I purchased the Flojet twice. The first time it stopped working I felt it might be my fault. After the second macerator failed the same way I tried replacing parts. I too had trouble finding sources. My third macerator is a Specstar Macerator that looks very similar to your model. I’m now into my third year using this pump and it’s still working great. I liked the Flowjet but service for me was nonexistent so I switched and I’m happier. I’ve been RV’ing over 8 years and I need a macerator about 4+ consecutive months each year

I have used flow jet for 3 yrs and just replaced gaskets! Found them online with no issues but why they made gaskets out of paper is crazy they will always need replaced! But very happy with pump ! I use 3/4 “ commercial grade garden hose and pump a hundred feet! Sure beats portable tanks!

Thank you for making this video. I am on the second Flowjet Macerator Pump. Xylem replaced the first one with the one we currently have but it too leaks and, like you, I have not been able to find the gasket for it. I will be looking into the Sprance and replace the Flowjet. I only use it at home as we dump at RV dumpsites or full hook up sites.

I started with FloJet and owned two. The first one motor stopped working and a replacement motor was more expensive than buying an entire new unit. The second one failed also and yes it was the motor. I switched to a Specstar macerator and so far no issues. This is my second year using it. I generally use it about 5 months every 10 days during a 12 month cycle moochdocking in a warmer climate.

I'm in NZ. I converted a 12m (40') intercity coach a few years back. As far as pumps go I always have a spare. My 24v macerator pump is permanently connected. Just hook up and flick the switch. My grey and black are combined. Around 750liters and I pump out every 6 - 8 days on average. It pumps through a 20mx30mm hose no problems. When a pump gives me problems I simply replace it and dump the old one. A macerator pump usually lasts around 2-3 years before it's knackered.

Does this system require you to manually turn it on? Our RV is parked for most of the year about 4 feet below access to home septic system. Ideally we'd leave a macerator attached at all times to the black and grey water ports and the macerator would detect liquid flowing into it and turn on automatically as if it were a basement toilet macerator. That isn't how these work is it?
@LivinOurDream

There is no auto detect on this or most macerator I’ve seen.

I built one out of a garbage disposal after going through 2 of them POS when you have the macerator straight up like that water sepps into the motor area and destroys the casket

Good to know. Thanks… I will look at ways to mount it horizontal. I just didn’t want to add a full length of sewer hose if I didn’t have to.

There’s nothing as frustrating as having the wherewithal to do your own repairs and finding out the company won’t, or can’t, supply parts. GRRRR 🤬🤬

The gasket for your pump do you know what it is made out of? The reason I ask is can you take it apart and just make a new gasket for it and install yourself. Is it rubber, garlok or rubber nylon inserted. If you can take the old one out trying to keep it in one piece best you can draw a template and cut a new one with the correct material.
@LivinOurDream

Yep, that’s plan B if I can’t find the original gasket.

I wonder if they changed their name? Can’t find Sprance. But can find a Magam. Looks EXACTLY the same. Same specs. Just the logo changed. $75.55. Thoughts? They even use most of the same pictures in the Amazon ad.

I’ve seen a couple that look exactly the same. Just different sellers. Just might want to find reviews, especially service if possible. I haven’t had any issue yet, and have no idea if I will be able to contact Sprance or not.

Yes, still like it, we used it extensively this past winter and it still works as new. Never overheats, and never blows a fuse. No leaks either.

Do you not have to use water while maserating with the Sprance pump?
@LivinOurDream
@LivinOurDream 3 месяца назад
No, we do not. Just connect it to the tanks and dump. Though we do have a black tank flush on our rig, so we use that to flush the black tank. The Sprance has a fitting to attach a hose if you need to back flush your tanks though we never use it.

We have not had to contact Spruance directly yet. However, if you search Amazon for “Spruance Macerator Pump” you will find the pump we purchased. I also noticed that product support is offered through Amazon, so on my order it provides a link to receive product support.

@@LivinOurDream My husband said the end with the fuse on the switch cable is the problem because the spring broke & the fuse would not make contact. He replaced the spring with a similar spring which burnt the fuse. He replaced the fuse and bought another spring. It works now but he can tell the spring is not the correct one. It would be great if we could replace the Switch Cable or at the very least get the correct spring BUT when I contacted Amazon they gave me a link (messaging assistant for Amazon's selling partners) and I sent an email which was to go to the company, SLOVETONE. I just received a email from Amazon saying, "We are sorry to let you know that your message associated with order xxxxxxx cannot be delivered. The seller associated with your order or inquiry has left the Amazon store or is no longer able to receive any email communications."
