Love the information. We own a 2018 Newmar 35ft DP. With a 360hp. Bought it used in 2019. We love the coach. No issues crossing the Rockies towing 4 on the ground. Maintenance is a bit expensive but was expected.

Recently picked up a 2005 Tiffin Allegro Bus 40QDP and we love it. It definitely needs some A/V updates (which are in progress), changing out halogen lighting to LED is required. Installing a Safe-T-Plus also. This coach was always stored indoors and is pristine. 8100 miles on the clock. All fluid analysis came back great. Maiden voyage was completed last week and we’re in love.

We agree with you guys. Becky and I have a 2017 Canyon Star with 17.5k miles, our first MH, that we ordered from NIRVC Atlanta that has been a great coach with only minor issues. 2022 was going to be our trade up year but after covid, supply chain issues, quality problems, massive price increases, etc. etc. We will now zero in on slightly used and loved 2019 Dutch Stars. We will be waiting until 2023 to make a purchase. Safe travels and keep up the good work.

I bought my BayStar used (2013 / floor plan 2901) and it suits us perfect. I have had some issues but resolved many of them ourselves. Just recently replaced slide rollers on living room slide, not a difficult job but was happy to do it ourselves. I have had 3 MH, all used and have done well with them. Great video and always great to hear your experiences and trust your suggestions, Thank You!!!

Bought a 2021 Fleetwood bounder 36F with ford V8 Godzilla chassis in Dec 2020. Zero problems with the engine, 10K+ miles, flat towing a Jeep. Had a few house issues, which were fixed reasonably quickly. Biggest problem was the Sony entertainment center which they eventually replaced under warranty and a few other electronics issues. Added liquid springs front and back and it made a huge difference in sway plus it goes lower than before when parked so we don't have to use wood blocks under the leveling jacks nearly as often. Came with truma on demand hot water heater, which we love. It's our favorite of all the RVs we've seen with 2 full baths and sleeping for 6 adults and 4 kids, combo washer dryer, etc. Love the layout and massive storage. We have thoroughly enjoyed it so far!

Hey guys great video, we have a 2022 Newmar DS 4369 and love it. Not only does Newmar build a Great RV there Service center at the mother ship is over the top. I also think what needs to be added to your over view of Newmar RV’s is where you buy your RV and if they Stand behind what there sell. We were very luck to be induced to NIRVC and team during our RV search and let me say WOW what a great experience. We could not be happier with both organizations..

We have a diesel 36ft 1990 Country Coach with ninety-six thousand miles on him. He is beautiful and is built like a tank! He glides down the highway and it's wonderful to drive. We have no slide-outs but plenty of room for the two of us. We have solid oak cabinets throughout the bus and hardwood floors in the kitchen with a stainless steel refrigerator. Our bathroom has ceramic tile with a spacious shower. Our bedroom is comfortable with unique lightening. We have some work to do on him this winter but no big issues. Enjoy your RU-vid Channel and all your great information that you share with all of us. Thank you and you both are the best!! Happy Camping!! Laurie

Yes I done a lot of research on motor homes mostly DP and I have to say that Newmar always showed up being the one of the top brands in quality and workman ship We always wanted to drive across Canada and after buying a 2004 Newmar mountain aire in 2019 we did the complete trip from Newfoundland to Yellowknife back down to BC and all the way back to Newfoundland all this driving without an issue and have been using it all over Newfoundland since just add fuel and hit the open road. Great product for sure

That's pretty cool I've been looking at the exact same model. I'm a little bit fearful of gas motors and built to break American mechanical issues. I'm happy to know that model has been reliable. The mountain Air is one of the better ones by newmar correct?

Hi guys - we have the 2019 Tiffin Class A Open Road 36LA gas motorhome. We have had minimal issues with our house and so far nothing with the For F10. We are full time RVers for almost 4 years have around 38,000 miles. Yes we would buy Tiffin again. The customer service agents have been wonderful when we have had any questions, can’t say enough on how helpful they are. We’ve done some upgrades, but not the Liquid Springs. Sounds like we need to take a test drive 😄. Enjoyed your candid review of your experiences. Safe travels 😊❤️🇺🇸

Have a 2022 Bay Star 3609. Ordered it with Truma, egress door, washer/dryer, bunk over cockpit, residential refrigerator. Very pleased with it. Few minor adjustments like Fantastic fan lids raising arm mount breaking being the worst. Newmar sent new lids and dealer replaced. Did upgrade chassis suspension, steering stabilizer, Koni shocks, rear Trac bar, noticeable difference. Overall pleased with 1400 miles and @ 40 days camping.

