We are so glad to hear you love it! It’s one of the colors that is super polarizing as it has both good and bad emotions attached to it… you mentioned some of the good but the bad include caution and anxiety which we both felt at least one of the two. 😅
It causes both positive and negative emotions from what we’ve read which makes sense given sunshine and smiley faces being yellow, but also feeling cautious and anxious which are also emotions felt from the color yellow… We are so glad you only find happiness in Yellow! 😅
Loved everything about the cabin. Not worried if my clothes don’t fit in the closet because of the safe. Don’t mind the yellow and I love those baskets. Wouldn’t use them for my shoes though. Will keep them stored nicely in their dust covers until I’m ready to wear them. I do however want a cabin overlooking the park rather than the ocean. So all in all, I love the use of space and the happy yellow color.
I would put up with the bad and the ugly for that amazing shower! Love the move away from the plastic tub, although those work for the space in other cabins.
Excellent review. I've watched several reviews already. Your's was the only one to mention that the baskets were not on rails and the electric outlet issue for CPAP users. Your point about hanging space was also helpful. I did notice this in other reviews and wondered if the space was as small as it appeared. Thanks for sharing.
The benefits of the size of the space and the bathroom features overrides your bad and the ugly. Those aren't deal breakers for most people. Tbh, I think disadvantages of cabins are usually related to distance, size, convenience, privacy and affordability NOT so much the aesthetics. Cabins are a collection of products and services that clients choose and they pay for it. If something is totally unfit for purpose then that's a different story.
Great job critiquing this cabin. I would definitely be happy spending a 12 day cruise in it. The only thing I would find a bit annoying is the issue with the safe. You're right, longer cruise equals more clothes, tighter fit. Have fun😊
Thanks for the video - we have booked a family infinite balcony ocean view, so some similar (but some different) elements - definitely looks like the adjustment for the safe was done last minute and hopefully is adjusted for the Star of the Seas. The baskets are definitely odd too - guess just for throwing things like sweatshirts and hats and stuff in? I can see my kids doing that. The yellow doesn't bother me as much - makes me think of a tropical color - but I do get what you are saying and maybe just mixing in other tropical colors along with (less) yellow would be best. Thanks!
Open baskets are great for aeration especially for shoes! You want your smelly shoes to stink up your closet? Or I can imagine if you cruised behind guests and opened the closet just to get a whiff of their stickiness from shoes or other items that needed aeration. Remember that the humidity is high in the Caribbean. This is why the baskets are NOT enclosed. You dint want mold build up. Remember, if also about function not just style. Carry on. Enjoying your review this far. (P.S. moms know about having open basket and aeration.) OH, and the cabin stewards don't have much time to clean between cruises. No time to fully air out a closet.
LOVE the hooks! Great shower! The baskets are weird and could definitely be better. Has a real Celebrity feel to it (minus the yellow). Thanks for another great GBU cabin tour, Jared! 👏
It’s one of those colors that have both positive and negative emotions attached to it. Happiness or Sun for one and Caution or Anxiety for another. We happen to be the latter 😅
hello I have trip on the Icon in October. We have reserved state room with ocean view .Now they offered me to upgrade rom to infinity room.Do you know what is different? I like your room with the balcony. If my current reservation of state room is like yours I will keep it.Thank you
When you introduced the cabin you mentioned colorful which to me means not all colors are going to please everyone. I hope you and DH got used to the yellow. The baskets aren’t a big deal, but the lack of useable closet space may be for a traditional cruiser. However, the way people dress today, it really does not matter if the safe bumpout wrinkles a tshirt, tank top or polo shirt. Overall from what I am seeing, the Icon is a beautiful ship which may end up making Celebrity redundant! Kudos RCL.
The yellow is not necessarily bad, just gives us some anxiety. 😬 We know it’s polarizing l, but had to share our honest thoughts as it’s quite striking. 😅
Celebrity redundant? Celebrity ships have a very different vibe than RCCL. No amusement park atmosphere, no ice skating, no zip Lines, no rock climbing walls, no water slides or flow riders.
Overall I love the cabin, especially the bathroom. I'll probably put sock, t-shirts, light items in the baskets. I also love the tech similar to the Celebrity Edge class to control the room
With my first cruise coming up in about 1.5 years, how do the king beds that can split into 2 twins feels? Will be our first time experience that kind of bed and my girlfriend and I tend to sleep in the center of the bed. Does Royal offer a mattress topper?
😊 Love Yellow 😊 I personally love bright cheerful colors. I want the traditional balcony. Not a fan of their new inside balcony with the drop down window. Next new ship hope they go back to the traditional open balcony for me. Enjoy. Cheer up with the beautiful yellow. 😊
Thanks for the tour. One thing I am glad about watching your review, is you are honest.. I dont like yellow either btw, a soothing blue would have been better.
@@BostonHeather Blue is so overused in the current new generation of ships. I'm glad they went with something other than blue. Blue is a cool color. Colors are subjective and personal. Yellow is either something someone likes or not, not necessarily a positive or negative or a good or bad as an accent color.
