Aw man, this was a fun video! I LOVE tractor and truck pulls! I love the all the things you are doing with the cybertruck! We will never see anyone else put the damn thing in a sled pull, like you guys LOL!
Going to tractor pulling in Germany since 1978 since I was 4 yrs. Never knew this so detailed! Thanks and thumbs up for the superb explanation and both trucks pull's! 🇩🇪❤️🇺🇲 Best wishes from Germany! (Got 8 Teslas. Not kidding. ✌️😎✌️)
@@4literfandaniel373 -- You are easily impressed. The explanation was good, but it was more mechanics than physics. He just told us where, when, and how the weight was applied. That was purely an explanation of the mechanical apparatus that moves the sled and drops it off its wheels, putting load on the vehicle. Physics would be explaining drag coefficients, normal force, materials composition, shock, strain, stress etc, and most of those are used by mechanics and in engineering, as well...
@@kender1412 dude, just let people enjoy things. This isn’t a popular mechanics page, they review trucks for Christ sakes. Sorry I didn’t get a college degree. I just thought it was a detailed explanation. Nothing more annoying than a self proclaimed genius looking for validation by picking apart a comment on the internet.
@@tabithaswartz6139It’s not about the vehicles being able to handle it, it’s about companies with crazy restrictions on their warranty. Tesla is well known for voiding people’s warranty for things that they really shouldn’t. And Dodge/Ram is almost as bad. Tesla actually employs people just to look for their vehicles online and they stop the warranty if they don’t like what you are doing with their vehicle.
Fck no it's not. Ppl from Cali keep having a house built here then leaving. All they do is drive up rent and living costs. They can't handle the elevation.
I agree, I think the problem is the way they pushed EV's on people. Politicians talking about making laws that by 2035 all new cars will need to be EV. If they promoted EV as an alternative for people interested and stopped with the false claims about it being environmentally friendly I think less people would have such a bad attitude about them. Simple truth is EV's simply don't work for a lot of people while they do work for some others. Let the individual decide what is right for them and keep the government out of it.
@@awdeveau I agree with you. The only advantage to having governments set a deadline is that it gives a push to manufacturers, scientists and inventors to develop battery and charging technology that would be a real viable alternative to our current combustion engines and hopefully, even surpass them in range and performance. Thus far, the technology doesn't look as if it is going to materialise before that deadline. In the meantime, I'm sticking to my 3 litre diesel. Whilst I don't think that current battery technology is as green as they are touting, I do advocate that vehicles in cities with heavy traffic congestion be mostly EVs as that would really help to keep the air quality in cities and large towns cleaner and healthier. In that respect, EVs have an important role to play.
@@DaBrute She had a bigger event to worry about. They were making a video to communicate to the RU-vid audience so they didn't asked what options where picked.
The cast aluminum is pretty strong but very brittle compared to steel. It will do just fine if you load it along the right axis. Obviously that doesn’t always happen when towing but a tractor pull is about the best case scenario for the aluminum.
I'm not a CyberTruck fan, but I think the results come down to tires and weight. The CyberTruck has plenty of power, but that doesn't mean much if there's no traction. So while I'm happy to see the Ram win, it ultimately doesn't mean as much as people probably want to think. Also have to say, everyone has such a bias against the CT that I actually find myself rooting for it in a way. The people vocally hating it do so for dumb reasons. I don't think anyone is buying a CT to tow cross-country (and if they do, they're stupid). But having a vehicle with a bed for weekend HomeDepot runs or towing a boat to a nearby lake once in a while is a perfectly legitimate task for a vehicle, and it does that just fine. It's probably better thought of as a modern El Camino.. no one ragged on that for having a low payload/towing capacity, yet the CT will also have the benefit of being better in snow, very quick, and more efficient from an energy-per-mile perspective. Sounds like a worthy vehicle to me.. Also, you gotta give credit to Tesla for actually making something so bold and controversial. Every other truck looks pretty much the same, which is fine, but it's nice to see something break the mold and take a chance once in a while. Done with rant, really enjoyed the video 👍🏼
Looks like the back wheel motor stalled out. The truck had plenty of traction. It just needed more like 80% power directed to the back motor. Or the motor isn't powerful enough for this.
