We didn't do much today apart from going to eat some amazing Mexican food and then going to the store... twice, although I did introduce Tasha to the Pacific miniseries on Netflix and she lovedddd it!
The temperatures were colder than we have ever experienced and definitely did not expect it from Texas but we still had a great day!
Thank you all for being here and your continued support. I can't wait to share more with you!

Usually, side roads, bridges, and overpasses are the worst to drive on. Actually, highways (that are not elevated) that are well traveled, sanded are much better. I am in rural NW Oklahoma and its a bit more hilly here. I got trapped on a hilly street. Couldn't get back up either direction. A nice young man with a Dodge diesel 4x4 dually truck towed me back up the hill. I was sooo grateful to him!!!

As a former Minnesotan for many decades, recommend picking up a sturdy window scraper. Majes quick work of clearing the windshield. Most likely available almost anywhere this time of year (gas stations, Walmart, Target, etc). You can also get ones which have a squeegee. Some have a handle for someone who might have issues reaching the entire surface. (Avoid using credit cards.)

Lived in northern Michigan, my whole life and I’ve never used a credit card or heard of anyone using a credit card to remove ice.. 🤦‍♂️🤯 very stupid, and out of everything I could think of that would be the last thing.. 😂

@@bmorg5190 Have seen countless people use a cc. Perhaps someone who thought they'd brave the wintry conditions in lightweight windbreaker and tennis shoes. (Or caught by surprise when weather turned). Trying to clear the windows with the card, slipping and sliding around the car in the improper footwear, slapping opposite upper arm with the free hand while hunching up their shoulders around their neck...complaining about the cold. Gee! (Depending on how bad, the wipers might also be frozen to the windshield.) Many times the doors on my Honda couldn't be opened when the car was coated in ice. Could always get in via the trunk, which had latch to release rear seat. But crawling in, and maneuvering into front seat, while in layers of winter outerwear, boots, etc was quite the challenge. Ahhh, the memories.

I’m from Michigan and I lived in Houston for a year. In Michigan I have no problem driving in a white out blizzard if I have to, but in Texas I would avoid driving if there’s any snow. They have no clue how to drive in the snow.

I'm in Houston and, as most know, we don't get snow hardly ever so we just don't have the skills or the tools. It's just best to stay home the few days we get ice and/or a sprinkling of snow. BTW, I've been to Michigan once (upper area) and LOVED it. Such a beautiful state. I wish I could live there in the summer but the winters...nope. I couldn't do it. Blood is too thin! ;-)

@@projectkj7643 lol, I hear ya. I loved Texas it’s definitely a great state. I feel blessed to have been born and raised in Michigan though. When I was a kid (in the 80’s) we would have like two or three feet of snow for months, but this winter we really haven’t had any snow until this storm hit us the other day……then we got to like -20 with the wind chill and 9” of snow in one night, lol. The U.P. is really beautiful but the winters up there are a bit too brutal for me too.

That’s funny.. I’m from Michigan as well and know exactly what you’re talking about.. usually when they hear this, they will counter with saying that we can’t handle the heat/humidity down there, but we can.. most of them don’t even understand how hot and humid it could get in Michigan/northern USA during summer..

You have a lifetime to experience your new life. If it's not an emergency it's not worth driving on ice. Sit at home and enjoy a warm blanket and binge watch your favorite show. Contrary to some of the posts here, Texans are not experts driving on ice!

As a born and bred Southerner I highly recommend that you stay off the roads in icy weather! Why? We don't know what the hell we are doing! We're dangerous and we are damn proud of it, lol! We smart Southerners go to the liquor store and the grocery before inclement weather and leave the driving to you Yankees during. I'm enjoying your channel immensely! Cheers from North Carolina

The GREAT thing about Texas is the cold doesn't stick around. Temperatures will rebound nicely after cold fronts and be back up in the 50's and 60's soon. When I lived in Dallas, we hit the 90's 2 times in February. You need to start learning Fahrenheit now...LOL Just a heads up Mikey and please take this car advice. The sun and heat take a terrible TOLL on car batteries. Every decent mechanic will tell you this. You get 5 years on car batteries in many places but NOT TEXAS. You will get 2 or 2 1/2 years there. Have a mechanic TEST your car battery and see where you stand BEFORE the summer heat comes. March or April get it tested.

I live in Indianapolis and it got as cold as -30 with windchill and today the high temperature was 27. I’m 43 and have been driving since I was 16 and you will always see people driving on the ice and snow like they’re invincible. Just stay in the slow (right lane) and drive as you’re comfortable they will go around. If you come across a lot of ice or slow traffic it’s not uncommon to turn on your emergency flashers (hazard lights) to warn those behind u. Be safe and stay warm give it a few days or hours and the weather will change. 😅

The state of Texas checked the price of winter trucks, salt etc and decided to say “screw it, close the state and save the cash” so when anything more than as n 1/4 inch of snow fall. They shut it down. Usually a day or 3 a year tops. Been a bit harsher last couple years. But the theory holds.

When the roads are bad, rain or snow, you need to remember to slow down. Many people think, because they have 4 wheel drive, they can still do the speed limit. No, slow down, leave really early, don't rush and you will get there in one piece.

Especially since they don’t salt or shovel the damn roads.. my drive all around Michigan for a living and the snowstorm we had last Friday was the first decent one of the year thank God but not one city used their snow plows, and not one city used their salt.. everything is ice now. I'm sorry but I am kind of chuckling at Texans dying in the cold . . doesn't happen very often there and obviously not well equipped . . . laughing at the "water" run smh! You know in the US you can drink out of the faucet . . our water is clean -- lol. I drink the filtered water from my fridge - hate buying the filters but water is good and COLD!
