weird how they keep adding them where no one asked for them to be there and when it would be actually useful to have them like in wonder or odyssey they just ignore them completely
I'm sure if the Koopalings were in Mario Bros Wonder people still wouldn't be happy and wanted original boss fights. But now that Bowser Jr is the only boss fight, everyone wants the Koopalings. Weird but understandable
yea i know if the koopalings were in wonder i would’ve Hated them Even More than i Ever Did In New Super Mario Bros and been Even More Frustrated Than Ever because i want more unique bosses back like we got with bowser jr i didn’t mind having him in the game because its been forever since we fought him the koopalings Didn’t Take A Break Until Wonder No Wonder People Hated Them So Much They Were Over Used To Oblivion and Thats Why People Hated Them So Much i don’t care if they had unique designs it doesn’t excuse them taking the spotlight from the other bosses we’ve been missing for over a decade
I think this a good chance for the koopalings to hibernate back from the games for the bit and then where there is a good time for them to return they should return but with new designs and maybe let them reach there full potential by debuting in a 3D game.
The Koopaling hate is a perfect example of the phrase "Be careful what you wish for". Everyone assumed that if the Koopalings were gone Nintendo would be forced to constantly make original bosses in their place, but what we got instead was Bowser Jr. every time or even no boss at all, which is honestly worse. I genuinely believe that Nintendo is afraid to give the Koopalings more character and originality since every interesting iteration of them comes from a studio outside of Nintendo HQ. If they make them too interesting people might start preferring them over Bowser Jr., and since he is Nintendo's new vision of an heir to Bowser since Sunshine the only way to guarentee that that doesn't happen is to keep them as bland as possible. It's sad that there's such selective favoritism within Nintendo's view of the Mario cast that extends far greater than this topic alone, and simply advancing their movesets and counters would fix the Koopaling problem, but this is unfortunately a problem that Nintendo doesn't want to see fixed.
I agree with you on every aspect. We want the koopalings, but always have something that makes them enjoyable and fun to fight, not just lame and boring like in the new smb games.
If the next Paper Mario game had the Koopalings as bosses again, I wouldn’t mind, especially if they were unique, such as Ludwig making copies, which none of them are him, so when you attack them, they poof, and he appears behind you, and strikes you with lightning, or if Larry had amnesia, and helped you get his clown car so you can fly up to Roy’s airship, which is shoot massive Bullet Bills at Toad Town. And seeing them in a 3d Mario game would be VERY cool!
Like I've said on other videos... the Koopalings were never the problem. Their boss fights were, and the fact that they usually don't share the spotlight with any original bosses. When the Koopalings are the main villains... its basically just them, Bowser, and sometimes Jr and/or Kamek. Thing is, this dynamic makes sense to me. Kamek and Jr are Bowser's 2nd in commands, and the Koopalings follow that to me. (They're still Bowser's kids to me, sit down Miyamoto) The issue is that they take up far too many slots that can go to original bosses. The solution? Simple. With 8+ worlds or major areas per Mario game... Have the Koopalings (and/or a mix of Jr, Kamek, Boom Boom, etc to shake it up) be the mini-bosses... but make them fight in some new original way. Give them bigger weapons that change their fighting style, a mech, a creature to ride on, something... And then the main bosses for new games should always be new, or at least some type of not as common Mario enemy character. Feel like everybody wins there. Just requires Nintendo to freaking t r y with Mario bosses again. Pls bro lol.
I fully agree. With the wonder affects the koopalings could be so funny and fun at the same time, I think if they were to come back in a possible Mario wonder sequel, Lemmy should still have his balls and silliness but in a more fun way.
So NOW everyone misses the koopalings this time?! Finally people came to their senses this time since they should be in wonder as DLC! Love the koopalings a lot and i miss them!
It's really funny. Back when Lemmy's Land was still an active Mario fan site, many of the users on there clamored for the return of the Koopalings. The site went dormant around 2012 or so, but I imagine some of those users realize they needed to be careful what they wish for... So, yes, the Koopalings do have potential. They could have worked as fortress bosses instead of the main ones. As for the castle bosses, if they would appear in the castles, then team them up with a second more original boss.
