Incidentally La bendicion = The benediction. That's the utterance of a blessing; not the blessing itself. It's like when someone says 'Your coffees are awesome, god bless you!' and those words, literally, are the benediction. Keep up the good work guys!
That is so awesome! Thank you for the further insight, it's always nice to learn more. It just makes that coffee feel more profound! Thanks for sharing
Anders! Good to hear from you. Backstory means a lot to us, and we really enjoyed sharing this with people like you since it's part of our core values!
What has been the way you guys approached making contacts with green coffee producers? Where/How did you get the contacts you currently have with producers?
This is a big question that will be hard to answer in a comment, and that might just mean that we need to make a video about it. As of now, we have a couple importers that we've built relationships with that help with contacting and working with green coffee producers. Especially since we are a small and new roasting company, making those connections without importers is very very difficult. On the other hand, we are working on building personal relationships in Indonesia right now that are outside of an importing companies, however, so far that's taken longer than a year for us. It's still a working progress!
@Mirror Coffee Roasters I prefer the big questions 😉 I understand that it's hard to answer in a question. I'm very curious since I'm considering starting my own rosdtery. I've so far got a contact that sources beans from Etiophian farmers, good quality but of course the Etiophian signums. Where did you look to initially when starting these relationships? For me it's been the stroke of luck on this part since the markets are quite undeveloped digitally. I've seen spice markets in Marocco which are next level from what's available but it's only possible to source from them after visiting the country and making those connections whilst the products themselves then wouldn't be from the main source. I'm making analogies and assumptions when I presume this would be the case with coffee as well but I see it as a likely case. Issue here for me, as it likely is for you, is funding and connections. If oke is able to visit somewhere and make connections with a guide and then draw up juridical documents for supplies it would likely be a more favorable position to work from. As mentioned before these are mainly thoughts sprung from my intention to run my own roaster in Sweden. If you would like to get in touch, perhaps make a connection and discuss things further then just hit me up with a "business card"-email @ wilhelm.bodmark@gmail.com. Who knows what we can create together and what ideas might be made.
It's definitely quite the journey and will require a lot of funding, time, and perhaps some failure to go directly to farmers or meeting someone locally. There's absolutely no way of doing that easily let alone finding a way to import the coffee on your own can be extremely difficult and expensive. That's why we are working with these great coffee importers who have these connections already established with farmers and producers. They are of great help connecting us with these people, but also helping us with logistics! Thanks for asking the big questions, and best of lucky to your journey of pursuing the launch of a roastery.
I love hearing about what you guys are up to and how you are growing and moving forward. Any chance you guys ship Coffee to South Africa??? I would love to get a taste of your passsion.
Hey Evan! Thanks for watching, and it's very encouraging to hear that you enjoyed the video. It would be so awesome to ship coffees to South Africa, but shipping would be pretty expensive. Unless you're willing to pay for it!
Nice going guys, these coffees sound amazing, we would love to do a tasting review on our Grounds For Divorce segment of them! Unfortunately, due to COVID and the Border closure we cannot zip down to Bellingham to see you guys :( We are just across the Border in South Surrey, B.C. We are Subscribed to you on here and follow you on Instagram, hope you will follow us back on here and Instagram too, it is great to support each other. Nice job wearing the Canucks hat, we made it through to the next round of the "playoffs"...it so doesn't feel like hockey season though lol. Keep in touch, nice to see you doing well. Cheers, Rick :)
Hey! Thanks for watching and commenting. That would be awesome to get our coffee in for "Grounds For Divorce" That would be awesome, but yes, that might be a little difficult right now. Let's definitely keep in touch! We miss visiting BC so we can't wait for the border to open up. Haha yes! The classic Canucks hat, but that may change to a Seattle Kraken hat, but we'll see haha
@@MirrorCoffeeRoasters Hi there, my pleasure - you have great segments and thank you for your reply! I will shoot you a message on Instagram because I don't see your Company email on your website. From what we hear, the Border will likely be closed into the New Year due to COVID. LOL, yeah - I was wondering if you were going to follow the new Seattle team, though, their name could have been better...lol. Talk to you soon. Cheers, Rick :)
