This one really does feel like the flagship version. I think it was designed for the Disneyland track layout because all the pacing issues were nonexistent here. Also I always really appreciate Liz's takes as well 🙏
After seeing the final product, it’s very obvious that the scenes were designed for the Disneyland version. Much better pacing and less dead space than the WDW version
David, I started following your channel shortly before Disney closed Splash Mountain. Since then, your Monday constructions reports have become appointment viewing. Thank you for all your efforts and for helping to tell the story of this transition to those of us that can't visit Disneyland as often as we'd like. I can't wait to experience it myself when I visit next around New Years, but until then know that we appreciate you sharing your love for the parks and your raw emotion at experiencing TBA for the first time.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted spoilers, but as I watched, I became certain that I wanted to see your face and hear your excitement as the months of recon came to the finish line! 🎉
You both nailed it. This ride has a fun, whimsical, party vibe, and it's great to have a quality ride back open here(with a superior q to the old ride). And the pacing is significantly improved over WDW. But the story just doesn't have the stakes it should. It's a slow moving dark ride story with a fast paced thrill ride system
I get it...I was in group 1 yesterday (by sheer luck) and was one of the first 20 or so to walk that queue with two Imagineers who walked us in. I was the first group who went in through that ADA/Single Rider ramp. It was super special. It takes you right to the loading. We were all smiles and few may or may not have cried.... thankfully, the happy tears were covered by all the water cuz we were SOAKING WET! I loved it. The only down side is that the ADA ramp skips the kitchen experience.
@FreshBakedDisney Thank you for showing that, since I missed it. I'm still recovering from Achilles tendon reconstruction surgery and stairs and I aren't on speaking terms yet. 🤣🤦♀️
Watching this from being closed down and being rethemed to being open ty Fresh Bake for the adventure and showing us everything every week and please continue to give us the state of Disneyland reports
Did anyone think of the Original Space Mountain when you saw that rotating light on the final lift hill? Talk about flashbacks! Hello From Phoenix Arizona 🌡 🔥
Great to see you so excited! While Splash Mountain was one of my childhood favorites, I have done my mourning. I'm ready to go in with an open mind and an accepting heart. Can't wait for that feeling again.
The idea of shrinking down is to continue the search for musicians amongst the smaller critters in the bayou, at their level, in their environment. It’s supposed to be a more intimate interaction with the little critters.
beside that one part where there was nothing, i would say they did a great job! It could never be compared to Splash Mountain, but this is a great looking ride.
I was the guy who shouted "Fresh Baked" when you walked by the queue...we had to leave the queue went to DCA for Soaring...came back and got on the ride...we went on ADA so we missed the kitchen and went the Single Rider way...the only way you knew it was running again was by going back to the ride...
LOL Love how excited you get at seeing it open! I'll be driving down again next year- hopefully by then the lines will be a bit more manageable! Great video. Thanks! 😍
TLDR? I'm with Liz and prefer the dark and sinister. It's a mountain and just great space for some darkness. They should have made a story involving Facilier to make it darker.
@genialgigi1800 I agree... though I get why they didn't because they are skirting the VooDoo thing. They got a LOT of heat with the movie because it portrayed some stereotypes that people didn't appreciate...and the argument was made that going from Splash to a sark VooDoo would just be replacing one racial story with another, so they had to come up with a new story eentirely that wasn't "offensive" . I think the new story is ridiculous and makes no sense, but considering how they were trying to be an PC as they could, I understand it.
It's a theme park, but still pretending like people can't have a passing thought of being better off historically then 100 years ago? Racism is worse than it was 30 years ago. But Disney won't touch sinister on a thrill ride? Ridiculous to me. But everyone can have their own opinion. Princesses have beards and danglers, but we can't have a mild mannered black servant tell us a story....
We will be there in February my 16 year old daughter and her friends can not wait to ride that ride. Her and her friends in that age group are obsessed with that movie. Looks fun can’t wait.
So much overwhelming joy here…absolutely loved every minute! Give me the classic beignets though please 😂 Now time to go watch the Tiana movie again so I know the story! ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing your excitement - so cute - you express what a lot of us feel! we are going in April-can’t wait!!! I saw a night ride- looks so pretty!
Zydako music in the first few scenes w/ the new critters. You're shrunk down to find the smaller critters (the frogs) which is why the frogs are so big. Then in the final scene you can see the frogs again at Tiana’s feet at normal size
Absolutely loved this video.. loved it so much I watched it twice! 😂 i loved the swamp, the characters, the overall music and theming! Can't wait to check this out in person! Thanks so much guys for another incredible video! ❤️❤️🙌🏼❤️❤️
There is something you didn't used to see - a cast member looking annoyed and ignoring guests while on their phone. Or is that part of the kitchen scene of the queue?