I like the Koopalings a lot. Yeah they're not my favorite Mario characters, but I still enjoy them. My ratings for each Koopaling follows: Larry: 8/10 Morton: 9/10 Wendy: 8/10 Iggy: 8/10 Roy: 10/10 Lemmy: 9/10 Ludwig: 9.5/10
I’ve honestly never hated the Koopalings in my life, so I agree with this video 100%. Super Mario Bros Wonder would’ve been the PERFECT return for them in a while now, it really is a big shame they didn’t 😥. Here’s the order I think they should have been in: Pipe-Rock Plateau- Lemmy Fluff-Puff Peaks- Roy Shining Falls- Larry Sunbaked Desert- Morton Fungi Mines- Iggy Deep Magma Bog- Ludwig Petal Isles- Wendy Wendy should’ve been the Koopaling you have to fight before reaching Castle Bowser. Castle Bowser should’ve been a separate world instead of being a section of the Petal Isles. It would’ve also made sense to get the final Royal Seed after beating Wendy instead of Bowser.
Honestly, people overrate NSMB DS when it comes to its boss roster. Yes, we do get original bosses in the castles, but did everyone forget that we had to fight Bowser Jr consistently in the Towers the entire time? They're basically the 2000s equivalent of Mario Wonders B.J. bosses, except even worse. A proper game would have both original bosses and the Koopalings in either the castles or towers.
I love that just by seeing how pathetic Bowser jr is as a boss made everyone change their minds about the koopalings. I mean to be fair we saw what happens when all the mini bosses are Bowser jr in New super mario bros on the DS.
I never hated the koopalings i always loved them but i have an idea that would fix everything Make the koopalings towet bosses but make em feel as if it was a castle bosses and in the castles have an original boss while jr could participate with his "Brothers" koopalings and be the boss of airship that arent that stupid machine wonder has that would fix all the problem the koopalings have and we have seen the koopalings do more than one trick that in a wonder effect they could have done somthing very cool with it. . . . .i just noticed chain chomp isnt in the game he got replaced by that motor bone thing-
Ironically, despite the Koopalings being at their most sterile during the New Super Mario Bros. games, they got quite a bit of mileage in 3DS and Wii U games. All of them were newly playable in Mario Kart 8 and even popped up as Bowser Jr. skins in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Ultimate. Select Koopalings are playable guests in the Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games. I understand that spinoffs don't count in the context of this video, but it's nice to play as these kids. I don't see myself as a Koopaling hater. Ever since fighting them in Super Mario Advance 2, I've loved these guys. Not even the NSMB games led me away from liking the Koopalings. However, the execution of their battles is what led to fans getting sick of them. That, plus the notion that they "stole" boss ideas from Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam and Paper Mario: Color Splash. I think it would be ideal to see them used in 3D romps and give original moves in their fights.
I don't see much of a problem with them; after all, in the original SMB, the boss battle of every world was the same Bowser, and just either getting past him to the axe, or shooting him with fireballs. The only variation was him throwing hammers in the last three battles, and aside from that, just the obstacles in his lair (low brick blocks, etc). As the first 7 Bowsers were really other enemies in disguise, the Koopalings simply replaced them, so it was still a step up. (I did think the differnet bosses of NSMB were a good idea, though).
Look we never said we did not need them we just need more cool bosses have the koopalings as name mentions and it lets us know they are still around put them in better games that is right just for them like a 3d game
I hate the koopalings because they have boring designs boring boss designs and they are everywhere and honestly I rather only bowser jr because the wonder form he has looks cool and the boss fights aren’t amazing but they aren’t terrible I wish it wasn’t just bowser jr but he’s a little better
Mario games need to have more stories like Bowser Jr's Journey where the characters actually grow and change. Jr's dynamics with the Koopalings were all spot on!
Maybe if or when Nintendo makes a Mario Maker 3, they could include the Koopalings in all styles, maybe even Mario Wonder, so we could see what they'd look like and how they'd act in that game. #BringBackTheKoopalings!
I think alphadream use the koopalings so much better by giving them different attacks, I know they were used in game boy and the remake in 3ds, but they were given so much thought into their personalities and attacks, while it was dull in the Wii
I have a conspiracy theory, Nintendo purposefully made the Wonder boss fights the way they were to make us miss the Koopalings just so we’d be excited to see them in the next Mario game.
I'll say it again. I want them to return. Please make it happen if a new 3D Mario game is coming soon and A Mario movie sequel. I want them in 2 like. I love them so much.
