St. Pete Native: -Make sure you stay in St. Pete, not only do you have to contend with the bridge but Tampa is pretty boring. - Find a place in Downtown St. Pete. There's a lot to do and only 10 min from the beach. Even if you're not planning a beach day check out Johns Pass Village. It's touristy but I promise the coast here is about 10X better than the beaches in Cali. -Swamp boat tours are about 2 hours south of the area. Also considering you'll be here in August don't even bother. The mosquitoes in that area will be abysmal. - Pre-game at Fergs across the street from the stadium. Cheap drinks and a tunnel under the road to the stadium. It's a must do for anyone attending a game. Afterwards grab a real Cuban sandwich (they originated in TB not Miami) at Bodega near the stadium, or at a dive spot Called Engine No.9 which is a Chicago burger spot that home and visiting players frequent after the game.
