Meaning the narrator is living life without worrying about how long or short his time on earth is "2+2=4" This shows the narrators perspective of life by using a oversimplified form of a usual complicated form of mathematics. Showing how at times the simple things in life are most valuable

I did something similar to your friend. I went up and read eminem's freestyle talking about how "that's an awfully hot coffee pot" is a metaphor for the state of government and shit. The teacher somehow didn't care and gave me a good grade for using "literary language" like metaphor and shit to analyze it. I'm not sure to this day if the teacher ever found out what I read at the front of the class that day.
