Hi guys! My wife and I live in Washington DC and, as we are getting ready to go to Rome & Sicily, we started watching your videos about a moth ago. The unbelievable thing is that I grew up in Uruguay and Brazil, and my wife is from Argentina, so we have been having a blast watching you guys discovering our countries! I don't know if you have time to read every comment, but now that you have arrived to Montevideo, I can't help but to write these words to you, even though much of what I am recommending you have probably already heard... My humble opinion is that you simply CAN'T leave Uruguay without trying the following: 1) La Pasiva is a chain of restaurants and a must-taste: Please have a simple "pancho" (hot dog) with their home-made mustard, it is unique and delicious. And please also get a "fainá de orilla" maybe with a little whiter pepper sprinkled on it. Last thing to try there is an "hungara" which is a sausage the width of a hot dog and so yummy! 2) The must-try food in Uruguay is the "Chivito" which you will never forget, there is a place in Carrasco called "Bar Arocena" which has some delicious chivitos, but I'm sure there are other great places to get them. 3) You enjoyed the sweets in Buenos Aires, please try "bizcochos dulces" and "cuernitos" which you can purchase at any good bakery and are so yummy, also a special treat is a "yo-yo" filled with delicious dulce de leche, also sold at a bakery. 4) Last but not least is el "postre Chajá" which is a Uruguayan invention with merengue and a peach-flavoured center. Also very important: Don't become fans of Peñarol, Nacional is the team to root for ;) Should you run into any issues or problems, please do not hesitate to PM me, I have a dozens of family and friends there, you are not alone!!
Oh wow!!! What a small world. We’re so glad you found our channel and are enjoying our adventures ❤️ and thanks so so much for the recommendations! Sadly we filmed these videos a few weeks ago, so we are gone, but this will be so helpful for next time!! Cheers 🙌🙌🙌
Hi guys! Thanks for the latest trail of amazing Argentinian videos. I've enjoyed them immensely! Are you now traveling full time or just taking extended time off from your "regular" jobs?
So glad you’re enjoying it! Believe it or not, we filmed all our Argentina videos over the weekend or on holidays 😅😅😅 we worked remotely from our airbnb when we weren’t filming! it was a lot, but super fun! This next batch of videos in Uruguay and Brazil was filmed while taking PTO for a week. Somehow we made it all work!!
We are travelling to Buenos Aires in September, then onto Rio de Janeiro. We have managed to book the ferry/bus to Montevideo after watching your video. You both made it look so easy , thank you. Any recommendations on good but reasonable places to stay for the night, and places to eat/ get breakfast ?
That sounds like a fun trip! So glad our video was useful! We stayed at this airbnb and really enjoyed it: www.airbnb.com/rooms/1046547165357192350 As for breakfast spots, the cafe la farmacia was incredible, but you can also try... Escaramuza Café- Fantastic dulce de leche lava cake, lots of desserts -Federacion - sidewalk cafe with good hot chocolate and croissants Cafe Brasilero: Small but historically significant as its the oldest cafe in Montevideo This blog post we wrote on montevideo may also be helpful to you! touristtolocal.com/things-to-do-in-montevideo/
