My new favorite thing the needle nose plyers pulling the paper print out of the dredge across the table dragging the nut anchor. Best CGI EVERRRRR!!! :)

I love fitting & welding. Although aluminum is one of my favorites, and Lincoln has everything except a soup kitchen, give me a TIG torch. Can't be a real miner without skills in welding. Nice work gang. Innovation is an adventure.

Hi Emily Congratulations on your new family and continued success with gold mining. I recently came across your videos and am really enjoying them. I am a Bering Sea Gold fan and hope to see you again on the series. Regarding your anchoring system I have 2 suggestions for a future uograde. On the video I could not see what is on the end of the chain trough ... and wondered if you had a replaceable roller that would reduce the chance of metal wear on the end of the chain trough ... by the chain ... as the anchor moves in and out. My second thought is regarding the aluminuim chain trough. If it was me I would cut strips of 1/2" tephlon and fasten the tephlon to the trough bottom ... and trough sides ... using galvanized carridge bolts and locking nuts. The tephlon would help the chain slide easier in both directions ... prevent metal wear that would require a future chain trough repairs ... and could be easily switched out if the tephlon someday wore down and needed replacing. Hey Billie thanks so much for watching and saying hi! We considered both of those ideas. For the roller - we just wanted to minimize moving parts. The stainless bars at the end were fabricated out of an old prop shaft from a boat. It was cheap to make, lasts a long time, and is easily replaceable because it bolts on. The problem with rollers is that the line comes out at weird angles so we would need multiple rollers - and it's just not needed. We subscribe to the KISS method. If we don't need moving parts, we don't have them. For the trough - we thought about putting some plastic sheeting down on the bottom for that reason, but actually it's a feature that the chain doesn't slide out easily, not a bug. We don't want the anchor slipping off when we untie the line. It's better just to manually set them up to fall when we want.
We thought about them but 1) it's another layer of complexity and not necessary and 2) the anchors not rolling off easily is a feature, not a bug. You don't want them to go shooting out anytime the line is undone

Hey Emily, big fan. Not sure if u take stupid questions but I've always wondered why dredgers don't add a Grizzly Bar system to their dredge nozzles in order to keep big rocks from clogging the hose & essentially shutting the operations down?
In west australia we have the biggest gold mine in the world they have made a computer slash machine that detects gold in trees the gold is so fine it grows with the tree as part of the trees matter this computer analysis detects gold on or in the tree . They then do surrounding trees and can evaluate a excervation area for possibale gold deposits on a large scale underground crazy but thought id share