What makes the ride is listening to riders get wet and of course the drop. Obviously there are a few areas where they could have done something different for most of us. In the queue I think they should have tore down the large fireplace and added to the building so they could have a small office. Having the fireplace makes no sense. It is nice to have the ride back, hearing the screams and laughter really add to the park atmosphere.
Thank you David. This is my first look. Just started the video, so no comment on the ride yet. Happy I landed here as the beginning of the ride shares. Thanks for all you do. ❤
I tried yesterday with both que groups and didn't get a spot, I immediately was kicked to the this que is closed page. I was a single rider and it seemed like the only folks that got on were groups of 2 or more. I'm happy so many got on, and I enjoyed seeing how happy you all got to be, but it was a bitter day for me since I had expended so much to try to be there and I really wanted to ride it. Maybe when they finally open up the single rider line I'll be able to ride it. Thanks for your video.
I am going to miss all the zip-a-dee-doo-dah music:( How do you do Everybody's got a Laughing place And the finally with Zip-a-dee-doo-dah I don't think I will have this new music running through my head for the rest of the day
So interesting, once you mentioned how we go on a adventure to look for other critters to join the band It made sense to me, I think because it was the first ride it didn’t make so much sense but after you see it back it might make sense. I loved it, I thought it was good.
It's weird people can't understand the Mama Odie shrinking part...she wants to introduce you to the smallest musicians (frogs) that you would have missed if you were big. that's it. then she makes you big after you meet the frogs....
So cute the queue is great and I love the use of the inside drop to be your turned into a frog. The old lead up to the drop was so foreboding and anxious I wonder if this kind of joyous lead up to the drop will make it less traumatic for kids.
I'm guessing in the "laughing place dark area" there are probably a few bugs that they are working out with the animatronic hydraulics before they turn them on.
I'm so excited for this ride! I'm going to try to get into previews on Sunday the 27th, but won't be in the park until noon. Would you advise getting up at 7 to get a boarding group or trying for the 12pm drop?
I finally went on the Magic Kingdom version a few weeks ago The imagineers were so worried about throwing getting rid of the old animatronics that they never checked the ride before installing the new items
There's Zydeco-type music in the first show building...but that's about it. Speaking of music: Many people have complained that the song in the final scene of the ride is not memorable. I beg to differ: Sure it doesn't compare to "Zippy Do Dahh"...that song is such a classic, but the new song in Tiana's final scene has a nice hook and arrangement. Great video, David...thanks for making this for us!!
I absolutely love your excitement and energy. Your passion for the parks always brings me joy as many of us feel that way also. Even though, I feel Tiana should have had her own new attraction, it looks good. Agree with you on the laughing place. It definitely is lacking. I’m also sad they didn’t include Dr. Facilier, because I’m the same as Liz and like the danger element. Overall though, they did a good job and I love the songs. For new youngsters in the park, this will be the attraction they will always remember. For me, it’s Splash and it will live on in my memory and all the good times I had staring at a bear butt and laughing in the laughing place.
If you ever get a chance, you should talk to James Mulligan about his concept for the ride. He had some amazing ideas that really would've elevated the Tiana's Bayou ride.
Looks much better as far as the pacing goes from the WDW version. Still though, it seems forced. It could have been done with a standard dark ride. The "reasoning" for the slip-n-falls and the drop is kinda half a$$ed.....
Pretty cool! Love the technology update that splash mountain needed, but some parts were lacking everything! Can't wait to ride it though! Are they going fill in the gaps or that's it?
Going this weekend so hopefully we will get to ride this! We have 2 chances, Saturday at 12:00 and Sunday morning at 7:00... good luck to us LOL Thanks for the video 💜
David, for Wikipedia Zydeco is a music genre that was created in rural Southwest Louisiana by Afro-Americans of Creole heritage. It blends blues and rhythm and blues with music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles, such as la la and juré. Musicians use the French accordion and a Creole washboard instrument called the frottoir. The music is Amazing. We often play it while wecare cooking and eating dinner
Hey freshed baked!! I’m Maddie, the person you made that video about last night at Disneyland I’m so mad I went bowling 😅 your so funny and honest to watch it’s great me and my dad watch you ALL the time.. literally. But thank you so much for that it was really kind!! ❤
Great video!! Still not a fan of that overly massive sign...but agreed with yuir thoughts, the first 2/3 of thr ride had perfect pacing. And wish they could have added some things in the blank spaces.
thanks for the great video. how does it come, that most of the puppets are only playing music. could me more story, or how do you see this. but it looks like fireworks!
