You are a very Godly daughter…there are not too many adult children that honor their parents anymore ❤️🙏 I honored my parents, but don’t seem to have it myself
We were the first ones to go before council and get approval for our ‘granny flat’ and I hope more homeowners follow suit. Yes, I totally agree, more communities definitely need to get on board!❤
Im an old lady now, but i grew up WITH my grands; parents, aunts, uncles, etc. They put their funds together and bought a huge house where we ALL could live...with ample separation so as to not cause problems. 😢❤❤❤. I miss them all.
Huge shout out for all the amazing daughters who take care of their ole mamas. You were raised well and will be forever happy about the choices you make.
I feel I was meant to read this sweet comment on this hard night, grieving and missing my beloved late Mother tremendously. I cared for my Mother for over seven years as she bravely endured Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. I was there for her at every point, including bearing witness to her final breath. I miss her with every part of my Soul. 😢🖤
My mom lives with me in a downtown apartment overlooking the river in a small city (143,000). I work downtown and ride my bike so I'm close by in case she needs something. We're able to walk to our bank, our favorite restaurant and over the pedestrian only bridge. It's perfect for her because she also sits next to one of the floor to ceiling windows with her cat. Many people know who she is and wave and say hello. She loves it.
Back in the 1950s, when my maternal grandmother became a widow, my uncles built a little home for her out of a garage next to my uncle's house. I always loved it. It was absolutely adorable and she loved it there! 🏡 ❤
I LOVE every single thing about your Mom's little home. I just kept saying out loud "I want to live there". The decor, the layout, the garden... It's perfect. ❤ And it's a bonus you all get to be so close together.
I'm ready to move into that cottage, it looks like paradise. Your love & for your mother shows. And your husband must be a wonderful man to be on board. This is what family should be like.
My mom lived with us in a mother-in-law addiction to our home for 22, years…the bond with the grandkids was awesome …: and not just mine…. All my nieces and nephews also.. would definitely do it again!! They all loved having grandma close.
You did everything right - it is beautiful and just the right size. I love that she also gets her own little yard and a view of the horses. Great life. You're a wonderful daughter any Mother would be proud of. Blessings
You and your husband are wonderful children. You've created a beautiful sanctuary for your mom. The inside and outside is lovely. She is truly blessed with you.
What a beautiful home! I wish more communities would allow this. My mom ended up living in a senior apartment building before she passed, and she didn't like it. We tried to build a tiny home for her on our extra lot, but our city wouldn't allow it. 😢 Your mom must be so happy and thankful for this retirement paradise! You are a terrific daughter! ❤
@@annjohnson8437 thank you! I wish more communities would do this too. I am so sorry it didn’t work out for your Mom. My Mom is very happy in her tiny home. Thank you for your kind words ❤️
So beautiful!! We always joke with our kids about having a family compound.... "Why can't we all just live together again??" But, this is a perfect idea for again parents!! So beautifully done!
Too precious. This warms my heart. I would put my parents in a little house like this on my property out in the country. I want them close to me but still maintain their independence.
It is beautiful, charming, lovely!!! So blessed you have your Mom .and have done this for her..very hard to leave your home but this is perfect precious..i onow she loves it 💚🎚️🇺🇸🇨🇱from Texas ..💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
I wish all seniors felt this loved. Every state should make it easy for people to build granny flats. There's too many seniors who feel too guilty moving in with their kids and end up homeless. The internet is full of people on the verge of having no place to live.
There is nothing flat about this granny flat. Everyone in the world would be so lucky to live here in the later years! Easy to clean, peaceful, save, filled with sun, independence, privacy, movement, close by family, a garden, on and on …….. yeah!
This was just so nicely done. I love the cottage look to it.. I'll bet your mom loves it. I had an idea: Mount the tv on the wall and put a small wood burning fireplace in the corner for those cold Ontario winters.
I absolutely love this! The older I get the more I truly appreciate this. I just turned 63, my husband is 66 and we just celebrated our 44th anniversary. I just might have to show this to my oldest son for future reference…..hint 😉 hint 😘. 😊 Your mother is one very blessed and loved lady.
This place is so magical. You created such a beautiful oasis for your Mom. Every inch of the home is well thought out, and the outdoor areas are magnificent. To me, the outdoor areas are most important in any stage of life, but more so as we age! I’m sure your Mom appreciates all you’ve done to make her happy and comfortable! Bravo!!!
I can only wish that my son would build me a little house. Your plan is so thoughtful and loving. An outdoor spot in the sun and a nice shaded spot. A garden space. And a dry shed for her storage of personal things. You've truly covered the bases perfectly. Thank you for loving your mom that much and respecting her life. It's simply beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful 😍 I loved it so much. Such a blessing to be able to have your mom with you, yet allowing her to be independent at the same time. ❤
Best design ever. And affordable for most people. And practical for an old person - little maintenance and everything close at hand. Also tastefully decorated. I am pinching some ideas for myself 😊
My mom is gone now but lived with us for ten years, that was such a joyous time for both of us. So glad you also can have your mom close in her golden years. The cottage is really beautiful, love the landscape too. Thanks for sharing.
What you’ve all done for your mother is simply amazing! Everything is so beautiful and planned out and I don’t know who couldn’t be happier with this arrangement!
With multiple beautiful outdoor spaces, a single person wouldn't need more than 432 square feet. It looks like someone gets to spend a lot of time tending flowers, too. How fortunate for you and your mother that you can provide her with such a lovely home! Thank you for posting this. It IS inspiring.
This Adorable Cottage (Granny Flat) is So Charming. Love the Surrounding Yard and All the Plants and Flowers. Love too, the Outdoor Space. So Relaxing!! What a Sweet Place for Your Mom. She Raised a Wonderful and Thoughtful Daughter. GOD BLESS!!
I want to live there ! Adopt me ! How WONDERFUL you are to give your Mother such a lovely place of her own! My house looks awful compared to this. From the abundant gardens..( butterflies included) .to the beautifully decorated kitchen...... bedroom and bathroom.... BBQ grill and everything in between !..God bless you both for all that you have done. Fantastic indeed....it may be only 432 sq. feet...but it is HUGE in love and coziness. Good job and well done.
You’ve created lovely indoor and outdoor spaces for your mother. And of course, she’s close enough for visits yet has her privacy. Very thoughtful of you and your husband.
I can see the love all over that property and house. The only other thing I would do is make a sure path to her house and shed. sometimes elderly folks are a little unsteady on there feet.
I have a horror of nursing homes although I know some people need skilled nursing care and must be there. My mom and dad were both able to stay in their own home until the end came. I felt so fortunate to be able to visit with them there and make sure they were safe and comfortable. This setting is absolutely lovely! What a wonder place for your much loved mother!
Adorable. All the flowers are fantastic, my goal! My son lives with me and when we lost my dad 18 months ago, I looked for houses or even house plans to accommodate multiple generations. Here in the US, we just don’t have good options at all for multigenerational living. My mom at 81 is not ready to give up her independence or garden. A room in our home wouldn’t be enough for her. She is still planting and working in her yard. What a wonderful granny flat you created! ❤
