@@janeschwab1682 yes things have greatly improved since then cheers! To be fair there's so many good people and things out there willing to help :) I'll always remember one M&S garage though, they'd throw all their fresh stuff out at the end of the day. It would be sitting on top of the bins packaged so still clean and we'd eat it when there was anything there. Then one day we turned up and they'd poured bleach all over the food and they continued to do it. It boggles the mind.
We get the M&S ones in the "community fridge" (i.e. for anyone, donations encouraged) bit at the local food bank, they are usually gone within a few mins of opening.
They should've cover the logos so they would decide on the taste alone. Seeing the origin of the coffees will influence their decision. The way Will said "I see the logo and I immediately get excited" when deciding where to put Starbucks tells a lot of how influenced you can be by a brand. Also saying the price influences the decision, so... That should also be hidden until the end when they would reveal the brand and price (the front of the cards would just be covered and then they would uncover the pyramid of brands and prices starting from the bottom, of course).
as an Aussie its crazy to see Starbucks so high and McDonalds that low we almost ran Starbucks out of the country meanwhile McCafe does numbers, even in Melbourne which is considered one of the coffee capitals of the world
finns drink more coffee than any people in the world and i've never heard of anyone drinking mcdonalds coffee here 😭 espresso house (swedish) is by far the most popular here, followed by roberts coffee (finnish), starbucks is popular-ish but you don't really see that many of them here anymore, even in the capital
its not the same in every country though. they change the menue to suit the taste of the country. we're not actually a big coffee country. hence the wide spread costas and neros.
When I was younger I worked in all 3 of the big chains (I was at Nero for 4 years, Starbucks for 6 months and Costa for 4 years), of the 3, Nero was the only one people would go to work in because they wanted to be a barista and make great coffee. That being said, all 3 taste fucking rank because being big chains they have to follow the trending coffee bean mix and keep it mild in strength to appease the masses. All 3 are also incredibly inconsistent because the quality of the coffee you recieve depends entirely on whether someone bothered to set the grind correctly in the morning/afternoon and whether the Barista making your coffee either knows what they're doing, or if they do know what they're doing, likes you enough to put the effort in. You also simply cannot make good coffee at the speed the big 3 are expected to churn them out, so sacrifices get made to get your coffee to you as quick as possible.
at costa we do a grind and dose check in the morning, but as the day goes on it gets pretty out of the measurement its supposed to be at,, but like you said there's no time to fix it when you're doing back to back £400 hours - also when i fuck up a drink i always want to remake it but there's no time when you've got 6 other drinks to make so i apologise if you've ever had a cappuccino that's 80% foam 😬
@H_EJ_H Our costa check always gets pissed at us because our capuccinos dont have enough foam, even when they have like 80%, so i think they'd appreciate your dry drinks!!
Also Nero just has the best vibes, I grew up in a small town that had all three, people would sit in Costa and Starbucks but Nero was ALWAYS the go to If was a 2 story building and the second floor was pretty much only open to students (not officially but it was more of an unspoken thing) so you’d go in after school and people would be everywhere just sitting, chatting, studying and eating little snacks I can’t even imagine how many sales that place made
I 100% agree with James on the Whetherspoon front, the atmosphere is great when you’ve had a few but the coffee made them both recoil in horror more than any other in the run and THAT’S what they’re rating lmaoooo
That was dreadful,.in the best way possible. please, please, please do more together, combined you are the best on youtube (Will is my fave creator ever!)
That was the price of the two drinks together, but still £4 is a lot. I guess it is literally an addiction so people will still buy it irrespective of the price.
@@Oh-lk2qd I've had a look on RU-vid but the only videos I can find are from several years ago. Who knows if the pandemic meant they had to change production etc
I am deeply disappointed that Gail’s coffee was not included in this review. I would have expected it to be right up James’ street both literally and metaphorically. Also up his street is a hotel where Will’s mum was staying but that’s not the focus.
