We tracked an AirTag around the world! 

I literally just bought 4 of them for my trip to Europe in a week . No more lost suitcase for me !

You should have also put a Tile and Smart tag in the same box

This is really cool actually because something like this could be used for real-time package tracking.

A lot of ppl comparing tile to air tags but they always fail to mention to unlock many of tiles features it’s a monthly/yearly subscription the main reason I drop all my tiles and switch to air tags

This confirms that I can see at least what city it's in after I arrive. If there's a fairly recent notification that my suitcase is in a different city than I am, I'm going to be the first in line at the Lost Luggage counter! Thanks for doing this.

The speaker in airtags can be easily removed so could be used to track anyone and an iPhone notification to the guy being tracked is the only thing stopping this. Most would probably think it’s nothing or ignore it. It could be under their car or hidden for ages.

I live in Florida. I bought an airtag and was having issues. So, I exchanged it for another. A few days later Apple called. They were trying to diagnose the issues. I had not removed it from my account. The call was a request for specifics on my issue (my phone would not track it beyond 5 feet). When they called I saw my returned tag was now showing up in an Apple location in California!

You should have sent a tile and the airtag simultaneously!

You might package it with a book and send it across the U.S. at media rate. That's usually surface mail, so it should have some interesting hits along the way-small towns, highways, or whatever.

A lot of ppl are say Airtags and Chipolo are the ones to use. I’ve used tile in my kids back pack and keys..found the keys a day later but the kids book bag was never found via tile. It was finally returned to the school 2 days after by a parent who found it in the playground

One way to improve this test: Have someone at the destination log in with your Apple ID and “locate” the airtag. Instead of just open the box.. maybe ship it to a UPS store or something like that so you need to seek it out.

I wonder if the delivery person got an alert saying an air tag has been following them.

AirTag can also be a great way to always know where your car is. Your car could get stolen but you’d be able to track it or even if you just lost it in the parking lot.

Just FYI blurring put your map like that doesn’t do much. It’s still super easy to figure out where that is. Not in a creepy way just you might want to hide it better in the future.

Anyone else confused as to why at the start of the video the route from L.A to Sydney went over the whole US and then over the African continent then across all of Australia instead of just a route across the pacific 🤣

Interesting. We ship a USPS Flat Rate box from CA to FL at least once a month. Once or twice a year, a package will be held up. USPS then tells us they are 'investigating' the delay. Maybe this solution can help us, help USPS to find a package lost in their system.

Hmmm seems like building a tracking device into a reusable shipping container isn’t a bad idea. First industry that comes to mind is pharmacies where sometimes deliveries of very expensive medications get sent to the wrong place or stolen.

I’ve just purchased a new car, and will be putting it on to a car truck, for transport from NSW to Tasmania in Australia. I’ve given them a time frame for their trip, but will be wondering if they make any side tripes, or even take my new car for a spin. Should be very funny if they do take it for a spin, only to find out they are being tracked.

We’ve sewn one into my daughter’s favourite soft toy, works beautifully and there’s no more running around the house trying to find it at bedtime

Fun video! I did a similar experiment by putting an airtag into a log and seeing how far it would float down the river by my house. My results were far less interesting than yours. What I’ve discovered is that an iPhone or iPad must be near the airtag for some period of time before it pings. This makes sense - you wouldn’t want the network overwhelmed by having dozens of devices pinging when they are just driving or walking by. So in the case of my river trip - it’s not “phoning home” very much - just a couple of pings over 3 days.

Did the Smart Tag not "beep" during its travels while away from its iPhone? That could have alerted the delivery service? Made them suspicious of the box's contents?

Should put a tile in the box with the airtag next time and see how fewer updates the tile gives

I wanted to try something similar, and bagged up an airtag to send to the UK, but had to complete a customs declaration and one of the questions was does the package contain an electronic device with a lithium battery, which it does, so I decided not to send it. Did I do the right thing?

Put the tag on your dog’s collar, it works great as a tracker if your dog gets lost

I think you also try to ship it here in the Philippines to see if it will work here well.

Hello everyone, my husband just got a new car. He is a bit obsessed with it that it might get stolen or something. His birthday is so close and I wanted to buy airtag for him to check time to time car location so he got sleep calmer 😅 this video was really helpful to see how far the tracking range goes. I m just curious though. If car changes city or something could we also see it like it the video? On different sources it say that the max range is 800 feet. Can you share experience and opinions? Many thanks

You should do a test with this versus samsung smart tag vs that one other brand

It’s very easy to open up this device and change the layout making it flatter. Removing the speaker makes this unit easier to hide. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can embed the electronics inside almost anything you like. The battery lasts about a year and by that time you can track anything or anyone from coast to coast to continental travel around the world 🌎 looks like your now in the spyware game Mr. Bond!

This ended up in my hometown of Warragul. Considering it’s a smaller country town.. That’s actually incredible. It also seemed it ended up in Morwell which is where some of my family members live.
