We made the trip up to North Western Massachusetts for the Museum of Contemporary Art because they're home to the incredible unique Brava roller coaster! This is the worlds first coaster as a part of an art exhibit. It is on exhibition for a year and a half, and is just now ending its run- so we got it just in time! This thing really strips back all the noise of a theme park, and just has you the rider and the ride. It's like every little thought you have or noise you make would become way more noticeable. I imagine it's a pretty surreal experience. Maybe even a little eerie. Especially with that audience, it's like some crazy dream! Really cool idea though.

I was super lucky to be able to get reservation to ride during my visit back in June! The experience was so surreal with how quiet the other guests watching. It gave a weird feeling of stage fright without me actually doing anything? This was my first visit to MassMoCA and I’ll absolutely be visiting again. The changing of the installations definitely will make it exciting to see something new but I’ll definitely be sad to see Brava! go. If you get the chance to go definitely visit in the warmer months so you get to see the outdoors exhibits as well!

I really like the engineering on Brava. Its such a small basic ride but the design is still fascinating. The track and trains and everything about it is just so cool.

Its so trippy to see you guys at Mass Moca. I went to college in North Adams and used to go there all the time with my student discount. Mass Moca is built in what used to be the Sprague Electric Plant. North Adams was suffering a lot when that plant closed, and Mass Moca was put in the old building as a revitalization project. Thank you for showing off the Sol Lewitt exhibit. Theres a ton of cool stuff in that place and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Williamstown down the road.

As much as I look at rides like Taron or Nemesis as art because of their story/theming/music, the simple concept of a coaster is also art

Really beautiful museum with lots of space. I love old industrial settings with a lot of red bricks that have endured more than a century. It's great that you had fun and embraced the art part of the coaster exhibition.

There is a very good reason why art is now being included in STEM. Creativity is what goes into things to make them look seamless and pleasing to the eye. Roller coasters are excellent examples. I think of RMC and how they can take once boring layouts and turn those same layouts into masterpieces with inversions. Engineering and art go hand in hand. Think of it like this: Without art, every car would look like the abomination that is the Cyber Truck.

We need more of this concept! I have been playing (literally) with this idea in the PC game Planet Coaster recently, where I am designing a dwelling like a small home and then creating a coaster on the property or better yet, inside the property - so it would become "part" of the home experience, kind of like an Airbnb with a coaster as part of the stay. (Wouldn't that be awesome in reality?) This type of work is phenomenal and full of imagination, and really gets to the root of what a coaster is, and how it can exist within a very thoughtful realm of our joyful experience as humans. I can't wait to go one day! Kudos to the CS team for this great coverage!

It's in the North-West of Massachusetts and thus quite far away from Lowell Mills. But I think industrial buildings from a certain era tend to look very similar.

they wanted to maintain the fact that its at its core an art piece, and wanted people to get up close and admire it. Riders have to stand back when it cycles which puts a barrier between the viewer and the ride.