Wow, I didn't know Winnebago brought out Newmar. Well thought out review of your decision if you will purchase another Newmar coach. By the way, your Nellie is still looking mighty lovely. 💖💝❤️😊 And your so right about the rug in slide floors. Annoying! You cannot vacuum those areas and rugs have odors when damp. Sorry to hear that you had to repair some issues with her. That is pretty expensive. Lucky you saved enough funds for those repairs. I recall some of them. All the best. We baught a 2023 Thor with a Ford ingine it has been a total Lemon. We put it in the RV shop. We had a total of 42 problems. The Ford did really good on the trip to Mississippi from South Carolina. We are hoping that Thor will take the whole RV back. I glad both of you he’d better luck than we did. We are now looking for a better constructed RV. We need a second bedroom and that is not easy to find . Enjoyed your video.

The head units on all RV’s are “cheap”. We had the Sony one on ours and we just replaced it, with zero regrets. I totally agree on the carpets, just not acceptable on a 2019 or newer coach. Also the liquid springs, should be on every F53 chassis used on an RV. For just safety reasons alone! Great video again.

Thank you for the revue of “Nellie” as I truly enjoyed hearing about the good, the bad and the ugly. I have owned four RV’s which have all been trailers or 5th wheels manufactured by Jayco, and Keystone. My favorite Class A RV was the Dutch Star by Newmarket except for the cost. Love the layouts and the finish of the units but the cost was just too great. I also liked the Thor Class C Quantum PD31 which they have discontinued. Now like you have said, I am hearing horror stories about all manufacturers and the issues that people are having. With the newer units as my RV presently is a 2013 Keystone Montana 5th wheel which I have only had minimal issues with and they were covered under the warranty. Other than that, the unit has been great and have put a lot of miles on it. Now I would buy a Class A , Class C or possibly Class B except everything I like is too expensive.

We’re on our 4th motor home, second Monaco. We bought a 2008 Monaco Camelot 42pdq five years ago after looking at many brands. One thing that sold us on Monaco, particularly a pre-def unit, was me calling four of the top rated aftermarket RV “warranty” companies and asking them “Which manufacturer and model RV have you had the least amount of claims on?” Monaco, Newmar and Tiffin all about even with substantially less repair claims than other companies.

@Richard, We are on our first home-built ExpeditionVehicle. Nearly two decades full-time live-aboard. . Like you, we resist the Exhaust Fluid debacle. Fact is, we resist computers... our 1996 Ford CF8000 with Cummins 505ci/8.3-liters is mechanical. No fragile gizmos and gadgets. . For sharts and giggles, we read RecreateVehicle forums such as IRV2. Apparently, the latest fad is Exhaust Fluid failures, often on the way home from the dealer. The rig is towed back, parked in the weeds at the back fence, and waits for non-existent parts.

We have a 2013 Thor Windsport 33A gas coach. Bought last year that was garaged stored and 6k miles. We launched full time. Great fit and finish, sturdy and the only main issue was our leveler pump seal started leaking couple months ago. Extended warranty covered the new pump and reservoir, with labor was $3200. We are currently in Texas to install our Liquid Springs next week. We are excited to say 🤗. We contacted Wayne on your recommendation as well as other reviews with the system. We did pros and Cons on diesel pushers and newer gas models, financially this was the best option. We love this unit, floor plan and build quality. So the best option for us since we are going to keep it and use it. Thanks again 🤙

Agree with your opinions about Newmar, we draw our opinions based on experience. We have a 2020 4369 Dutch Star and we love it. Since we purchased ours as a model year leftover in December of that year, we have been shocked at the price increases on newer models. We would most likely not be in the market for a newer model at current prices and consider ourselves fortunate to have bought when we did. We plan to keep up with maintenance so that it lasts.

We have a 2020 Newmar BayStar 3626 and we love it. All of my RV service has been at the factory. The BayStar is our 3rd gas Class A and I found out quickly that you never go wrong returning to the manufacturer to repair any items. My only "complaint" is with Ford. Attempting to find Ford dealers willing to work on RV's is getting very difficult in the Northern Virginia/DC area. Many dealers that did work on them in 2020 do not now. The only reoccurring issue is the cab AC. We are taking it in today for the third time to find the problem/leak. I really had to sweet talk the commercial side of the Ford service to look at it. It helped that I also have a Ford truck and get my service there all the time. Wish me luck, 3rd time should be the charm!

