem with their œil pump. For the price of the m54 and the ls he could have put on a supercharger and get the same power.
Bro you need some of those lift things that Taylor Ray and all motor phong use that you put under car and it lifts to about 600 mm to 800 mm put them under your ramps and once car is on you could lift to the height you want love ya vids chur chur from tauranga new Zealand
Don't forget to do the trunion upgrade on those rocker arms. Did a cam swap on my roommates 2016 SS, pulled the rocker arms off and the needle bearings were about to ruin his day. Known issue on the engine. The CHE kit is great, my Caprice Wagon, roommate's SS, and friends Trans Am are all running them.
Idea for Jimmy on Dyno Ramp Cheap Option - Quick Jack/Scissor Lift Add tabs or joints or pivot or something to ramps and middle of scissor jacks for max stability (could bolt to ground, or add anchor/pin) Maybe one Heavy Duty one slid inbetween the ramps that lifts them both? In either case, I'd have some kind of bar or rigid 3rd piece to the ramps to stabilize/level the ends.
You can lite build and turbo that ls and make stupid power and its a pretty simple swap to do im looking for a e36 to throw my built head and cammed l33 5 3l ls swap and planning on one big ass turbski or twins
I know the ls will be fun, but it just seems to easy. It's like gaming with God mod, you get over it real quick, the challenge is what makes it worthwhile, would have loved to see the n54 a little longer. Still cool either way, good in yas Edit. The cam troubles make it more of a challenge haha. Also if you're a rep for link you obviously have New Zealand associates. Heaps of vvl sr20 in NZ, cheap as. Primeras are worth like 1k nzd max over here. That's like $700 USD for the whole car
gotta love it. tuners helping body guys. body guys helping engine guys. tuners helping engine guys. engine guys helping tuners. engine guys helping body guys. it's a perfect circle. A perfect example of being good at what you do.