@@traugdor Actually believe it or not Teslas have really lax warranties. I would bet the Dodge voided its warranty long before the Tesla did. Good old European Fiat 3500.

The average residential electricity rate in California is 35¢/kWh, which is 98% higher than the national average rate of 18¢/kWh. At 18¢/kWh, 107 kWh costs about $19.
What a fantastic episode from every aspect. I love the lady's speech at the Drivers meeting on the farmers putting on the show and feeding us. Very touching.
Yes the cybertruck is much more capable, they should have tried with the other modes and maybe also without traction control. Also the tires should be deflated and maybe use better tires
@@StefanoFinocchiaro Kinda what I was thinking too because if you notice at one point shortly after starting the right rear tire was not turning, so I imagine traction control crippled it
Came here to say this. With TC off, it would /could have roasted the tires... which would probably have led to a similar run. I'm no Tesla fan, but it could have done much better.
@balloonb0y677 how the hell did you come up with this thought is the real question. Traction control, is literally for loss of traction. Had nothing to do with fighting against loss of momentum. If it detects wheel spin, it cuts power to thst wheel, which results in loss of momentum, while keeping traction. Traction itself allows you to get momentum, but not these traction control systems.
@@bualdoot83 you do realize that traction control doesn’t just cut off power to wheels with no power… it uses that extra power to give to other wheels 🤯
@@volvo09 Not true, the CT can disengage traction control. There are a lot of different driving modes that give you varying degrees of traction, from full on to full off. Plenty of videos out there of the CT drifting on a dirt road.
That was a fun video. The crowd being there made it better. The pressure I felt on your behalf as you were pulling in front of them was palpable. Great job.
TIRES TIRES TIRES!!!!! Put OFF ROAD tires on the CT THEN see what happens!!! you where using ALL SEASON on the truck!!! Thats like putting snow shoes on a down hill skier!!!
Outside the practical box yeah. Most people that buy a truck, want a truck. Imagine trying to load or unload a cyberturd from either side like you can do, with any other truck...
@@jamesaustralian9829 Any other truck except for the ones I see jacked up to where the sides of the box are above head height. The people who buy trucks for "practical" reasons are a small fraction of the total number of pickup truck buyers. Most pickup trucks are never driven off road and seldom have anything bigger than a bag of groceries put in the bed-- maybe a chest of drawers when their kid moves out of the house. Pickup trucks are largely bought and driven by people who are more concerned about their image than practicality. That's why they sell plastic bed liners for pickup trucks by the hundreds of thousands.

Ask a farmer how far a electric car will go On one 400 W solar panel given the normal day of five hours at Full sun and see what their answer is. His answer will be I don’t know, but it can’t go very far. Then he will say it’s just common sense.
It would be cool to see all the full size trucks compete in a tractor pull. F150, Silverado, ram 1500, tundra, and the titan. Just for fun. Or maybe they would only get 5 feet lol.
Not sure what was different, but the over cranked b-roll, GFX, informative cutaways, and little things like the placement of you guys addressing the camera really made this a fun video to watch. I’ve been watching the channels for a long time and you’re definitely capitalizing on what works and overall production value. Nice!
Andree and Roman, great video. I think if I recall the Rivian did a lot better in the tractor pulling than your cyber truck just did but you only have the dual. Y’all need a new 2025 Rivianquad and try. at almost 1200 pound foot lbs of torque the new Rivian should put on a show.
Thanks guys. As a non American all of the info this video offered was new to me. The video got me actually more than a bit interested in the sport! Wish i could see a big event live out there over the pond. All kinds of interesting vehicles and powerplants!!! 😊
Better tires (!) and more weight on the rear of the CT would have exceeded 300 feet easy. Come on TFL - get the CT proper A/T tires like you did for the Ram. The OEM tires are a compromise at best as most people prefer range over off road vs TFL which focuses on off road driving and upgrades the tires on most of your trucks. DO IT 🙏
That's what country folk are becoming: fearful of anyone who's not exactly like them. If they take time to realize you're not 'a threat' to them, they're OK, but until then...
