I’ve wrapped my i8 a couple times with vivid. Didn’t know there was different levels of difficulty in the brands. Vivid is thick and tough to install solo. After watching your video, I tried Avery. That shit was SOOOO EASY compared to vivid. I’ve learned it’s kinda best to warm vivid wrap up a tiny bit to allow it to glass better. But still, that’d kinda hard to do alone. I think vivid would be easy with a partner.
I need to find a vinyl that is extremely sticky! Or at least much stickier than VVivid....I bought the Vvivid vinyl with 1 inch width from Amazon and to use it by placing strips of it on my wheels. I put it on, used a heat gun since the outside air temp was about 5o degrees and went inside. Come out an hour later and some of the strips were just hanging there and flopping in the wind! WTF? Even after using a heat gun! How frustrating this is! And yes I cleaned them with soapy water, dried them and then used alcohol to make sure they were ready for vinyl.....ALSO, it seems there was a cap sheet/protective layer still attached to the vinyl.....surely this would not cause the film to stick good right?
Vvivid is really not the best brand and wrapping wheels is tough because they are always in contact of the ground. Soap will be too slippery for the vinyl to stick. So you would be better off using the 99% alcohol I’d suggest either a 3m or Avery It’s very easy to work and the stick is good Most gloss and colour changing films these days will come with a protective cap so during installation and shipping it doesn’t get damaged