Saying you guys went “overboard” would be a severe understatement. You all went over the skies on the internet to not see these guys again. It’s funny that you say that Nintendo said something then made all the bosses Bowser Jr. … No, you interpreted that in your head. Game devs, especially triple A, don’t listen to everything their community says. Also, what’s wrong with the koopalings having fun with versatile weaponry? like…what? Their “elites” in Bowser’s army, they need artillery to lead and dominate with their army, army with an capital A. I do agree that the wands are kind of just…there in the modern games, because in Mario 3 they had the wands because they stole the wands from the kings in each world (further shown in the remakes). Then in Mario world there were no wands so they (kind-of) got their own moves. In two fight if I’m not mistaken has Morton and Wendy have the wand in hand but never use it lol. I’ll debate that in Mario U they actually had their peak in the moveset department. I love that you say that they didn’t have changed gimmicks in U but then in the same few frames of footage and audio, Iggy uses a new spell that summons the game’s blargg and jumps from WALKING ON THE CEILING! Is that not interesting enough for a historically chaotic character? I have went off on a tangent in the past about being able to repeat previous mechanics and concepts because they can work again or you can give said concept and give it a huge twist. I have said this atleast once and I’ll say it again, The DS fights are only interesting to the majority because they are not the Koopalings or any other “unoriginal” boss. Seriously, Mummipoki for example is a modernized version of Lemmy and Wendy from SMWorld, just gander at the trio of fights and you would then realize they use the same concept but Mummipoki gives it a few tinkers with a projectile, slow movement, and differing heights to make the fight different enough. Also, Roy from Wii, he uses the same concept like the three previous fights but literally flips it upside down, Roy in SMM2 is able to dig underground like Mummipoki, and finally Bowser Jr. swims in the honey arena and comes back up which makes the concept of going to point A where the player can’t go to and going back to point B to where the player can go. It’s almost like you can repeat the same concept in a Boss but give it multiple versions to make each one look interesting and “original” without an over the top observation. I can go on about the other DS fights and how they too use concepts that were used before that game. I also understand overuse too, but just because Wendy jumps in an underwater arena in Wii, that doesn’t make Bowser Jr. actually swimming in an underwater arena in Wonder “unoriginal”. Edit: typos
I’ve always liked the Koopalings better than Bowser Jr. because I always felt they had more personality. Maybe that’s because I watched the cartoons and read the choose-your-own-adventure Mario books back in the day. That said, I do want them to be more than “jump on the head three times.” I also wish they would move away from the wands. In SMB3 those were stolen from various monarchs, which is why they don’t have wands in Super Mario World. I’m not sure why they got the wands back in later incarnations.
I miss the koopa lings like they just got hate because they got repetitive Dosen mean they shouldn’t come they should bring them back but have a different way I fighting them like a rpg for lemmy or a normal fight for Wendy or for Iggy a rouge like #bringbackthekoopalings #bbtk
3:57: I never played Yoshi's Safari, my parents bought the game when it came out, but they didn't realize that they needed the Super Scope accessory for it, so we had the game, but couldn't play it without the Super Scope. All we could do was watch the demos on the title screen.
Been saying it for years, the koopalings are not the source of your problems and simply getting rid of them will not guarantee the return of original boss battles, it'll most likely just result in more bowser jr spam. I've seen people get pissed that theyre in mk8 too. Getting them out of the mario kart roster will not guarantee other characters, it would more than likely just mean yet another variant of mario or peach or something if anything at all. It's the whole "we hate sonic's friends, refuses to elaborate" saga all over again
Honestly, I actually still like the Kooplings. Yes, we could still have more original bosses, but it‘s not always bad seeing the team themselves. It would be good to go on a similar route to the first entry in the “New“ series, with bosses that are rather unique to the game, but can appear in select games later on.
I’ve always loved the Koopalings as characters, but their boss battles… not so much 😂. And I’ve always wanted them in a 3D mainline Mario game so badly!
I’ve always been a fan of the koopalings, the bosses are lacking in variety and that’s definitely a problem, however I can definitely see why Nintendo doesn’t want to go absolutely crazy with boss battles for a 2D Mario game. The DS was definitely interesting having the different bosses but for Nintendo I’m sure that having the koopalings is just easier for them. The bosses are basic yes but Mario boss battles don’t last long at all, in the rpgs Nintendo can go wild with the bosses because they require strategic thinking and can take longer because of that. Anyways I just understand why Nintendo doesn’t want to have these super unique bosses, the bosses are short and that’s what they really want because it gives the player more time to jump and do all kinds of acrobatics Mario is known for.