Good advice. We just went and looked at a 2024 Newmar. I liked the 3629 model but we did the walk through on your model. We both really appreciated the solid build and how quiet it was inside. After watching your video I might try to fined an older model. I know I don’t want anything from 2020 through 2023 after reading some of the issues from the manufacturer having to put them together so quickly during the COVID ordeal. But a big thank you for sharing your personal review.

Great video. I was doing some Class A MH research and the 3 that kept coming up as good brands was the Newmar, Tiffin and Integra. As far as floor plans the Newmar was my 1st choice. As they say there is no perfect RV. I still can't understand y why not take a best floor plan of each area in the rv from several brands and build. I see some great floor plans to only be disappointed by exposed cabinet hinges, no power theater seats, tv not in a straight viewing position, no pantry. After having several RV of the last 24 years it's hard to find a great rv. I hate spending a few thousand extra to replace new things in an rv.

We agree about the pandemic production. Wouldn't own one, too many supply chain issues. I saw mismatched appliances, on a W/D stack no less. However, our Tiffin had us gun shy due to the model we purchased 2012, so we upgraded? We think to a 2017 Ventana 3436. Had 25k on it and we are on our first extended trip. So far very happy! Also love the Dutch Star 4018 as well as Allegro Bus, but just couldn't justify the reach. Thanks for the honest review. We will be going to The Tampa Show in January after home for the Holidays. Bought a brand new 2022 Newmar Dutch Star last October. After my first trip, Two weeks of ownership, the Girard awning just unreeled open and nothing could make it reel back in. I had to manually push it back up to the top of the RV with a ladder and mulitple ropes. I took it back to the RV dealer which was 2 hours away, and as I was driving the coolant line popped off and lost all my coolant and had to be towed in. The Chassis was a Spartan and the mechanics found the line popped off because the hose clamp was not tightened down. They also found another hose with a loose clamp. It took 3 months to get the Girard awning repaired. Everytime they mailed a new awning, it was damaged or didn't work. Now I am having problems with the electircal system. Everytime I drive the coach the GCFI breakers on all the plug in's on the passanger side goes off. Our dealer replaced the Alternator but did not help. Now I have another leak in the coolant where the line goes into the engine. i have been on 3 trips with this rv , owned it for 9 months and its been in the shop for 4.5 months. I'm not a happy Camper.

We looked at the Baystar a few years ago at Hershey. We decided to go smaller. Way smaller. Like a 21’ Phoenix cruiser or Coach House. To FT in 😳 and people say we are nuts but it’s our road to travel and I’m checking out of the debt living and consumerism. Going for the minimalist lifestyle. The big ones are nice and roomy but we really did some searching and decided to go small and live large. Yes I stole that line from Scott ✌🏼

as many know, Big Blue is a 2019 Bay Star 3414 with the same paint job as Nelli (damn that paint scheme is sweet!) Our first coach was also a Bay Star 2014. The 2014 we bought new off the lot, Big Blue we ordered as Lyn loved the 3414 floor plan that came out in 2018. Since she HAD to have the 3414 floor plan we had to order new since not any used 2018 to be found, and we are SO glad we didn't find a used one as our paint scheme was not available the first year, and as it turns out was only done 2019. And as everyone knows you ALWAYS have some problems with new production coaches no matter the make, model, or price point, and we have had some, thankfully nothing that has taken us off the road. And Newmar has been great in taking care of things, even couple little items after out of warranty . Since I'm an old fart hopefully Big Blue will last as long as I should be driving so we never plan on getting a different one. But personally IF we were going to get a different one it would be something used and most likely another Newmar. But also personally, I would never buy ANY coach 2020-2023 ANY make.

Interesting series of events you have gone through with your Baystar. We had upgraded to a new 2019 Tiffin 32SA ( very similar to Baystar) and had that for 2 years. We dumped a lot of money into the suspension upgrades in 2019 because of how poorly the F53 chassis was (shame on Ford for never really improving it). After our last long trip in the fall of 2021, we decided we had had enough and went and traded in for a 2017 Tiffin RED 33AA DP. This is what we should have bought to start with! Better ride, more room, better MPG, better handling, annual maintenance is not that much more than the 32SA,. The only negative I can come up with is that the 33AA has less stage in the bays than the 32SA had, but has plenty of interior storage in the same footprint of, basically, 35 feet as we did not want to go above that. Oh, and I don't miss the screaming engine that never seems to redline, either pulling grades along the continental divide.

