I’ve been watching for years and it’s sad to see that they’ve completely lost their identity and is in the process of becoming a shell of what donut is truly supposed to be. It feels as though they’re looking down on the viewer acting “business as usual” while refusing to treat the audience as equals and address the changes happening

eh... BigTime already has the Donut method and playbook in just 3 videos. one garage video doing work on a car... one "we bought a thing" video.. and one "remember these oldies" video.. it's the same format at a slower pace.
Science garage, gt86 with ferrari(video) engine, money pit, high low, up to speed, and much more. They had so much personality. Now it's just sad to see.
Sad to see a great channel go down. Nothing against the hosts. Justin, Nolan and James are still worth watching. Unfortunately, the vibe is gone as a whole.

@KeeeKeeedemon long story short that when Donut sold to a bigger company, it make it much harder for the boys to get the owners to approve of any of the cool fun car stuff that this channel was built on, and instead prioritizing brand deals and gimmicky "tik tok esque" content.
The big issue between this video and other "Watch us do cheap shit because we need to fund the other videos" videos is it feels like they want us to take these seriously...and then mess up the product and blame the product. Also no word on when an "actual car" video will come out. Jimmy is cool, new guy is new, but the chemistry isn't there and the script feels written for someone else. I had just gotten into Donut over the last year or so and I apparently caught the rollercoaster into the pit.
F no, jimmy is the worst guy i've seen on donut, literally has nothing about him that relates to donut, can't work on cars, isn't funny, doesn't seem like a good driver either.

@@danman5741 or even if they put more than 2 bolts through the base into the bed. hell, the hammock/chair hanger held strong, it was the homemade "bumper" on low truck that bent.
@@jossege it was also an adjustable boom. They purposely let the tire hit the car, they could have extended it to not smack the side of the car and let the lift do the work.
The new guy isn't terrible, and everybody loves Jimmy, but the concept and execution of the video is exactly the issue with Donut lately. Recurrent: nobody is asking for this.
I like the Cheap Stuff videos and they've been doing them for a while. Just because you're not asking for them doesn't mean nobody likes them. Your opinions don't make up the entirety of what should be on RU-vid.

For pickups, especially with a short boom arm they are usually mounted off to the side so you can even reach stuff and not smash it into your bed sides.

I was going to say, new host or not, the production quality and editing of this video seemed way down from their usual. It felt like someone's half ass attempt to imitate Donut's style, rather than Donut, themselves. Makes me think more people behind the camera left, too.

I told my younger brother Donut was dead, and he replied with “that shit been dead” This is genuinely sad. We bonded over this channel almost exclusively, and it feels so ripped away from me.
This is what i thought too. The torque on there is a lot for sure. Many offroad bumpers are designed for off-road, not for towing (or certified for). I think this may be the case. Still wouldn't buy the product, but that failure was not due to the cheap product.
My thoughts exactly, the product has great reviews on Amazon, isn’t even that cheap, and I would totally trust it on any real hitch. This isn’t a review, this is corporate clickbait.
Where is the yellow bar so I know how far to skip the ads? My favorite thing about donut and what made me respect them as a company was the fact they knew the ads ruined the video and gave you the opportunity to skip it without missing any of the actual video.
Skip ahead until u get to the point where the video start playing again, if u go too far tap the screen a couple times on the left to go back……oh no u have to pay attention when skipping now, what ever will u do?!

Here’s how I’d put it. The hosts are great, the editing is always incredible, but it’s missing the soul. I mean that in the sense that there doesn’t seem to be a purpose or genuine drive to videos like these. It’s like they are more made for the views to benefit a corporate entity than out of the passion of a group of people. That’s what made the money pit Miata or the Z’s so great. You could tell the hosts were genuinely attached and passionate about what they were doing. It felt personable.
@@Bulju it’s not a matter of if they’ve been there forever. The chemistry just doesn’t feel the same and they had to have known this would cause a backlash whether or not he has been there for a long time or not. The similarities to James is a little too much to ignore especially knowing that the community has been very awful about this. Some things are just tone deaf decisions.
I came looking for this exactly. This is where Justin or someone who knows about trucks and has real Donut presence is needed. I like Jimothy but these aren't his types of videos.
Seriously, they said don't buy it while looking directly at that flimsy bumper on the truck that caved in. A class 3 hitch can handle 500 lbs tongue weight, so this hammock should have been the failure point.
What were these two doing? The tent wasn't bad, the crane extends to miss the quarter panel, and why would you not add a footing plate if you were bolting it to the sheet metal. I was waiting for the 3rd stooge to show up.
THIS! So many comments about host changes etc, and I'm not arguing with any of that, but at least make an effort with what you have! The "use" of these products is infomercial level incompetent.

Jimmy does not deserve the hate he's getting. Started as a producer and got thrown into a main host role and is doing his best to keep Donut going. Not his fault the corporate owners sucked the soul out of the channel.

How are you gonna install the tire table correctly and say it's good but do a crap job installing the hammock and crane and say they suck I think this whole video is a case of user error
