We Turned Mortain into an Impenetrable Fortress 

Exactly! It sucks so hard when you have a good group and lots of time then they never arrive lol. I have another vid (I believe it's suggested at the end of this one) where we tried to build a fortress in Hurtgen and basically run out of time once we got our supplies delivered so the enemy arrives and all we have are supply boxes everywhere lol. We joked about it and doubled down and acted like we saved the day and the only reason we'd defend is because of our amazing work haha. It's a good one.

have an enemy team competent enouigh? brother it doesn take an enemy team being competent enough to do that, it can also be that your team just sucks lol

Just had one we had a massive fort on the point and held the enemy back for tye rest of the match.

That was my buddy Neve running the grease gun and I don't think he's got much experience with it yet. I've got a vid on my channel where I ran the grease gun all game and did quite well with it. It packs a punch up close and is a headshot machine actually!

Pretty slick little move there although the guy I shot was clearly a noob lol.

But of course there were lol. It was an interesting point to fortify because the enemy was coming from the east downhill so you couldn't really see each other til they got close.

My next video actually is kinda that scenario. I defend on the active sectors while cutting back to my squad mates building a mega fortress. It's the biggest fortress I've ever seen built!

They were huge that day. But we need to do this again with you next time!

You generally don't see fortifications built outside of offensive mode on the defending team.

I definitely found placing blueprints to be difficult in many areas around Mortain outskirts. it would be really fun to be right in the heart of the town instead of the outskirts

I started like you. Spent entire games just focused on trying to find enemies and not die. Scored a few kills a game. Way more deaths. Eventually started getting 10 kills a game and like 39 deaths lol. Eventually got to the point of breaking even, and then having a positive K/D ratio. At some point decided to start a RU-vid channel and one day decided that I wanted my footage to be cleaner and more immersive. So I disabled the HUD and turned off friendly markers. At first I hesitated because I wasn't positive I was aiming at enemies. I also got a few TKs per game for a while. But always apologized in text chat. Eventually you just learn exactly what the enemies look like, move like, and where they are likely to be and not be. It's a process and it comes with thousands of hours in the game.

These fortresses are a bit unnecessary. I would agree. I made an in-depth tutorial about fortifications and I think some simple barbed wire in strategic locations to funnel enemies into kill zones is most effective.
