Gen-X’s Freddie Mercury. Dave STILL moves thousands of people at every concert! Saw them 3x in 2017-2018. Dave gave us all a workout!

Thank you! I thought I was the only one to see something alike in their swagger and energy. And I think Dave was bi too, although leaning more into straight.

For the Masses Tour was my first time seeing live Depeche Mode, I was 15. Now I’m 52 years young and I’m still loving them. What a great time seeing Wilder playing synths ♥️🎹

Same here. Also became an omd fan that night. DM used to have great opening bands. That ended in 2001.

I have this concert on DVD, i wish they would remaster it in 4K or something, this is peak Depeche Mode for me. Pure gold.

It was re-released in a fantastic box set with the 101 Film, the full concert, and a LOT of extras recently. Blu Ray, not 4k, but good enough. The audio is utterly phenomenal.

For the next intro to the DM universe you should show Jake either Behind The Wheel from 101 or I Feel You from Devotional

Such an iconic moment in music history, PERIOD. These guys grinded their way up the club and arena concert scene … and reached the pinnacle. They were bashed by media for a style that didn’t fit the mold. They earned their grandeur by making and performing music the right way.

Great review guys! I was supposed to see them on their Masses tour but I got friggin mono! 🤬’n MONO!! I gave my buddy who went some money to get me a shirt which I still have but it’s a whee bit small now. Luckily I got to see them on their Violator tour which was a blast. Gotta love DM! 🎹

Iconic song from an iconic group. It might be their best song (I'm also partial to Enjoy the Silence), certainly this live performance is much better than the 90s/2000s concerts I've seen.

I always interpreted this song as about a toxic co-dependent gay relationship, overt or covert-But apparently it’s about drugs.

I love ❤️ this song 🎵, to me it was the 1 is a great go to sing along and the movie 🎬 (about every concert), It's [kinda] a documentary, only part of it me think twice on it, because whoever got a chance to be on the road along with the band (talk about a brain child that would end up on TV in all reality), also I do remember there being 4 but didn't know there 3 members until later on (Alan left in 95 but they another one named Vince Clark prior to that)... anyway I like it.

Great video selection guys I can't tell you how much that song means to me I don't think you will ever see band especially a synth band at this time You got to recognize what time it was in music this was 1988 no one expected Depeche Mode to do what it did that night to fill the Rose Bowl and you talk about a moment in time could you have imagined ending your concert with the perfect song to end it to to create that kind of crowd response with a song that sounds absolutely majestic I would love to talk to Alan Wilder and Martin Gore and David Bascom who produced this album with Depeche Mode how they came up with the ending of this song It was it was everything and could you have imagined Dave standing out there and receiving that energy back to him in that moment and time at the crescendo of that song with those keys do that and you hear everything else going on in the song You hear you see Alan Wilder playing the backing keys portion of it and you hear it It was the perfect song to encapsulate a moment in time and a great tribute to what Depeche Mode would become.
