We tried Erewhon's Incredibly Expensive Foods *worth it?!* 

I used to think Whole Foods was ridiculously expensive… now Erewhon is on another level!

I love how mama maples was says, "I know these are expensive so I will guess high" and then proceeds to guess about half the actual price on every item! 😆😆❤

Mama maples!!! I have the perfect kale chip routine (salt and vinegar so it is healthy): preheat the oven to 350. Take 1 bundle of kale, rip off the leafy parts from the stem (don’t worry if they aren’t perfect and you get some stem strings) and put in a bowl (they don’t have to be even so do not waste the little tiny ones but maybe rip the big ones in half). Put 1tbsp of olive oil and 1tbsp of white vinegar into the bowl with your leaves. Massage (I prefer to wear gloves) until they are a nice dark green and feel soft. Squeeze them as you dump out the extra liquid (you don’t have to worry about being gentle) Lay them out onto a baking sheet and crinkle with sea salt (just lightly) then put in the oven for 12 min. Flip them/ shuffle them around and put back in the oven for 6 min . Put them in a container and sprinkle with another little dash of salt and shake then let cool. I normally use 3 bunches to make a “full bowl” like a bag of chips because they shrink down so much but when you first lay them out they take up a lot of the sheet

One thing I do appreciate about Erewon is the stuff being sold in jars and kept really fresh. Not only that but the limited use of plastic is really refreshing in the packaging of a lot of the stuff.

The water lily seeds are very common where I'm from and I love them! You can get them plain and roast at home with whatever spices you like. They're called makhana.

Sea moss is a seaweed which explains the sand and salt. But you need to soak it first. For recipe you can look caribbean seamoss drinks. It has been used here for decades. Full of minerals and vitamins and use to to boast energy too.

Macaroons are very easy to make! I make them often, and they are so good. People often get macaroons and macarons mixed up.

We do have the Torre truffle chips in large supermarket and health food store for less than half that price! You guys are great, thank you for your honesty, integrity and great work.

Kale chips are simple, I use a bunch of kale hand pick off the leaves around same size mix in a bowl with a generous amount of oil mix with seasoning of choice I like garlic and onion, preheat oven to 350 and check every 5 minutes til the biggest piece of kale is fully crispy

I bought the truffle chips here in Europe, the netherlands and spain, for like a max of 3 euro lol. And I buy dried mango at Lidl here in the netherlands, it's a bit like Aldi i guess? And its like this, just in a reseable plastic bag and it's also without any sugars and smells amazing! Also like 2 or 3 euro?

5:23 in India, these are called Makhana (muh-khaa-naa) and they’re sold both raw & simple and flavoured & packaged! We toast the raw makhana in some clarified butter and salt to taste. They’re a healthy crunchy delight 🤍 Erewhon has marked up the prices 10x !!! We get them for about a dollar, be it the the flavoured ones or a biiig packet of raw makhana ;)

I'm a big fan of dried mango. I'm a sweet fiend and the dried mango helps when I'm craving things like Haribo. Buying for £2 from the supermarket is good enough though, can't imagine the quality gets THAT much better, to justify that high of a price.

Crispy kale is easy to make at home. Break up the kale, sprinkle with sea salt and put in a hot oven (220 deg C) for about 40 mins. Don’t open the oven door while cooking. It will be crispy. However you probably should eat it the same day or the next day at the latest.

I can buy those Torres chips in most bigger grocery stores in my town in Sweden for half the price, have tried them and tought they were overprized here.

I can report that the Torres truffle chips cost 6.5 CAD here in Denmark, so the 12 CAD is definitely marked up a LOT (I'm obsessed with them)

As someone who can't even be in the room with anyone eating peanuts, I sympathize. I used to not be AS allergic and would sneak a peanut here and there (and regret it immediately) because I thought I was missing out. After 2 pregnancies, my allergy has gotten so much worse! Epipens don’t really expire on the date on the packaging. I’ve heard several doctors say that they are just as effective and safe for about 6 months after the expiration date. Obviously try to get a new epipen when one expires but if there is an emergency, it is still effective for some time! (Obviously do some research or talk to your doctor but I have heard a couple doctors say that it’s safe to use)
