As well as having the likes of Paddy, Aspinall and Bisping you should try get Muhammad Mokaev DNA. I know he isn't British but considering he is from the Caucasus mountains with mixture of Turkic blood I think he is going to have a much fascinating research especially with the Kumyks having relations with Russians, Persians and Ottoman empires.

I recently got into my genealogy, always been of interest to me. Weirdly enough my grandad always told me we were “tinkers” and I never believed him. But, rightly so we were hawkers/tinkers and I can trace my family back to 1765 in the same town as me now, Bolton. They moved about between 1765 and now but seem to have always come back to Bolton.

This is fantastic!! What a great podcast i could of listened to it for hours. Its needs to be a stand alone podcast. The research is wonderful but he is a brilliant host and delivers the information like a novel. It blew my mind when he brought up bisping i was literally thinking he is a fighter and sounds just like him. Bravo boys 👏

That was an incredible 100th episode!! 🙌 Danny is AMAZING and speaks to my genealogy-loving heart. I've been doing ancestry research for my family, my husband's family and other family members for 15 years. Like Adam & Josh, I found out that my college roommate and I are distant cousins...we share a French Canadian 9th great-grandfather. Also, very similar to a story Danny told, through DNA, my adopted husband found his biological father, who was a Marine from the South in the late '60s...and spent just 6 weeks in New England working on a local naval base. My other notable finds: one of my husband's ancestors was one of the original founders of New France; another of his relatives was a passenger on the Mayflower; and my brother-in-law's ancestor was one of the original settlers of Virginia. Genealogy is fascinating stuff! Danny definitely needs a podcast...he's a great storyteller!

@@dannymitchellmma Danny, I was seriously considering hiring you for a workup on my family history. Do you do international research? I’m German/American with French/Irish roots. My mom is a big history buff and has done a lot of leg work, she can trace our family back to the Mayflower crossing! But you go waaaaaay back, that would be cool to explore. You and I are probably very distant cousin through William too ☺️ Great job mate, really! That was so well done and your enthusiasm is infectious. thank you very much for the effort you put in to this episode

@@dannymitchellmma thanks again for the response- I would use the Insta you mentioned to get in touch but I don’t have any social media accounts. I spoke to my mother today. We have a tree on one of the sites and her and my brother have done DNA, I would love to do that too. But my mom has traced our family back to the Doomsday book, so she doesn’t really seem interested in more research or thinks it will turn up anything she didn’t discover. I guess it comes down to cost, because it looks like I’m paying 😅 but I’d really want you to have a look because you are so thorough. And we already discovered my grandmother’s lost sister no one knew about until both were in their 70s because they were given up for adoption at infancy - so who knows what else is to discover! I’m just so curious 🧐

Cracking episode for the 100th, congratulations. My Other half spends a lot of time researching our genealogy as we both have very confusing families and have traced both of our families back to the Plantagenets, also coming from a Cornish/Devon pirate family. We have also had our DNA checked and I am 85% English (Devon/Cornwall) 1% Welsh, 12% Scottish, and 2% Viking (Denmark/Sweden). Josh Get Danny signed up and produce a show for him.

I love genealogy, I have traced my Mum's family back to 1834, also visited my great grandfathers grave in Southport. Love it❤Have been doing research for the last five years, and yes it takes up hours.

This was genuinely a great podcast. Really enjoyed it. Not to say I don't enjoy them all. On another note, in terms of guests, I'd love to see Chris from BLOT Outdoors on one of these. Was watching his most recent vid and thinking about how much I'd like to see him be given the opportunity to talk at length and in depth about himself. Then he went and mentioned Adam and called him a legend. Whether he'd be up for it or not, I don't know. Would be great to see though. 🎉

You guys are lucky. I know a lot of my heritage but no photos. I go far back into the medieval times. I wish I could find out more on both my mom and dad's sides... I know there's a lot of royalty and nearly all were warrior people.

Gwrych Castle isn't a real castle, it's a folly. it was built in the Victorian era for a sum of about 11million. Which is a mental amount, it's was built to be a fairytale view of a castle. To be fair it's the best remaining castle in North Wales. It was in a decent state into the 90s, the council moved a load of gypsys in that had been there for years. Saying they was ruining it. Ironically once they was gone, all the locals stripped the place and kids ruined it. Up untill about the mid 2010s you could still get up there and get up the towers. But new owners kept trying to secure it. The final nail was I'm a celeb, now you can't get near it.

Aboriginal Peoples in Canada have a prayer, Mitakuye Oyasin meaning "All my relations." I'm most-likely related to you three as my line is English, Welsh, Swedish and Ojibway.

I found 2 people who were hard to trace. It took me 4 years but solved the reason why they couldn’t be found. 1 was found through dna, the other one through patience and travelling through lots of electoral registers. In both cases, they had changed their names .

l cant believe josh has never heard of Sir Francis Drake playing bowls on Plymouth Hoe when the Spanish Armada was sighted in the English Channel. And he wanted to finish the game before going going out to defeat Spanish fleet in 1588. there is a huge statue of the dude on the hoe up near Smeaton's tower

Glad it was mentioned that relationships are predicted. In my case both of grandfather's are now in doubt after dna results came back but there aren't enough results to come to a definitive conclusion. I'm adopted and some of the family have links to the Grimsby area though largely pre 1900, any family that lived in an area near a port or with mariners in the family could easily find a bit of a surprise after DNA.

Speaking of genealogy, Moran is an Irish surname derived from O'Móráin in Gaeilge meaning big or great. The pronunciation in Ireland is More-in with the accent on the More.

Despite the surname, I am genetically 90% English/Irish. Genealogy became an interest because I wanted to understand where the fiddle I am the current custodian of came from. It's been owned by a family member for over 200 years. No small feat in the US. Gran claimed that a politician of the late 1800's was a relative. Though that seems false, what I did find in my tree would have her rolling in her grave. Two third cousins, twice removed, were sister wives of Brigham Young and their father was a significant participant in the early Mormon church and the exodus to, and founding of, Salt Lake City, Utah. They were the two most noteworthy(notorious?) of his wives too. One being his youngest, and the other the first female to practice plural marriage as a Mormon. She had multiple husband's simultaneously. Life is like a box of chocolates, I reckon.
