I’m a nurse, haven’t had covid and I’m NOT getting the vaccine ! And I’m an advocate for vaccines but not this one ! Renee you really should try growing cilantro again, it’s really easy ! It actually likes cool shade, but it’s pretty tolerant of most any conditions ! There are a lot of herbs you could grow on your boat and boy would it liven up your meals ❤️ Blessings
For a family living on a boat with limited contact to the outside world it makes sense to wait with getting vaccinated so others can get it first. However, If you have contact to people on a daily basis, especially if you work in a medical role or otherwise with predominantly vulnerable people, I believe it is your duty to get vaccinated. It's like wearing a mask - it's about protecting others and not just yourself - and it comes at close to no risk to you. And to the anti-maskers: The inconvenience of wearing a mask when going shopping is like not drinking before jumping into the drivers seat...
My own personal (and private, as myself) advice about vaccine : - First, our health system in France makes tests and vaccine free, and are payed by the health security (we'll pay somehow, but as we pay health security following our own richness, even poor people can get tests and vaccine free). - The problem is that Covid 19 is a world pandemia. What if some people refuse to get vaccinated, and get sick. During the 10 days they carry the Covid without being really sick, they could infect and kill other people. Beyond the "My rights first", is "a Nation rights to behave as adults, responsable for others"... - If a country (as Bielorussia or North Korea) refuses the vaccination of its people, should we let those people just die, and watch tv to forget them the fastest as possible ? Aren't we a human beiing species, what our colours, thoughts, religions are ? Somehow, infected people from those nations will come back with a new virus (as in Britain or India) and kill much more citizen that if we had solved the problem first. - In an oher way, if you refuse to be vaccinated, as your rights are important, then go back in Montana, as some countries think it is better for them to refuse you to enter, as they try to get rid of Corona... They also are free to do as they want, and think theyre rights are more important than yours ! - Covid vaccination isn't a great deal. It is a fast and easy bite, not only for yourself, but also for others. We all (where ever you come from, land or water), have the chance to be born in free and rich countries, and we should think about family, neibours and other human beiings before thinking about our personal rights. Freedom is made as a rule for an entire nation, not just for your private neighborhood...
Well said Keith...we are anti discrimination too. It should only be personal choice and given the vaccination doesn’t stop you getting COVID only lessens the severity why should people who are vaccinated get special treatment...they can still be carrying it and spreading it! I don’t see how the ‘passport idea’ has a leg to stand on given this!
Yeah we are by no means antivaxers either but the way it was rolled out, pushed, and all the misinformation distributed about Covid in general has us refusing to take it as well until more actual research on it is done. I even know a medical professional and go was one of the early pushers of the vaccine who has told me he has buyers remorse from getting it with the more information that is coming out about it. Having just gotten over Covid myself(like a very lite flu for me) I realize that the one accurate piece of information about it is that it is all in your genetics as to how bad it is. And while I wasn’t lucky enough to be asymptomatic my family(children at least) have the genes to survive it easily so not worth risking there lives for an almost untested vaccine. Most real cruisers don't go out of their way to promote anti covid vaccination view or lie about already having covid. These are exactly the people you don't want to come to your island.

What's the old saying: Be careful what you wish for. That vacation might be for everyone, but I don't think that that life is for everyone; if you get tired of beach vacations after a few days (like me - but clearly not this family), for me Year 2 of sailing like this would be like living in Dante's Inferno. This said, you are getting to spend quality time with your teenagers - which is a rare and even priceless thing. Keith has mentioned it gets to be "like too much chocolate" a time or two.

One of the opening scenes in your intro with the ladies opening the icebox and the Mahi-Mahi escapes back to the sea and them screaming is really hilarious. I loved it. I also liked the interview with the Aussies about what thought about America and getting the vaccine . Great stuff.