I’m originally from Milwaukee my mom was a country girl Wisconsin Madison area my ex was from Northern Wisconsin and I spent a couple years living up close to Stevens point in the late 70s common sense is not very common especially in rural America. They are easily driven by people they wanna believe and we’ve also been manipulated and then become manipulators. It’s sad to see The gift that people are being given with the electric vehicle revolution, solar panels on their barns and they would have free fuel. Instead, they get bent over and over by the oil companies in the powers that be, and don’t see that this would be a great freedom for them.
@@johnstubbe3113 Solar panels would be great if it wasn't for the fact that 100% of solar companies are a scam nightmare and not in any way beneficial to the consumer. If you go the buying route it's insanely expensive for the equipment. Prices need to come down.
You can hear the Big Oil CEOs laughing. We have been brainwashed since we first rolled our hot wheel truck across the living room with a Shell Oil sticker on it. The hate is real. considering the fixed 60/40 split between front and rear in this case. the tri motor is better because of the 2 rear motors not sharing the power for the 2 rear wheels and better of being 80/20 or option to change on the fly when less traction on front or rear to push to the wheels that have the traction apply more power to them
Really makes you appreciate the demo runs where they’re doing those giant Volvo mining dump trucks and they just drag the sled wherever they want for as long as they care to.
For the record, Tesla SuperCharger rates are typically 3x the local residential rate that is in effect at that time of day. You can charge at home for 1/3 to 1/5 that cost depending on time of day. That means the CyberTruck could have gotten that 107 KWH of energy at home for about $12.
Only people lucky enough to own a house with its own land where you can park next to your own house can 'charge at home'. The other 90% of people cannot.
Yup. Charging my car at $0.11 / KWh at home, in Colorado. 100 miles cost me $3. 100 miles w my Ford Explorer cost $14 😂 Guess which own I use when just need to commute...

@@alanmay7929I think there is far more to towing than engine horsepower and torque. The cybertruck wasn’t meant to compete against 2500 diesel trucks. It was meant to be an EV. It does everything very well. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. But no need to be rude

Great video, guys! I think we need to get all the electric pickup trucks setup with the best tires and suspension setups and have some experienced sled-pullers do some pulls. Hating something for no or some made up arbitrary reasons is so incredibly stupid, and shouting at someone for driving an electric vehicle is just as incredibly stupid. Electric engines and vehicles are just a power source and a system of propulsion. Diesel, gasoline, propane (often used rock crawlers), and electric, it’s all the same. It’s just an engine and a fuel/power source. It’s all just technology and science in action. I’m a firm believer in live and let live. Don’t involve me, leave me be and I’ll leave you be. But if I become involved because some idiot pulled me into the situation, such as insulting me as one of these idiots did who shouted at me for simply driving and plugging in the company eclectic vehicle. Then until I get bored of it I’m going to be actively involved and saying how incredibly stupid people like them are. It’s a little personal now, which means I’m going to call out their ignorance when it come to electric vehicles. But, what more can you do when you’re in a red state surrounded by a bunch of idiot hypocrites who don’t see their own hypocrisy, wearing shirts with freedom on it, while telling people who disagree with them that they don’t belong there.
What's the highest power percentage setting for the front wheels? Should have been at least 80% rear. The sled pulls down on the rear of the vehicle while taking weight off the front.
I used to sled pull. More HP in my diesel truck than Nascar. Nothing beats that rumble. The torque of an EV would do quite well. edit: after watching - surprised it didn't pull it more. Must be a limiter built into the cybertruck.
Some other commentator said that they should lower the air pressure like you would in any off-road situation, and put more weight on the rear axle. And then, since this is a 1/2 ton going up against the 3/4 ton truck, maybe put different tires on and use the tri motor cyber beast. I think that would be a little bit more same class. Nobody would even think about putting an F150 against that dodge ram built as it is and expecting it to win. And then show the screens on the cyber truck to prove that it was in all those proper settings.
Fun stuff...back in the late 70's at the Sawgrass Recreational Park in Broward County Florida, I pulled a sled with my 71 Jeep CJ5 with a 4Cylinder, second gear low range, nearly a full pull...I think that motor had maybe 45 HP! Tractors do it all the time.... We are all so obsessed with HP that we forget that people pulled very heavy things with way less...it is about traction and gears!