We like our Newmar and it's enduring style, fit and finish, drivability, storage, and quality from top to bottom, front to back. This is our third motorhome, a 2000 38' Dutch Star we bought used in 2003. We like: single-piece roof; two ducted heat pump A/C's; ducted furnace; ISC 8.3 Cummins on a Spartan chassis with airbag suspension all around and independent front suspension; north-south 60x80 bed with full-time access on three sides (no bedroom slide); large shower aft of toilet room, across from lavatory; dinette table and sofa in traffic-side slide; light oak wood which keeps the inside bright; solid-surface counter with cover over range; many handy electric receptacles; leather for sofa, recliner, driver and passenger; dual-pane windows; easy, quiet ride all day; spacious basement storage; 7500 Quiet Diesel. We converted all inside lights to LED, replaced both TV's with LCD, and replaced radio with bluetooth capable. Wish we had: an engine brake for mountains.

You helped us make up our mind, my wife doesn’t want a class A, I was debating between a Holiday Rambler Vacationer 36F (we need the bunk room) and the Nexus Rebel 35R or Wraith 36W with bunks I think. After the confirmation that Ford sucks in RVs as well, it looks like Nexus will be the direction we go. Whatever model we choose, it will have Liquid Spring. The only difference between us is we will go new, at least for our first one. Thank you for all your tips and ride-a-longs. Stay SAFE!

I can't confirm that Ford sucks. Like any production vehicle manufacturer, some units will have issues, but many more won't. From my own experience, I've owned 5 motorhomes on Ford chassis over the last 30 years and only one major issue and zero minor issues in all those years. The one failure was a poor weld on the torque converter which ultimately failed after 6 years. This could have happened with any vehicle and torque converters are often supplied by a Tier 1.

We did look at a used Newmar but when test driving it was all over the road and I mean “scary” all over the road! It also had little strawberry air fresheners in every A/C outlet??? We ended up going with a new Thor A.C.E. F53 chassis with the 7.3 Godzilla engine. So far so good!

I always buy a used RV that is a few years old. Bugs are worked out ahead of time. Sure, being that it's a little older, equipment is getting older. Plus, buying used from an owner, you know more of the history on their maintenance and any issues. Plus no depreciation as you drive it off the dealer lot. Go to the dealer, look around and then shop for used to your options.

I have worked at a Midway RV for 32 years. Most of those years have been in sales. I can tell you that your experiences with the Ford chassis shocked me. I have found the opposite to be true. That chassis has been absolutely bullet proof. Usually if someone wants their best chance of having minimal problems I would point them toward a Bay Star every time. For what it’s worth, we have also seen shockingly little change since the purchase by Winnebago. There has been zero influence on the products. It’s human nature when you have problems with a coach to point at the change in ownership as the reason. If there had never been a change in ownership that customer still would have had those same problems and found some other “reason” for them. Usually when a problem occurs there is a balance of blame between Newmar, vendors, dealer, and even the customer in regard to how it is handled. If we all work together for the hood of the customer, it’s a win.

Absolutely correct. Since the pandemic hit…all RV manufactures have had major issues. I think it’s going to take another 2 to 3 years for things to level out and some of the quality to come back. Seems like RV manufactures have reduced the output of RVs…I am hoping that is in the direction to help with quality control. Also, since the free pandemic money has gone away…less demand for RVs…slows down dealership orders and people ordering. We have a 2018 Open Road 36UA - we love it. We have had some minor issues, all covered by Tiffin. This is also under Tiffin and not under the new ownership - Thor / Rev Group. We are looking at a DutchStar or Ventana…same boat…will probably be used…and not for another 6ish years - our retirement gift from the PD and Military. The 2020 to 2022 models seem to have a lot of horrific issues - that is sad. I did see with the lower demand and the interest rates rising…the discounts have come back. We got 30% off MSRP on our Tiffin from General RV in August of 2018. We will see. Stay safe, safe travels, best of luck with Nelly!

We've been looking at Class Cs lately and would prefer used. We realized we are in a weird timing spot. If we go diesel, we want the newer Mercedes chassis which started in 2021 or if gas, the new Ford V8 and not the V10. But 2021 and newer are the "Covid Coaches" , so not really sure what to do, maybe wait a few more years.