@@suelyons531 reaction to a public health crisis shouldn’t be religious in nature, but scientific. It’d be great if the vaccine worked, but it doesn’t appear to last very long and does have side effects. Requiring that people get it that have natural immunity doesn’t make scientific sense. The other big tell is that 3rd and 4th doses are being pushed in wealthy countries while poor countries haven’t even had a first dose. Why does the vaccine only work if they can sell if for $2k a shot? It’s a global virus, if this were a scientific response we’d be focused on vaccinating the worlds population above 60 who don’t have natural immunity. Instead they are focusing on pushing it on kids who are as close to no risk as it gets. Sorry for rambling, hope things get less divisive soon!
I have thoroughly appreciated your travels, having worked in Fiji for 5 years, Tuvalu for a year back in the 1970 s. The whole family are wonderful, enjoyed watching the kids growing up and you both exuding so much professionalism and wanderlust! Yikes! When he puts his left hand on the chain guide at 5:39 I held my breath. The prospect squishy bits mangled by mechanical things gives me the shivers.
True, I was a little nervous. I once saw a young man oiling an operating chain, on a hay bailing machine and it grabbed onto his shirt sleeve and pulled his arm through, right up to the shoulder, he managed to pull it out but lost his arm from the elbow. I'll never forget having to wrap the mangled hand in ice, which still had his watch on it. The poor guy was lucky to have it reattached but it was a bloody mess and took years of physiotherapy.
To clarify; your beautiful family have already had the disease and thus have natural immunity? If so I am glad to see that y'all have seemed to recover well. I didn't recall you saying that y'all had Covid in previous episodes.
I know several people who have had it, people with lung issues, people with other health issues and everyone of them had very mild flu symptoms..... id be happy if people quit being sheep, im glad to see someone in the public eye take a stand on this.
Get the shot; don’t get the shot... but a lot of people are fraudulently using the “I had it” claim lately in order to get what they want without giving up anything for it. If you actually had Covid, then you can get an antibody test which works in many policy cases. Not sure about parts of Asia as I haven’t done he research there yet

Love your channel! But since you did put your thoughts out there I figure you were open for comments. Not allowing someone without a vaccine in is not discrimination. It’s safety. It’s not the same as denying someone a right or a privilege based on race or sexual identity. You don’t let a blind man drive to protect the safety of others. Love the channel too, but have to agree that this is in no way “discrimination”. Think about it. You have free will and the choice to get, or not get the vaccine which is designed to help cut down on the spread of this deadly disease that has killed literally tens of thousands of people. Some governments have also made decisions based on what they feel is the best choice for their citizens. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, but your decisions have consequences. I distinctly recall over a year ago you expressed skepticism (and was parroted by Jack), that Covid was being blown way out of proportion, and that certain governments were overreacting to the pandemic. I think had the US gotten some real leadership back at the beginning, we wouldn’t be looking at over 600,000 dead. Instead, every aspect of it was politicized, and expert medical advice was either ignored, or met with outright hostility. Normally I agree with how you’ve raised your children, and instilled in them the need to work hard and be responsible young adults. But I must respectfully disagree with you on this. Thank goodness citizens of the US didn’t act this way when the vaccines for polio and smallpox were developed. And let’s not forget there are people that are immunocompromised and can’t get the vaccine. Their only defense is if enough people get vaccinated and prevent its spread. Even if you had Covid, you don’t know how long that protects your body from it, and now there are new variants that you may not be immune from.

The thing is that no one knows how each person will react to the epidemic. There are those without a medical background who became infected and died as a result of the disease. Even if they are cured there are complications that arise afterwards. In Israel we are already without restrictions and all thanks to vaccines.
All thanks to your government choosing to allow you to after they vaccinated the population. The Vaccination itself has solved nothing other than making a large group of people who had almost zero risk feel safer despite the reality that they took a big risk and now can still get Covid, can still spread Covid, can still die from Covid. Either way, it is a personal choice each of us can make. No one should be attacked or discriminated against for getting the vaccine or for refusing it. You are no safer among a vaccinated population than an unvaccinated population if you are vaccinated or not. The people around you are not putting you at risk by not being vaccinated and vaccinated people are not putting people at risk. The only risk is people's behaviour. The old saying is true again. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

They are kind, helpful and very interested in the world around them. Chill out because he’s just asking some questions for some thoughts, fairly simple stuff. I’m not sure who tunes into a sailing video to neg people who inspire others and do cool things. Hi again Keith, love your videos and your honesty, cant wait to follow your family as you share your experiences exploring the WA coastline. For what its worth on the vaccine issue, those younger Aussies who choose not to accept the official Australian science advice to vaccinate early are the free riders who may inadvertently and selfishly spread the disease to the vulnerable and close family when we get an outbreak in the future. Natural immunity after Covid has not been proven by science so it is jumping the gun to make those assumptions. So its not about wait and see, its about being a responsible member of the community. Anti-science propaganda was one of the major causes of the spread of the pandemic in the US.

