Jim takes our 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor P71 on a road trip to the European mainland, to seek out cheap E85 fuel. He meets up with fellow Panther Platform owners including @Kerleem and the boys head to Dam Square in the centre of Amsterdam to become the Netherlands' newest tourist attraction for an afternoon. Then the Police came...

"You can totally do this". We don't give tickets for driving in a walking zones here, there's more money to be made in selling wipers to tourists.

They are so iconic here. They are the epiphany of US movie and TV culture as there is barely a show that didn't feature them

Id never think in a million years and out of all vehicles the panther platform would be imported into other countries im glad people in other countries get to see something like this. As an American and a vic owner myself thank you for showing the people of Amsterdam an American icon. Also 17 euro for a single wiper blade is insane i can buy 2 wipers from Bosch or Rainx for 27 euros here in the states at any autopart store.

Good thing is to buy them from southern states where they don`t salt the roads.Crown Vic`s do have a pretty nice ride for a cheaper car, they`re like sitting on your livingroom couch.

@@alsodriven I live in Southern California. Though the Yukon was first purchased by my step-father in Texas…it seemed a lot of the General Motors cars during that period were “Flex-Fuel,” but I think most of the folks who used E85 were in the mid-west. My stepfather never used E85 in it (though it was available in Texas).

As I recall the Crown Vic and such were highly utilized because of the unibody design. Though there was also one amusing sidenote about the crown vic fleets: They all tended to use the SAME KEY

Thanks for the video. I'm sure by now, you have figured out the / on the fuel cap in the U.S. means E85 or Gasoline. Your Crown Vic will run on both, or a combination of the two without skipping a beat. Believe it or not, in some parts of the U.S. you can still get pure Gasoline in it's finest form.

You can run regular 87 octane in it. You don’t have to just run E85. It can run on E 85 but you can definitely run regular gas. If this is covered later in the video I apologize lol

Ethanol is not profitable without subsidies and actually ends up being a net loss environmentally even with the subsidy as you have to use diesel to grow, harvest and transport to the plant (distillery?), and station. Great for racing and just making power especially when paired with forced induction and I'm all for it. Not so great for general transportation use.
@alsodriven
@alsodriven Год назад
But you could say the same about EVs But at the same time EVs lower local emissions so it's a bit of a win
@weaselduke
@weaselduke Год назад
@@alsodriven I agree, it lowers the emissions where people are rich enough to afford an ev (and mostly in cities where there is no natural environment to protect) and ruins the environment where they dig up the materials to make the battery, populated by poor people and pristine wilderness. Maybe they should be testing out new technology on a large scale where it will make the most impact like container and cruise ships instead of forcing the development costs on consumers.
@alsodriven
@alsodriven Год назад
@@weaselduke we disagree that everyone in cities can afford 50k for a new EV

Not being familiar with Euros, 17 is about $18. That would buy you two wipers here in Texas. I found we went to England and Scotland, we presented ourselves as "Texans" not Americans and for some reason were received better. Go figure.
@alsodriven
@alsodriven Год назад
Yeah that's why Jim was so frustrated, it would be a similar price for 2 in England at Euro Car Parts
@jkk244

So while E85 may pollute less, it’s shite for fuel economy - it’s about 25% less fuel efficient compared to gasoline. No free lunch.