I don’t think caution when I see yellow, I think happy summer… so that’s not bad in my opinion. And I never understood why they need safes in every room.. I never use a safe.. I keep my valuables in a bag in the closet.. I would hope we could trust the employees cleaning our rooms not to go through our stuff.. I haven’t had any issues yet.. I just know I would forget the stuff in the safe that’s why I don’t use it lol
We always use the safe! The chance of your safe being burglarized on a cruise ship seem less than a hotel safe on land. Not as easy to get away with a crime on a cruise ship vs. being in a hotel where people come and go in and out of the building. At least, I hope that’s the case.
Hi guys, love the channel. The yellow comment seems silly, if caution is the message you get from the pops of yellow then Virgin would be a stop/no go.
@glendachiaramonte7905 we looked it up and found that Yellow provides both Good and Bad emotions for people… From Happiness and Excitement to Caution or Anxiety. We definitely felt the Caution and Anxiety feelings as well as excitement… so it will definitely affect people in different ways. We are happy to hear it only affects you positively! 🥳
Hey Jordan & Jared. Love this shower with the seat. Was on the Oasis in August and the bathroom especially the shower was small. Even smaller on MSc Seascape Thanksgiving week. Extended balcony great. I see what you mean. Would be better if the baskets were enclosed or on a track. See what you’re saying about the safe protruding into the closet. Thanks so much. Great insight.
We always bring along 4 magnetic hooks that can hold up to 100 lbs. Good for jackets and purses. Have 3 lighter magnets for lighter items. Magnetic clip are also good for organizing papers on the wall.
Got one coming up on Icon in a room like this. More concerned with how tiny the bathroom seems. I don't hang up very much, but I love the baskets, lol! Thank you for showing this room. Now I can be more prepared when packing! I'm with you on the yellow! 😅
The bathroom is pretty standard size for Mainstream cruise lines (maybe a tad bigger) but definitely smaller than some Premium or Luxory Cruise Lines. ☺️
@JJCruise I guess lol I've only been on one other cruise ever. It was a inside cabin on Carnival Magic and it just seems like it had more space. Not the room, the room was TINY, lol, but the bathroom I thought was decent size. It is probably worth the trade for more space in the actual room. I haven't cruised enough to know. 🤷♀️
Okay, I thought it was just me that absolutely hated the yellow. It just didn’t feel cozy and relaxing to me. I do love the bathroom though, you’re so right about the water being contained better
I wonder if the baskets were an afterthought, maybe they didn't really think that part out. I saw another vlog in which the baskets seemed to make a lot of noise dragging them in an out. lolThanks for rolling out this content fast. Hope you're having fun.😘
About the "high tech" in the cabin, that's all temporary. It's high tech for now. In 7 years, not so much. Maybe sooner. The design of the cabin is similar to others with the lighter colors and illuminated mirrors. Bathroom is large for a stateroom. The yellow accents are fine to me, it's a warm color. It looks like the chair came out of the Celebrity Beyond's Tuscan restaurant. But about the beige and light gray kick that interior designers are on now, in times these colors will show a lot of wear and tear and the beige cloth couch is likely to show stains. Revisit this ship in a few years and we'll see how the spaces hold up. The baskets? I guess they can be removed and stored somewhere but making them easy to remove seems a positive to me. The room isn't overly light and the balcony is a good size so it overall does the job.
Cabin looks nice but I agree about bright yellow. It’s subconsciously agitating/energizing. That’s why most airlines, except spirit!, have subdued cabins. I like the size and especially the sofa (along with that fab shower). I’m disappointed my Princess Discovery cruise, new ship, has no sofa in a balcony cabin as well as, gasp, a shower curtain
Aww you should have said hi! We love meeting people! We had two good friends of ours so we were definitely showing them the ropes of their first Royal Caribbean Cruise! ☺️
Thanks for the video.. I cannot imagine 4 people in that stateroom for 6 days.. do not feel there is enough storage for clothing and etc. Bathroom is very small and the shelf next to the toliet can easily fall into the toliet. Where do people hang their towels in the bathroom?
Never like towels kept in the shower - unless it’s a really big shower. Would rather have them on a bar outside the shower. The hooks behind the door are good for hanging your bathrobes and a damp bathing suit. The lack of a place and a nearby outlet for a Cpap machine is poor planning. I also prefer nightstands with drawers instead of small open shelves that can hold very little. Sometimes I wonder who designs and who signs off on the cabin design.
Thank you for the video. The color scheme for this cabin is not very soothing or screaming ah yes I'm in vacation.. it gives very contemporary modern vibes vs luxury when I think about icon. The bins look very cheap as well
They truly are our two thoughts and we were right on baskets as they are noisy when removing and putting them back (no slow close like the toilets have) 😅 As for the color yellow, we know it’s polarizing but have had plenty of others say the same thing for them staying on the ship. It’s obviously not a horrible thing, but something we do not like in the staterooms as it causes this anxious feeling we’ve never had in any prior cabin. 😬
be glad to be on it.....i do not see how royal thinks the average cruisers will ever be able to afford this ship. i just booked on the jubille for me and my wife in a balcony room for $3400 total for both but i checked for icon and it was over $4000 per person for same type of room makeing it well over $8000 for same length cruise and same type room. icon is only for the rich
We are so happy to be on her! Pricing is Dynamic so the prices are only this high due to the amount of cabins currently being sold. What’s nice is that pricing overtime should lower when demand lowers (such as when Star of the Seas comes out) so never say never 😉
OMG so big deal the color the basket and where thy put the fucking safe lol if you bring to much thing in your suitcase that is your problem hahahahaha