We purchased a 2015 Thor hurricane 34e. It had 5500 miles 5 years ago. Knock on wood we haven't had many issues. We did buy a extended warranty when we bought it which has come in handy for a few big items. Overhead bunk motor and currently the main slide motor. Anybody reading this.....you need to make sure you do regular maintenance on any rv, and you you can do 80% yourself. That will save you money in the long run. As to a Thor hurricane I would buy it again.....maybe not new. Seeing i have seen RU-vid videos where new hurricanes have had issues. If we were to purchase another motor home we would definitely look at something prior to covid. P.s we just completed a 6,000 mile trip out west and everything went well my coach even handeled climbing the continental divide in Colorado.

@Tom, "... my coach even handled the [mountains]..." That is the job of any vehicle of any type. . I've read some stuff on RV build quality. Once the pandemic hit, so many people went to RVs...all of them from pop-ups to diesel pushers...that the manufacturers were just cranking them out as fast as they could. Things got sloppy and that was with everybody. So I've heard that many people who do their research out there are looking for pre-pandemic models. For one, the kinks have been worked out and there were always things that needed to be addressed on RVs, even 3+ years ago. The best rule of thumb though is to have any RV you're interested in purchasing be professionally inspected before you buy it. That includes new models. There will always be something that needs addressed.

@Tom, We delivered RecreateVehicles manufacturer-to-dealer and dealer-to-shows. Some might call us 'industry insiders'. . We would *NEVER* trust a factory RecreateVehicle. One word: * staples into particle-board. Another word: * Holes! In! The! Roof!.
@tomboard1
@tomboard1 Год назад
@@largemarge1603 You'll find that stuff in the lower end RVs but Newmar does not use staples and particle board. That's the stuff you find in Thor and lower end. But if you want to go custom it can be done. Thing is that even for say a Class B..ARV near Cleveland, OH builds them and you're looking at around $400k. You do a Prevost custom job and you're starting at a million. So the nice stuff that's still expensive is made by Newmar and Tiffin.

I have a '21 3408 Baystar and have paint chipping under the slide - small detail but Newmar paint has lost its luster with me. A word of advice - live near your dealer (for future Rv purchasers) The new engine will move the beast well. Issues fixed at Ford were new wires and plugs on 2 cylinders - engine light came one going over the mountains in BC. Going downhill with the new transmission and engine is not too bad. Going uphill is just a question of fuel conservation - but she goes. Being a gasser - toads are limited but we pull a bike so no problemo. I would buy a Newmar again - and like you would search for older RVs with a Cadillac ride and a big motor. Cheers

It makes a lot of sense buying a used motorhome. The brands that you are looking at are amongst the best available. I’m in total agreement that as far as new vehicles are concerned you are looking at problems no matter what they say. I believe you are far better off buying a low mileage built prior to the pandemic. They are starting to appear in most dealerships or on consignment as people have to decide what they can afford going forward. Just one suggestion is that no matter where you buy your motorhome have an independent inspection for peace of mind and if something shows up make sure that it’s fully repaired prior to parting with your money. You may want the work inspected by your individual who carried out the initial inspection. For a few hundred dollars you will have peace of mind beyond any guarantees that accompany your purchase. Safe travels to all 💕💫

We own a Tiffin Open Road gas and wouldn’t recommend it if you’re going to be in hot weather. The insulation is poor and you’re lucky if you can keep it 10 degrees cooler than outside at the high of the day. However, storage is awesome and that’s what keeps us in ours. Ya, almost all motorhomes have horrid headlights. I belong to a huge Newmar owner's forum and I haven't seen that many complaints or repair issues, except one dealership related. Newmar is less likely to make good on out-of-warranty problems after the 2nd or 3rd year than in the past. The biggest issue I have read are supply chain ones, but I have heard complaints about "Substituted" things like water pumps and such. They used what they could get.

After watching Video and hearing you had a Ignition Misfire that was had to diagnose made me comment on a P03__ Misfire Code. Ford first started using Coil on Plug Ignition in 1998. After 24 Years I would assume most shops know how to diagnose these problems. Using OBD Generic Information and Looking through Mode 6 Data under Misfire - Most of the Time it not difficult to determine what cylinder is having a Misfire without logging a specific cylinder code (P0301 for #1 , P0302 for #2 ect...) . Another Great tool is monitor cylinder contribution to help find which cylinder is misfireing. Coils are a Common Concern - Have been for 24 Years. Don't have to replace all 10 at once to fix misfire. Tech Diag Route is Crucial for proper repair. (Hope your fuel Pump Circuit Concern is Repaired !!) Safe Travels.