Not trying to start an argument at all, the main difference they are pointing out is that the Covid vaccine has only been around for 8 months and other vaccines have been around and tested for years. If you’re a healthy person in general the risks of adverse side affects could be much higher than Covid itself.
@@Kacsurfs in my opinion the bigger gamble is with the vaccine. No one knows what the side affects are. With Covid, if you’re healthy, you’ll be sick for a week and it wi suck but you’ll get over it. Think abt this, these same pharma companies will tell you one drink of alcohol is bad for a pregnant mother but injecting a largely unstudied vaccine into yourself (regardless of current health situation) is perfectly safe. The difference is where they are making their money. In a few years if the vaccine passes actual FDA approvals and shows promise then I’ll happily get it. But I’ve rarely found 1st generation technology to be as good as advertised.
@@gideonstowell3070 Knowledge of how vaccines work have been around for decades and can be applied to any vaccine. Scientists have been studying and working on a corona virus vaccine for 20 years. It isn’t like the Covid vaccine is a brand new idea and they know nothing about it.

@@Tylox1 Man, I remember being a child and being so worried about this, then one day I just decided to stop caring about all that and just live my life, instead of fearing what may come every day. Hopefully you see this too someday, it's just not worth it, but if you want some immediate solace, wouldn't you KNOWINGLY have to accept what you really believe is the mark of the beast for that to actually be the case? In the case that you're describing that would be like the devil, not god, deciding who gets sent to hell. So don't worry so much, get a vaccination, and live long enough to be at peace with yourself.
I had dreadlocks, and you can "sort of" comb it out since they do separate them self's over time and you need someone to a few hours each month to fix them for you, since doing it your self is VERY painful and I could do like 1 dread and then my arms are acing since 1 dread takes like 20-40 minutes (depending how good you are and how badly damaged that dread is). And I do not recommend getting dreads.. pretty annoying to shower your hair once a month to second month, they smell and since you dive a lot that means many showers to get all the salt out of your hair so it doesn't dry your scalp out.. But also.. Dreads make higher possibility to get bald later in future since a chunk of hair is being pulled from all sides all the time.
you are supposed to wash dreads once or twice a week. it promotes healthy growth and actually stops your hair from breaking ... resulting in stronger locks.
@@Frawggy0ne That's what I thought but the more I showerd with shampoo that removed grease the more all my dreads came un-done. so it was very annoying moment to learn in life 15 years ago that I get to wash my hair once a month and then I got like 18 to 36+ hours of pain having them "re-braided" so it's a cool thing to have, got bunch of girls due to my hair but in the end.. it wasn't worth it. esp since I live near the sea so I had to wash out all the salt each time, while other ppl with dreads said that I should dip my dreads in salty water and that will shrink my hair and make the knots more tight.. but then you got salt in your hair...
Its an interesting discussion about rules in society - I guess they can all be discriminatory - so it may be that without the COVID jab there may be restrictions on travel
Yup. Its a new vaccine so people act like this and scream about their rights, its even worse now thanks to social media. But in a few years I guarantee people will be taking the exact same vaccines and noone will be talking about their rights lol. If you caught covid and, "HaVe AntIBoDiEs" you can still catch it again and spread it to others, so I just dont appreciate their argument. Especially for things like travel... I think a vaccine is very understandable.
Being vaccinated against certain diseases before being allowed to enter a country is nothing new.... I still have my yellow international vaccine book - yellow fever & cholera are in there... so is Hep A, Polio, Diphtheria etc. Calling "discrimination" with regards to vaccination is a red herring thrown out there by the nutters.... if you want to take a discrimination stance on this, why stop there.... no smoking in restaurants, height limits on the roller coaster, weight limits on mopeds, speed limits on the motorway etc etc etc. Getting vaccinated against Covid 19 is not so much about protecting you as the individual - it is about protecting everyone else in a functional society - and killing a disease by starving it of viable hosts.... small pox comes to mind (yes I am vaccinated against that too, had an old school doctor when I was a kid). It is not about discrimination but about putting your family and others at risk. You may benefit from the herd immunity of enough others getting the vaccine or may be lucky enough to contract covid without death or huge health issues but make no mistake, you are accepting much higher risk for your family than getting a vaccine. You've already experienced the "discrimination" of wanting to enter New Zealand, Fiji, and Australia when they required quarantine, negative tests, etc. to keep their citizens safe. The shot is for a disease that has a 99% recovery rate, and the rate of death and permanent disability from the experimental shot is not worth the risk over a strain of covid (all flus are covids of different strains). I still have not recovered from my shots. I regret it.

