I'll argue privately with fellow democrats, but I try not to do it in public. 1) It's exhausting to disagree with everyone when you don't enjoy drama. 2) I don't want to give any ammunition to the other party. However the sad truth is that by supporting neither you end up helping the republicans far far more than the democrats (low voter turnout tends to result in right wing parties winning more). The two party system basically boils down to voting against the party you dislike the most. I wish democrats were more progressive than they are, but I despise the republicans and everything they stand for. Therefore it is in my best interests to vote democrat. If dems win more and more then we can start to have more nuanced discussions of which direction do we want the party to go. For the time being preventing republicans from having power has to be the main focus sadly

I agree that we should have conversations. Its really difficult to have those because the moment you disagree, you are called "ist", "phobe" or have an "ism". Its also really difficult to have conversations with people who think you need deprogrammed and are hurling insults at your side. The left have owned the media for 4+ years, and because we have such a biased media, every time you turn on the TV, its "Trump is this awful evil xenophobic man who destroyed this country". @@jkim1241 What election laws? I'm genuinely interested in what was changed. There was more mail-in voting than usual, but that practice has been legal for over 50+ years and is actually less susceptible to fraud than in-person voting.

@@MrRapmaster19 Youre mistaking mail in voting for absentee voting I believe. They are very different processes. Mass mail in voting has never been done in this country until recently. Absentee voting requires someone to actually request a ballot from the state, you would have to provide a copy of your ID with the filled out form and put it into a sealed envelope to mail back out. This election was the first time that ballots were sent out to everyone on the voter registration without any request necessary or proof of identification necessary and only a signature match is used.

@@jkim1241 It was still legal, just never used, as you said, in mass numbers. You're also right in that absentee ballots are not the same thing. I do believe ID copy would be good for the future of mail-in voting like how it is for absentee ballots, but I guess the argument can be made that it was given outstanding and unprecedented circumstances more than anything. Mass voter fraud, however, was not found in the end outside of like three instances, all of which Trump voters and none of which involving mail-in ballots. If Trump wanted to pursue legal action to bar it, his team probably assumed there is no way in hell they were gonna get what they wanted, or they feared it would look like a blatant form of voter suppression. If we really want to encourage participation by all Americans and limit mail-in voting as some Trumpists, whether evidenced or not, want, Election Day needs to become a federal work holiday and week-long early voting should become a norm. The fact that every civilized nation in the world except for the US has a holiday is disgraceful.