What statistically ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN is that COVID infections and deaths among vaccinated populations have fallen dramatically. Keith is doing a disservice by spreading unsupportable doubt about vaccinations' overwhelming effectiveness and safety now well-established by the hundreds of millions of vaccinations delivered.

To clarify, getting vaccinated to protect yourself and your family and the society is a different matter from the vaccination passport. You can still get vaccinated but object to vaccination passport. Don’t always use discrimination as an excuse. The ultimate goal is to allow people to travel safely by reducing the risk of exposing to the virus. It is not about discrimination. Also, maybe you should also think about the side effects after you get covid and the risk passing to other (because of this it’s be never ending pandemic) even if you have antibody from fighting the disease.

The question that no one has addressed is that how long the covid antibodies stay in your system, as well as the vaccine. How long are both in the system to fight covid?
I agree that medical officials should address it. Look at if people still have SARS and MERS antibodies. Or even the common cold antibodies of coronavirus type. The vaccine trial participants are now a year into it, so we should know something about it from them as well. There are people in China that have natural antibodies from 18 months ago, if they haven’t received the vaccine yet.

Natural immunity HAS been studied. Those who had SARS-1 (2003), still 17 years later now have natural immunity to Covid-19 (SARS-2). Really missing the videos hope you are all well. What you put in your body is your choice, you decide what is best for you and your family. The family unit is much more of a responsible entity than any government. I have been vaccinated, because that is what I decided to do. But each person/ family is different and its a personal choice. I really don’t see the problem, Been traveling for years, always carry my shot records (old yellow book), make sure my shots are current for the country visiting, only a couple times officials ever asked for it. no need to modify passports, the controls already exist. Docs just need to figure out how to note the antibody stuff in the shot record booklets, problem solved. Love this channel.
I have no problem with shots but I've also had an bad immune response to some. Given this vaccine isn't fully approved I appreciate their ideology. I don't feel comfortable getting something that is still experimental But again I had life changing reaction to a well tested and still used vaccine. Not saying I won't ever get it but as a front line essential worker I've been well exposed and dobhave antibodies to covid even though I was never physically ill from it. ✌
I am the same, traveled lots. Though I have been given a bit of grief when trying to prove I have had my shots. But only because of not having them properly entered and documented as a kid. Once I got past that hurdle than most any place I want to travel the information is already there.

But from what I have seen, with over 1 billion people having had the shot already, and the really loud people generally repeating the same debunked talking points, it seems like a lot of the concerns are being exaggerated. I know plenty of people who were uncomfortable for a couple of days after the shot but only 1 with a worse reaction out of dozens within my circle of friends. And that seems to put me more at ease as this is what i was under the impression to expect.

@@shammone3333 It depends on where you are from and the kinds of agreements countries have between each other for information exchange. Vaccine records are something that many countries share between each other to make the process transparent to travelers. At least that is how its supposed to be.
I guess my point is that vaccinated people protect the vulnerable. There are many people with underlying conditions who cannot get the vaccine. When you get vaccinated you protect those vulnerable people. If it was only about your own risk I would agree with you 100%.
My decision to get or not get the vaccine is mine and mine alone. It's to protect me (to a certain degree) from the virus. NOT YOU and not anyone else. If you are vulnerable, take extra precautions, etc.
